Abstract
Iodide is accumulated by the brown alga Saccharina japonica at a high concentration and has been proven to be an inorganic antioxidant that plays an important role in oxidative metabolism. Vanadium-dependent bromoperoxidases (vBPOs) and iodoperoxidases (vIPOs), which catalyze the oxidation of iodide, are essential for iodine accumulation and metabolism. Heavy metal pollutant cadmium (Cd) from anthropogenic activities can cause damage to algae mainly by producing oxidative stress. Here, the effects of iodine pretreatment on the stress of S. japonica caused by cadmium were analyzed. The growth experiment showed that iodine pretreatment could reduce the damage of low concentration cadmium on S. japonica young thalli. At the transcriptomic level, gene ontology (GO) enrichment analysis confirmed that cadmium stress could cause a peroxidation reaction in S. japonica. However, the most significant GO term was "photosystem I" in the series with iodine pretreatment. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) indicated that iodine pretreatment alleviated cadmium stress responses of S. japonica by affecting the photosynthesis process. Analysis of the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) showed that five enzymes from the vBPO family and 13 enzymes from the vIPO family might play crucial roles in this process.

Identification of a genomic region linked with sex determination of Undaria pinnatifida (Alariaceae) through genomic resequencing and genetic linkage analyses of a segregating gametophyte family. Abstract
Different from the traditional knowledge about kelp, three sexual phenotypes (female, male, and monoecious) exist in the haploid gametophytes of Undaria pinnatifida. However, the sex-determining mechanisms remain unknown. Genetic linkage mapping is an efficient tool to identify sex-linked regions. In the present study, we resequenced a segregating gametophyte family based on the male genome of U. pinnatifida. A high-density genetic linkage map was constructed using 9887 SNPs, with an average distance of 0.41 cM between adjacent SNPs. On the basis of this genetic map and using the composite interval mapping method, we identified 62 SNPs significantly linked with the sexual phenotype. They were located at a position of 67.67 cM on the linkage group 23, corresponding to a physical range of 14.67 Mbp on the HiC_Scaffold_23 of the genome. Reanalysis of the previous specific length amplified fragment sequencing data according to the reference genome led to the identification of a sex-linked genomic region that encompassed the above-mentioned 14.67 Mbp region. Hence, this overlapped genomic range was likely the sex-determining region. Within this region, 129 genes were retrieved and 39 of them were annotated with explicit function, including the potential male sex-determining gene-encoding high mobility group (HMG) domain protein. Relative expression analysis of the HMG gene showed that its expression was higher in male gametophytes during the vegetative phase and monoecious gametophytes during both the vegetative and gametogenesis phases, but significantly lower in male gametophytes during the gametogenesis phase. These results provide a foundation for deciphering the sex-determining mechanism of U. pinnatifida.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is a clinically malignant tumour syndrome mainly derived from mucin-producing appendiceal tumours. This study aimed to explore the effect of preoperative systemic chemotherapy (PSC) before cytoreductive surgery (CRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) on the safety and postoperative survival in patients with appendiceal PMP. METHODS We performed a retrospective analysis including consecutive patients with PMP undergoing primary surgery between January, 2008 and December, 2019 in Aerospace Center Hospital. The clinical data and postoperative survival were compared between PSC group and non-PSC group. RESULTS Seven hundred and fifty patients were included in the study. Significant differences were found between PSC group and non-PSC group on clinicopathological data and perioperative outcomes and the independent risk factor of serious complications was blood loss >1000 mL (P = 0.026). Shorter median overall survival (OS) was found (42 months, 95% CI 31.9-52.1) in PSC group than that (67 months 95% CI 44.5-89.5) in non-PSC group. In the stratified study with PCI < 20, CC 0/1 and low-grade pathological subtype, the OS from non-PSC group was significantly better than that in PSC group (log rank P-values are <0.001, 0.006 and <0.001, respectively). Multivariate survival analysis showed that CC 0/1, HIPEC, PCI < 20 and low-grade pathological subtype were the independent prognostic factors for better OS. CONCLUSIONS PSC does not increase the risk of major perioperative complications in patients with appendiceal PMP, but it also does not bring postoperative survival benefits to patients either.

Abstract
Ulcerative colitis-colorectal cancer (UC-CRC) is one of the most serious complications in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC), with worse prognosis and higher mortality than sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC). Since most UC-CRC developed through the "inflammation-dysplasia-carcinoma" approach, early detection of dysplasia through identification of high-risk groups reasonable monitoring and active prevention are extremely important. However, there is no consensus on the risk factors of UC carcinogenesis and the drugs that can be used for chemoprevention currently. This article combined with relevant literature at home and abroad, reviewed the current risk factors and chemopreventive drugs for UC carcinogenesis, in order to provide reference for early prevention, early detection and early diagnosis of UC-CRC.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the predicting value of different risk prediction models for short-term death in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock and treated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Methods: This study was a retrospective case-control study. Forty patients with STEMI complicated by cardiogenic shock who hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from April 2017 to August 2021 and treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and ECMO, were enrolled in this study. Patients were divided into survival group and death group according to their clinical outcomes at 30 days after ECMO implantation, and clinical data of the two groups were collected and analyzed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to compare the predictive value of ACEF, AMI-ECMO, Encourage and SAVE risk scores for mortality at 30 days after ECMO implantation. According to the evaluation results of DCA, the optimal risk score was selected. Kaplan-Meier curve estimating the 30-day survival after ECMO implantation was plotted by grouping risk scores with reference to previous literatures. Results: A total of 40 patients with STEMI combined with cardiogenic shock were included, age was (57.4±16.7) years, 31 (77.5%) patients were male, there were 21 (52.5%) patients in the death group and 19 (47.5%) in the survival group. Compared with the survival group, patients in the death group had higher lactic acid values, higher proportion of anterior descending artery or left main artery lesions, and a higher proportion of acute renal failure and continuous renal replacement therapy during hospitalization (all P<0.05). Compared with survival group, ACEF, AMI-ECMO and Encourage scores were higher in death group, SAVE score was lower in death group (all P<0.05). The ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve (AUC) of ACEF, AMI-ECMO, Encourage and SAVE scores in predicting mortality were 0.707, 0.816, 0.757, and 0.677 respectively (P>0.05). ACEF score demonstrated the highest sensitivity (90.5%) and Encourage score exhibited the highest specificity (89.5%). DCA indicated that the AMI-ECMO and Encourage scores had the best performance in predicting the 30-day mortality after ECMO therapy. Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis showed that the 30-day mortality after ECMO implantation increased with the increase of AMI-ECMO and Encourage scores (log-rank P≤0.001). Conclusions: The 4 scoring systems are all suitable for predicting 30-day mortality after VA-ECMO therapy in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock. Among them, AMI-ECMO and Encourage scores have better predicting performance.

Abstract
PURPOSE The long noncoding RNA LINC00261 was reported to be involved in carcinogenesis and has been validated as a tumor suppressor in pancreatic cancer (PC); however, how LINC00261 is regulated has not been fully examined. Here, we attempted to investigate the upstream and downstream targets of LINC00261 in PC. METHODS LINC00261 expression in PC tissues was examined by the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets and the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) database. The quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) assays were performed to detect the expression level of LINC00261 in PC cells. The location of LINC00261 in PC cells was identified by RNA fluorescence in situ hybridization (RNA-FISH). Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), cell apoptosis assay, transwell invasion and migration assays testified the critical role of LINC00261 in PC. The luciferase reporter assay was applied to confirm the binding of LINC00261 to its upstream transcription factor KLF13. The changes in LINC00261 related target protein levels were analyzed by Western blotting assay. RESULTS LINC00261 was significantly lower in PC tissues and was mainly concentrated in the nucleus. Overexpression of LINC00261 inhibited the invasion and migration of PC cells. Mechanistically, transcription factor KLF13 was confirmed to inhibit the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process of PC cells by promoting the transcription of LINC00261 and suppressing the expression of metastasis-associated proteins, such as matrix metalloproteinase MMP2 and vimentin, thus inhibiting the metastasis of PC. CONCLUSION LINC00261 regulates PC cell metastasis through the "KLF13-LINC00261-mTOR-P70S6K1-S6" signaling pathway, which provides a significant set of potential PC therapeutic targets.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy within the first 24 h post extracorporeal membrane pulmonary oxygenation (ECMO) and the impact of early efficacy on the prognosis of adult patients with fulminant myocarditis (FM). Methods: This retrospective case analysis study included hospitalized patients (age≥18 years) who were diagnosed with fulminant myocarditis from November 2016 to May 2021 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. Patients were divided into survival or non-survival groups according to treatment outcomes. The age, sex, treatments, drug use, ECMO use, clinical and laboratory data (before and 24 h after the use of ECMO) were analyzed. The change rate of clinical and laboratory data after 24 h use of ECMO was calculated to find differences between two groups. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the related factors with in-hospital death and complication between the two groups. Results: A total of 38 FM patients treated with ECMO were included. There were 23 cases (60.5%) in the survival group, aged (39.6±13.7) years, and 17 (73.9%) cases were female. The total ECMO time was (134.4±71.3)h. There were 15 cases (39.5%) in non-survival group, aged (40.0±15.8) years, and there were 12(80.0%) female, the ECMO time was (120.1±72.4) h in this group. The proportion of tracheal intubation and continuous renal replacement therapy in the survivor group and dosage of norepinephrine within 24 h after ECMO implantation were significantly less than in non-survival group (all P<0.05). There was no significant difference in all efficacy related biochemical indexes between two groups before ECMO use. The levels of lactic acid, procalcitonin, creatinine, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, creatine kinase-MB, cardiac troponin I and N-terminal B-type natriuretic peptide prosoma were significantly less in survival group than in non-survival group at 24 h after the use of ECMO (all P<0.05). Results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the higher 24 h change rate of creatinine (OR=0.587, 95%CI 0.349-0.986, P=0.044) and creatine kinase-MB (OR=0.177, 95%CI 0.037-0.841, P=0.029) were positively correlated with reduced risk of in-hospital mortality. The central hemorrhage and acute kidney injury in survival group were less than in non-survivor group (P<0.05). Conclusions: After 24 h early use of ECMO in FM patients, the improvement of various efficacy related biochemical test indexes in the survival group was better than that in the non-survival group. Faster reduction of creatine kinase-MB and creatinine values within 24 h ECMO use is positively correlated with reduced risk of in-hospital mortality in adult patients with FM.

Abstract
Undaria pinnatifida is the commercially second most important brown alga in the world. Its global annual yield has been more than two million tonnes since 2012. It is extensively cultivated in East Asia, mainly consumed as food but also used as feed for aquacultural animals and raw materials for extraction of chemicals applicable in pharmaceutics and cosmetics. Cultivar breeding, which is conducted on the basis of characteristics of the life history, plays a pivotal role in seaweed farming industry. The common basic life history shared by kelps determines that their cultivar breeding strategies are similar. Cultivar breeding and cultivation methods of U. pinnatifida have usually been learned or directly transferred from those of Saccharina japonica. However, recent studies have revealed certain peculiarity in the life history of U. pinnatifida. In this article, we review the studies relevant to cultivar breeding in this alga, including the peculiar component of the life history, and the genetics, transcriptomics and genomics tools available, as well as the main cultivar breeding methods. Then we discuss the prospects of cultivar breeding based on our understanding of this kelp and what we can learn from the model brown alga and land crops.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Implementation of EUCAST susceptibility testing in an Australian hospital laboratory demonstrated higher rates of aminopenicillin and amoxicillin/clavulanate resistance in Haemophilus influenzae than previously recognized. This study aimed to better define the variability in the detection of β-lactam resistance based on EUCAST and CLSI disc diffusion (DD) methodology, by comparison with the recommended reference method, broth microdilution (BMD), and by concordance with genomic analysis. METHODS A total of 100 random H. influenzae isolates were assessed for ampicillin and amoxicillin/clavulanate susceptibility by EUCAST and CLSI DD and BMD. WGS was used to analyse the ftsI gene of a subset of isolates with β-lactam resistance, other than that due to isolated β-lactamase production. RESULTS Of the 100 isolates, 32 were categorized as either β-lactamase negative, ampicillin resistant (BLNAR) (n = 18) or β-lactamase positive, amoxicillin/clavulanate resistant (BLPACR) (n = 14) by EUCAST DD. All 18 EUCAST BLNAR isolates were genotypically confirmed by WGS. Five of 18 BLNAR isolates were concordant by CLSI DD, 12 by EUCAST BMD and 4 by CLSI BMD. Nine of 14 EUCAST BLPACR isolates were confirmed by WGS; the remaining 5 were 1 mm below the EUCAST DD breakpoint. Only one isolate was detected as BLPACR by CLSI DD. Group III mutations associated with high-level ampicillin resistance were identified in 10/32 isolates. CONCLUSIONS The EUCAST DD susceptibility method is more reliable than either CLSI or BMD for the detection of genotypically defined BLNAR resistance. However, accurate categorization of amoxicillin/clavulanate resistance remains problematic. Continuous and reproducible surveillance of resistance is needed; for this to be possible, robust susceptibility methods are required.

Abstract
Monoecy and parthenogenesis exist in certain male and female gametophytes of the brown alga Undaria pinnatifida. The inheritance of these traits is not known. In this study, we made a cross between a male and a female gametophyte clone which could exhibit monoecy and parthenogenesis phenotypes, respectively, and obtained their next-generation gametophyte offspring. We found that under conditions suitable for gametogenesis, all of the male offspring (n = 100) exhibited monoecy phenotype and all of the female offspring (n = 100) only formed oogonia and underwent parthenogenesis, suggesting that monoecy and parthenogenesis phenotypes are inheritable. Then, we established a doubled haploid (DH) population through monoecious selfing and parthenogenesis, and evaluated the young sporophyte growth and the maximum quantum yield (Fv /Fm ) of 10 "male" and 10 "female" DH lines. On day 60, the average length of the "male" DH lines was significantly larger than that of the "female" DH lines, while their average Fv /Fm values were not significantly different. Monoecious selfing seemed superior to parthenogenesis as the sporophyte formation efficiency, and the young sporophyte growth was better in the former than in the latter. We also crossed two monoecious gametophytes with another male gametophyte, and a parentage analysis showed success of obtaining hybrid sporophytes, indicating that the female gametes released by the monoecious gametophyte can actually be fertilized by sperm. The approach of establishing a DH population proposed here will be useful in genetic breeding and quantitative trait loci mapping in U. pinnatifida and may be applicable to other kelp species.

Complete Cytoreductive Surgery vs. Debulking Surgery for pseudomyxoma peritonei of appendiceal origin: A propensity score-matched study based on a single-center experience. Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to report the prognostic predictors and compare the long-term outcomes of complete cytoreductive surgery (CCRS) vs. debulking surgery (DS) in patients with pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) of appendiceal origin. METHODS A retrospective analysis of 1008 consecutive patients with PMP undergoing primary surgery from January 2008 to December 2019 was performed. A propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis (1:1) was performed, and oncologic outcomes were compared between the CCRS and DS groups. RESULTS Out of 1008 patients, 258 patients were excluded. Baseline characteristics differed significantly between the CCRS and DS groups (total n = 750). After PSM, 106 patients were selected from each group and the baseline characteristics were matched between groups. There were significant differences between groups in operative time, the incidence of major complications (P = 0.017), and the numbers of organs removed. The median follow-up was 28 (1-131) months. Median overall survival (OS) for the 212 patients was 52.0 months (95% CI 40.2-63.8), and 10-year OS was 39.0%. Median OS could not be calculated for the CCRS group; in the DS group, this value was 41 months (P = 0.010). The 10-year OS rate was 54.2% in the CCRS group and 31.2% in the DS group. Multivariate analyses identified CCRS (P = 0.012) and histopathologic subtype (P < 0.001) as independent prognostic factors for OS. CONCLUSIONS In this matched-pair analysis of patients with appendiceal PMP, CCRS was safe and associated with better prognosis than DS. The completeness of cytoreduction and histopathologic subtype were two independent prognostic factors for OS.

Abstract
Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is a rare disorder with unique pathological and genetic changes. Although several studies have reported the clinical features and mutational changes of PMP that originates from the appendix, few studies on PMP originating from the ovary have been reported due to its extreme rarity. In order to characterize the somatic mutational landscape and to investigate the prognosis predicting factors of ovary-originating PMP, we examined 830 cases of PMP and identified 16 patients with PMP that originated from the ovary. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed on 12 cases using formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples. We found that 25% (3/12) of the patients carried mutations in cancer driver genes, including TP53, ATM and SETD2, and 16.7% (2/12) of the patients carried mutations in cancer driver genes, including ATRX, EP300, FGFR2, KRAS, NOCR1 and RB1. The MUC16 (58.33%), BSN (41.67%), PCNT (41.67%), PPP2R5A (41.67%), PRSS36 (41.67%), PTPRK (41.67%) and SBF1 (41.67%) genes presented the highest mutational frequencies. The PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, human papillomavirus infection pathway, cell skeleton, cell adhesion, and extracellular matrix and membrane proteins were the major pathways or functions that were affected. Patients were followed up to 174 months (median: 48.26 months). The 5-year OS rate for all patients was 71.2% and the median OS was not reached. PTPRK mutations, presurgical CA199 level, completeness of cytoreduction (CCR) and peritoneal cancer index (PCI) were identified as potential predictive factors for patient survival. In conclusion, the mutational landscape for ovary-originating PMP was revealed and exhibited unique features distinct from appendix-originating PMP. PTPRK, CA199, CCR and PCI may predict patient survival.

Abstract
Studies of quantitative trait loci based on genetic linkage maps require the establishment of a mapping population. Permanent mapping populations are more ideal than temporary ones because they can be used repeatedly. However, there has been no reported permanent sporophyte population of economically important kelp species. Based on the characteristics of the kelp life cycle, we proposed a method to establish, and then constructed experimentally, an "immortalized F2 " (IF2 ) population of Undaria pinnatifida. Doubled-haploid "female" and "male" sporophytes were obtained through the parthenogenesis of a female gametophyte clone and the selfing of a "monoicous" gametophyte clone (originally male), respectively, and they were used as the parents. The F1 hybrid line was generated by crossing the female and male gametophytes derived from the respective female and male parents. Full-sibling F2 gametophyte clones, consisting of 260 females and 260 males, were established from an F1 hybrid sporophyte. Thirty-five females and 35 males were randomly selected and paired to give rise to an IF2 population containing 35 crossing lines. A parentage analysis using 10 microsatellite markers confirmed the accuracy of the IF2 population and indicated the feasibility of this method. This proposed method may be adapted for use in other kelp species, and thus, it will be useful for genetic studies of kelp.

Abstract
PURPOSE Before biologic and targeted synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (b/tsDMARD) treatment, latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) screening by tuberculin skin test (TST) or interferon gamma release assay (IGRA) is recommended. However, both tests have reduced reliability in immunosuppressed patients. We investigated whether dual LTBI screening with both tests could reduce the incidence of tuberculosis. METHODS Consecutive patients receiving b/tsDMARDs for rheumatic diseases in a regional hospital were recruited. All patients underwent either TST/IGRA or both. They were categorised into a single or dual testing group and were followed up for at least 6 months. Isoniazid was prescribed if any one test was positive. RESULTS In total, 217 patients were included in this study; 121 underwent single LTBI testing and 96 underwent dual testing. Tuberculosis occurred in nine patients in the single testing group and one patient in the dual testing group (7.4% vs 1.0%, P=0.045). However, the difference was not statistically significant when follow-up duration was considered (log rank test). In total, 71 patients tested positive for LTBI with isoniazid treatment (28.9% in the single testing group and 45.8% in the dual testing group, P=0.007). Agreement between the IGRA and TST was 74.4% (Cohen's kappa=0.413); agreement was lower in patients receiving prednisolone. Infliximab use was independently associated with tuberculosis (P=0.032). Mild isoniazid-related side-effects occurred in seven patients. CONCLUSIONS Dual LTBI testing with both TST and IGRA is effective and safe. It might be useful for patients receiving prednisolone at the time of LTBI screening, or if infliximab therapy is anticipated.

Abstract
Marine protected areas (MPAs) are increasingly implemented as a conservation tool worldwide. In many cases, they are managed adaptively: the abundance of target species is monitored, and observations are compared to some model-based expectation for the trajectory of population recovery to ensure that the MPA is achieving its goals. Most previous analyses of the transient (short-term) response of populations to the cessation of fishing inside MPAs have dealt only with gonochore (fixed-sex) species. However, many important fishery species are protogynous hermaphrodites (female-to-male sex-changing). Because size-selective harvest will predominantly target males in these species, harvesting not only reduces abundance but also skews the sex ratio toward females. Thus the response to MPA implementation will involve changes in both survival and sex ratio, and ultimately reproductive output. We used an age-structured model of a generic sex-changing fish population to compare transient population dynamics after MPA implementation to those of an otherwise similar gonochore population and examine how different features of sex-changing life history affect those dynamics. We examined both demographically open (most larval recruitment comes from outside the MPA) and demographically closed (most larval recruitment is locally produced) dynamics. Under both scenarios, population recovery of protogynous species takes longer when fishing was more intense pre-MPA (as in gonochores), but also depends heavily on the mating function, the degree to which the sex ratio affects reproduction. If few males are needed and reproduction is not affected by a highly female-biased sex ratio, then population recovery is much faster; if males are a limiting resource, then increases in abundance after MPA implementation are much slower than for gonochores. Unfortunately, the mating function is largely unknown for fishes. In general, we expect that most protogynous species with haremic mating systems will be in the first category (few males needed), though there is at least one example of a fish species (though not a sex-changing species) for which males are limiting. Thus a better understanding of the importance of male fish to population dynamics is needed for the adaptive management of MPAs.

Abstract
Copper (Cu) is an essential metal involved in many physiological processes of living organisms. However, beyond a certain threshold, Cu can become highly toxic. For instance, in the summer sporeling production of the economic kelp Saccharina japonica, the excess Cu accidently released from the low-quality alloys of the refrigerating machine was deadly to the seedlings and led to the failure of hatchery operations. However, the molecular basis underlying high toxicity of Cu remains unclear. In this study, juvenile sporophytes were cultured in seawater containing different concentrations of Cu2+ (10, 100, and 200 μg L-1). Bleaching was observed in the meristem of individuals in the 100 and 200 μg L-1 treatment groups on the third day, indicating that Cu has caused severe harm at these concentrations. RNA-Seq was used to profile transcriptomic changes under different Cu2+ concentrations. Compared with the control, the number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) was 11,350 (4944 up- and 6406 down-regulated) in the 200 μg L-1 treatment group and 2868 (1075 up- and 1793 down-regulated) in the 100 μg L-1 treatment group, whereas much fewer DEGs were detected in the 10 μg L-1 treatment group. Genes coding for glutathione-S-transferase and vanadium-dependent bromoperoxidase and iodoperoxidase were found to be remarkably regulated, especially in the 200 μg L-1 treatment group. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses showed that only down-regulated DEGs were enriched. There were 45 enriched GO terms and four enriched KEGG pathways common to the 100 and 200 μg L-1 treatment groups, which were associated with diverse essential biological processes such as photosynthesis, protein synthesis, redox activity, and metabolism and biosynthesis of functional biomolecules, among others. Suppression of these biological processes at the transcriptional level likely contributes to the observed high toxicity of Cu2+ in S. japonica.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the mortality of colorectal cancer and its trend from 1999 to 2015 in Tianjin, China, and to explore the mortality features in different populations in order to provide data for prevention and control strategies of colorectal cancer. Methods: Colorectal cancer mortality data between 1999 and 2015 were collected from Tianjin population - based mortality surveillance system maintained by the Tianjin Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Population data of permanent residents were collected from Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau. The number of new cases and deaths, incidence [including crude incidence, age-adjusted standardized incidence and 95% confidence interval (95% CI)], and mortality (including crude mortality, age-adjusted standardized mortality and 95% CI) of colorectal cancer were calculated. Standardized incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer were calculated using the Segi's world standard population, adjusted with age and gender. JoinPoint regression and Cochran-Armitage trend test were used to determine the statistical significance of differences in mortality trend. Results: A total of 31 376 new onset cases and 14 893 death cases of colorectal cancer were observed in Tianjin from 1999 to 2015. Colorectal cancer incidence increased from 1999 to 2015 with a standardized rate from 9.66/100 000 to 15.36/100 000 [annual percent change(APC)=3.48%, Z=23.21, P<0.001]. Colorectal cancer mortality increased from 1999 to 2015 with a standardized rate from 5.18/100 000 to 6.11/100 000 (APC=1.24%, Z=5.69, P<0.001). Both showed an increasing trend. The death proportion of colon cancer increased (39.67% in 1999 and 50.33% in 2015), while the death proportion of rectal caner decreased (60.33% in 1999 and 48.57% in 2015). The median age of colorectal cancer onset fluctuated steadily around 66 years old (APC=0.16, T=1.75, P=0.100); the median age of death increased from 69 to 73 years old (APC=0.43, T=8.81, P<0.001). From 1999 to 2015, the mortality of colorectal cancer showed a downward trend (all P<0.05) in the age groups of <35 and 35-44 years, while an upward trend (all P<0.05) in the age groups of 45-54 years, 55-64 years and ≥ 65 years. Colorectal cancer mortality in males increased with a standardized rate of 5.53/100 000 in 1999 to 7.33/100 000 in 2015(APC=2.29%, Z=7.86, P<0.001), while colorectal cancer mortality in females flatted with a standardized rate of 4.83/100 000 in 1999 to 4.89/100 000 in 2015 (APC=0.10%, Z=-0.30, P=0.752). Colorectal cancer mortality increased with a standardized rate of 6.75/100 000 in 1999 to 7.33/100 000 in 2015 (APC=0.54%, Z=1.98, P=0.048) in urban areas and of 3.18/100 000 in 1999 to 4.38/100 000 in 2015 (APC=2.47, Z=6.46, P<0.001) in rural areas, whose differences were significant. Standardized mortality rate in rural area was lower but the rising velocity was faster as compared to urban area. Conclusions: Crude mortality and standardized mortality of colorectal cancer increase from 1999 to 2015 in Tianjin population. The people of elder, male and urban area have higher mortality. The mortality in people of male and rural area presents a faster rising state. Further efforts to reduce colorectal cancer mortality in Tianjin are needed to prevention and control of colorectal cancer.

Abstract
From 1999 to 2015, there were 6 186 cases of leukemia deaths in tianjin residents, the males accounted for 58.28% (3 605) and 52.31% (3 236) deaths lived in urban areas; the crude mortality rate of Leukemia increased from 3.47/100 000 to 4.28/100 000 [t=7.09, P<0.001, annual percent change (APC)=1.30%] and the standardized mortality rate decreased from 3.15/100 000 to 3.01/100 000 (t=-2.95, P=0.006, APC=-0.65%). Special attention should be focused on children, the elderly, males and rural residents.

Abstract
With rapid development of the construction of nuclear power plants along the coast, the concern of negative effects of potentially unexpected release of nuclides on marine organisms has increased. Cobalt (Co) is one of the crucial nuclides in nuclear polluted seawater. The effect of its presence in seawater on life cycle of macroalgae has seldom been studied. In this investigation, a series of Co concentrations including 1, 10, 100 μg L-1, and 1, 10 mg L-1 (the background concentration of Co in culture seawater was determined to be at the level of 0.75 ± 0.11 μg L-1) were used to test the effects of their presence on spore germination, gametophyte growth and gametogenesis of the important brown macroalga Undaria pinnatifida. It was found that the spore germination rate of 10 mg L-1 group was significantly lower than that of the control group after 1- and 2 days exposure. The gametophyte sizes of 1 and 10 mg L-1 groups were much smaller than that of the control group after 6- and 12-days exposure. Oogonia and juvenile sporophytes were observed to appear in 1, 10 μg L-1 and the control groups after 12 and 15 days, respectively, but not in the higher concentration groups. In the recovery test, sporophytes appeared in the 100 μg L-1 group on the 5th day, but not in 1 and 10 mg L-1 groups. These results demonstrate that presence of Co at high concentrations in seawater disturbs the life cycle by suppressing both the gametophyte growth and gametogenesis in U. pinnatifida.

Abstract
4547 Background: Patients (pts) with mUC with FGFR3 mutations who have failed platinum-based chemotherapy have a poor prognosis. Their response to immune checkpoint inhibitors appears diminished 10% or less compared to WT pts. 20% of mUC pts harbor FGFR3 mutations or fusions (M/F). Vofatamab is a fully human monoclonal antibody against FGFR3 that blocks activation of the wildtype and genetically activated receptor. FIERCE-21 is a Phase 1b/2 study designed to evaluate vofatamab monotherapy (VFM) or in combination with docetaxel (VFD). Methods: The P2 expansion enrolled mUC pts with FGFR3 M/F+ tumor (identified with FoundationONE CDx™), who failed ≥ 1 prior line of chemotherapy (including prior taxane for pts receiving VFM) or recurred ≤ 12 months of (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy. Pts had measurable disease and ECOG ≤ 1. Treatment consisted of vofatamab at 25 mg/kg alone and in combination with docetaxel at 75 mg/m2 q3w. Efficacy was assessed by investigators (RECIST 1.1). Primary objectives were safety and objective response-rate (ORR). Results: In the P2, 21 pts each received VFM and VFD. 57% of VFD pts had received at least 2, and 71% of VFM at least 3 prior lines of therapy. Best response to prior therapy was PD for 67% of VFD and 38% of VFM. The safety profile is consistent with previously reported data. TEAEs occurring in > 20% of pts were decreased appetite, diarrhea, pyrexia, asthenia, anemia, dyspnea, and fatigue. Most common vofatamab-related TEAEs in > 10% of pts were asthenia, diarrhea, decreased appetite and rash; all were Grade 1 or 2. In VFM, only 1 pt had a grade 3 TEAE and no pt discontinued treatment due to an AE. There were no cases of hyperphosphatemia, ocular or nail toxicity; 1 pt reported grade 2 skin toxicity. For pts receiving VM, median age was 70 yrs, ECOG 1 = 67%, Hgb < 10 g/dL 5%, liver metastases 19%. Responses have been seen in 7 pts to date including those receiving both VFM and VFD. Conclusions: Vofatamab both alone and combined with D in a q3w schedule are well tolerated with a low frequency of grade 3 TEAEs. Both VFM and VFD have demonstrated efficacy in terms of ORR. PFS/OS and DOR data will be presented at 7+ months for VFD and 9+ months for VFM. Clinical trial information: NCT02401542.

Abstract
409 Background: Patients (pts) with mUC who have failed platinum-based chemotherapy have a poor prognosis. About 20% of them usually respond to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Also, 20% of pts with mUC harbor FGFR3 mutations or fusions (M/F), and this feature may be associated with lower sensitivity to ICI. Vofatamab (B-701) is a fully human monoclonal antibody against FGFR3 that blocks activation of the wildtype and genetically activated receptor. FIERCE-21 is a Phase 1b/2 study designed to evaluate vofatamab monotherapy (VM) or in combination with docetaxel (VD). Methods: The study consists of a P 1b lead-in (P1b with VD), previously reported followed by P2 expansion cohort in FGFR3 M/F+ pts (identified with the FoundationONE CDx™ assay on archival samples). The study enrolled mUC pts with failure to ≥ 1 line prior chemotherapy (including prior taxane treatment) or ≤12 months of (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy, measurable disease and ECOG ≤ 1. Treatment consisted of vofatamab at 25 mg/kg alone (VM) and in combination with D (VD) at 75 mg/m2 q3w. Efficacy was assessed by investigators (RECIST 1.1). Primary objectives were safety and activity (objective response-rate [ORR]). Results: 55 pts have received treatment. In the Ph 2 study, 21 pts received VM, 15 pts received VD. 35% of pts were included as 2nd line therapy, 65% in 3rd or later line of treatment. For pts receiving VD, safety was consistent with Ph 1B data. For pts receiving VM, median age was 67 yrs, ECOG 1 = 71.4%, Hgb < 10 gm/dL 13%, liver metastases 19%, ≥ 2 prior regimens 57%, (best response to prior therapy PD 31%). TEAEs occurring in ≥5% patients were asthenia (19%), diarrhea (9.5%), flushing 14%, chills (9.5%), hypotension (9.5%), decreased appetite (19%) and creatinine increased (9.5%). The majority of TEAS were grade 1 and 2. Only 1 patient on MF had a grade 3 TEAE and only 1 patient discontinued treatment due to an AE. The ORR have been seen in 7 pts to date including those receiving both VM and VD. Conclusions: Vofatamab both alone and combined with D in an every 3-week schedule are well tolerated with a low frequency of grade 3 TEAEs. Both VM and VD have demonstrated efficacy in terms of ORR, and mature results with PFS data will be presented. Clinical trial information: NCT02401542.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the mortality and years of life lost (YLL) trends of cervical cancer in Tianjin, and provide references for the research and prevention programs of cervical cancer. Methods: Mortality rate, standard mortality rate, cumulative rate (0-74 years-old) and truncated rate (35-64 years-old) of cervical cancer from 1999 to 2015 were calculated. The annual percentage change of the mortality rate and YLL rate were analyzed by using Joinpoint regression analysis, and the trend in different age-groups were analyzed. Results: From 1999 to 2015, 1 741 cases died of cervical cancer in Tianjin, the average crude mortality rate was 2.15/100 000. The average age-standardized rate of (ASR) China and ASR world were 1.47/100 000 and 1.50/100 000 respectively. The average YLL was 3 347.97 person-years. Deaths occurred in those aged 0-34 years, 35-64 years and 65 years and over accounted for 3.10%, 57.84% and 39.06% of the total, respectively. The mortality rate of cervical cancer in urban area was higher than that in rural area, with a ratio of 1.37∶1 between urban area and rural area. The age-specific mortality rate of cervical cancer during 1999-2015 increased with age. Two peaks of mortality rate were observed in those aged 50 years and aged 75 years, during 2014-2015. From 1999 to 2011, the mortality rate of cervical cancer was stable (APC=-0.2%, P=0.80), but there was a rapid increase from 2011 to 2015 (APC=21.6%, P<0.01). But group aged 20-49 years, it showed an upward trend from 1999 to 2015 (APC=6.9%, P<0.01). For group aged 50-69 years, it showed a downward trend from 1999 to 2007 (APC=-9.2%, P<0.01), and an upward trend from 2007 to 2015 (APC=14.5%, P<0.01). For group aged 70 years and over, it showed a downward trend from 1999 to 2009 (APC=-10.2%, P<0.01), but the difference in the mortality were not significant from 2009 to 2015 (APC=7.8%, P=0.10). Since 2008, the YLL rate of cervical cancer in group aged 50-70 years had exceeded that in group aged >70 years and the gap gradually widened. Conclusions: There had been a rapid increase trend of cervical cancer mortality since 2011 in Tianjin. Women aged 50-70 years were the main group of life loss.

Abstract
Strontium (Sr) is an important nuclide in nuclear polluted seawater. Algal biosorption is regarded as an efficient and cost-effective way to scavenge detrimental metal ions of low concentration from polluted waters. In this study, we selected two algal species (Saccharina japonica and Sargassum horneri) through comparing background Sr contents in six algal species and explored their potential to scavenge Sr of low concentration from seawater in culture conditions. It was found that biosorption of Sr in S. japonica and S. horneri increased in response to increased Sr concentrations in the seawater and S. horneri adsorbed more Sr than S. japonica. The equilibrium established in their biosorption process follows both Langmiur and Freundlich equations well. The Sr biosorption process of S. horneri fits the pseudo-second-order kinetic model well, implying that adsorption was the rate-limiting step of the biosorption process. Results suggest S. japonica and S. horneri could become efficient biosorbents for in situ scavenging Sr from nuclear polluted seawater.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Studies from high-income countries report moderate-to-strong positive associations between alcohol use disorder (AUD) and other mental disorders, but there is little evidence about the comorbidity of AUD from low-and-middle-income countries. METHODS A sample of 74 752 adults from five provinces that account for >12% of China's adult population was screened using the General Health Questionnaire, and the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV was administered by psychiatrists to a subsample of 9619 males. The associations between AUD and other mental disorders at each site and the characteristics of men with AUD with and without comorbid mental disorders were estimated using logistic regression and summarized across sites using meta-analysis. Generalized estimation equations estimated the associations between the clinical features of alcohol dependence and comorbidity. RESULTS Robust inverse associations were found between current AUD and any mood disorder (adjusted OR = 0.6, 95% CI = 0.4-0.8) and any anxiety disorder (OR = 0.5, 95% CI = 0.3-1.0). Compared with men without AUD, men with AUD without comorbid disorders were more likely to be middle-aged, to be currently married, and to have higher family incomes. Men with comorbid AUD and other disorders were more likely to have the clinical features of alcohol dependence than men with AUD without comorbid disorders. CONCLUSIONS Inverse associations between AUD and other mental disorders and the higher social status of men with AUD than men without AUD found in this large, representative sample of community-dwelling Chinese males highlight the importance of considering the local substance-use culture when designing clinical or preventive interventions for addictive conditions.

Abstract
Pigs have been recognised as a reservoir of livestock associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (LA-MRSA) in Europe, Asia and North America. However, little is known about the presence and distribution of MRSA in the Australian pig population and pig industry. This study describes the presence, distribution and molecular characteristics of the human adapted Australian CA-MRSA ST93 isolated from pigs, people, and the environment within a piggery. Isolates were subjected to antibiotic susceptibility testing, DNA microarray, whole genome sequencing, multi locus sequence typing, virulence and resistance gene characterization and phylogenetic analysis. MRSA were isolated from 60% (n = 52) of farm workers where 84% of isolates returned ST93 and the rest ST398. Of the thirty-one pig isolates tested further, an equal number of ST398 and ST93 (15 each) and one as ST30-V were identified. Four of six environmental isolates were identified as ST93 and two as ST398. This study has identified for the first time in Australia the occurrence of CA-MRSA ST93 and LA-MRSA ST398 amongst farm workers, pigs, and the farm environment. Comparative genome analysis indicates that ST398 is likely to have been introduced into Australia from Europe or North America. This study also reports the first linezolid resistant MRSA isolated in Australia.

Abstract
AIM To assess the extent of sigmoid sinus dehiscence (SSD) on high-resolution computed tomography venography (HRCTV) or high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) images in pulsatile tinnitus (PT) and non-PT groups to determine whether there is an association between the extent of SSD and occurrence of PT. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-eight SSD patients with ipsilateral PT and 28 age- and gender-matched SSD patients without PT who underwent HRCTV or HRCT were enrolled in this study and categorised into two groups: "PT group" and "non-PT group". The extent of SSD in each group was calculated and compared. RESULTS The largest transverse diameter and largest vertical diameter of SSD in the PT group were 6.21±1.7 and 6.15±2.19 mm, respectively. The largest transverse diameter and largest vertical diameter of SSD in the non-PT group were 3.06±1.38 and 2.51±1.03 mm, respectively. The extent of SSD was statistically different between the two groups (p<0.001; p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS As a cause of PT, SSD can also occur in individuals without PT symptoms. Preliminary findings suggest that there may be a potential correlation between the extent of SSD and an occurrence of PT.

Abstract
Sargassum thunbergii (Mertens ex Roth) Kuntze is a common brown seaweed in rocky intertidal zones along the northwestern Pacific coast. In the present study, we sequenced and annotated the complete mitochondrial genome of S. thunbergii. The circular S. thunbergii mitogenome is 34,748 bp in size and contains the same set of 65 genes as other mtDNAs in four Sargassum species. The genome organization including the gene order, overlapping regions between genes and the total length of inter-genic regions is highly similar to the other Bactrophycus species. The comparison by genome scale alignment displays only minor differences in gene lengths, but higher divergence in inter-genic spacer regions, especially the cox3-atp6 inter-genic spacer. Mitochondrial phylogenomics suggests that S. thunbergii is tightly combined with Sargassum muticum and Sargassum hemiphyllum forming the sect. Teretia clade with strong support values (NJ/ML, 100%). The present data illustrate that the complete mtDNAs could provide a more complete assessment of their phylogenetic relationships.

Abstract
Colpomenia peregrina Sauvageau has a biphasic, heteromorphic life history alternated with saccate gametophytes and crustose sporophytes. The circular C. peregrina mitogenome is 36,025 bp in length and encodes 66 genes, including 3 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), 25 transfer RNA genes (tRNA), 35 protein-coding genes, and 3 open reading frames (ORFs). It is the shortest and most compact of the sequenced Ectocarpales mitogenomes to date. The overall A + T content in C. peregrina mitogenome is 68.01%, higher than that of other reported Ectocarpales species (62.01-66.49%). The total intergenic spacers are 1499 bp, constituting 4.16% of the whole genome. Genome organization of C. peregrina is essentially identical to that of known Ectocarpales species, except for Pylaiella littoralis. Phylogenetic analyses based on 35 protein-coding genes show that Scytosiphon lomentaria and Petalonia fascia firstly cluster together, and then group with C. peregrina forming the Scytosiphon-Petalonia-Colpomenia subclade with high support values, indicating their close evolutionary relationships.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Adipose tissue is an attractive source of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) as it is largely dispensable and readily accessible through minimally invasive procedures such as liposuction. Until recently MSC could only be isolated in a process involving ex-vivo culture and their in-vivo identity, location and frequency remained elusive. We have documented that pericytes (CD45-, CD146+, and CD34-) and adventitial cells (CD45-, CD146-, CD34+) (collectively termed perivascular stem cells or PSC) represent native ancestors of the MSC, and can be prospectively purified using fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS). In this study we describe an optimized protocol that aims to deliver pure, viable and consistent yields of PSC from adipose tissue. We analysed the frequency of PSC within adipose tissue, and the effect of patient and procedure based variables on this yield. METHODS Within this twin centre study we analysed the adipose tissue of n = 131 donors using flow cytometry to determine the frequency of PSC and correlate this with demographic and processing data such as age, sex, BMI and cold storage time of the tissue. RESULTS The mean number of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) cells from 100 ml of lipoaspirate was 34.4 million. Within the SVF, mean cell viability was 83 %, with 31.6 % of cells being haematopoietic (CD45+). Adventitial cells and pericytes represented 33.0 % and 8 % of SVF cells respectively. Therefore, a 200 ml lipoaspirate would theoretically yield 23.2 million viable prospectively purified PSC - sufficient for many reconstructive and regenerative applications. Minimal changes were observed in respect to age, sex and BMI suggesting universal potential application. CONCLUSIONS Adipose tissue contains two anatomically and phenotypically discreet populations of MSC precursors - adventitial cells and pericytes - together referred to as perivascular stem cells (PSC). More than 9 million PSC per 100 ml of lipoaspirate can be rapidly purified to homogeneity using flow cytometry in clinically relevant numbers potentially circumventing the need for purification and expansion by culture prior to clinical use. The number and viability of PSC are minimally affected by patient age, sex, BMI or the storage time of the tissue, but the quality and consistency of yield can be significantly influenced by procedure based variables.

Abstract
IntroductionVarious socio-demographic variables have been shown to influence attitudes towards seeking professional psychological help (ATSPPH), while negative ATSPPH can act as a barrier to mental healthcare, resulting in under-utilization of psychological services.Aims and objectivesTo explore the factor structure of the ATSPPH scale and determine whether any significant socio-demographic differences exist in relation to ATSPPH among a nationally representative sample.MethodsData was extracted from a population-based, cross-sectional survey conducted between March 2014 and March 2015 among Singapore Residents aged 18-65 years (n = 3006). Respondents completed the 10-item ATSPPH scale and also provided socio-demographic information. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed to establish the factor structure of the ATSPPH scale. Multivariable linear regression analyses were conducted to examine socio-demographic factors associated with ATSPPH.ResultsEFA revealed that the ATSPPH scale formed three distinct dimensions comprising “Openness to seeking professional help”, “Value in seeking professional help” and “Preference to cope on your own”. Higher “Openness to seeking professional help” scores were significantly associated with 18-34-year-olds and unmarried respondents, whilst Malay ethnicity and lower education were significantly associated with lower openness scores. Malays, Indians and lower education were significantly associated with lower “Value in seeking professional help” scores, whereas higher “Preference to cope on your own” scores were significantly associated with lower education.ConclusionPopulation subgroups including those with lower educational levels and different ethnic groups have more negative ATSPPH. Abstract
BACKGROUND Undaria pinnatifida is an important economic brown alga in East Asian countries. However, its genetic and genomic information is very scarce, which hinders further research in this species. A high-density genetic map is a basic tool for fundamental and applied research such as discovery of functional genes and mapping of quantitative trait loci (QTL). In this study the recently developed specific length amplified fragment sequencing (SLAF-seq) technology was employed to construct a high-density genetic linkage map and locate a sex determining locus for U. pinnatifida. RESULTS A total of 28.06 Gb data including 140.31 M pair-end reads was obtained. After linkage analysis 4626 SLAF markers were mapped onto the genetic map. After adding the sex linked simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker [GenBank:AY738602.1], the final genetic map was 1816.28 cM long, consisting of 30 linkage groups with an average distance of 0.39 cM between adjacent markers. The length of LGs ranged from 20.12 to 106.95 cM. A major sex associated QTL was mapped to LG22 within a window starting at 29.01 cM and ending at 68.81 cM with a total of 68 SLAF markers. The SSR marker and five SLAF markers (Marker6556, 19020, 43089, 60771 and 26359) were identified as tightly sex-linked markers, as indicated by the absence of recombination between them and the sex phenotype. These markers were located at the position of 59.50 cM, which was supposed to be the sex determining region. CONCLUSIONS A high-density genetic linkage map was constructed using SLAF-seq technique and F1 gametophyte population for the first time in the economically important brown alga U. pinnatifida. For the first time, a major sex associated QTL suggesting a sex determining region was mapped to a single LG. This map will facilitate the further fundamental and applied research such as QTL mapping and map-based gene clone in U. pinnatifida and provide a reference for studies in other kelp species.

Abstract
Turbinaria ornata (Turner) J. Agardh is a perennial brown alga native to coral reef ecosystems of tropical areas of the Pacific and Indian Ocean. Very little is known about its organellar genome structure. In the present work, the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of T. ornata was determined and compared with other reported brown algal mtDNAs. The circular mitogenome of 34,981 bp contains a basic set of 65 mitochondrial genes. The structure and organization of T. ornata mitogenome is very similar to Sargassum species. Turbinaria ornata genes overlap by a total of 164 bp in 12 different locations from 1 to 66 bp, and the non-coding sequences are 1872 bp, constituting approximate 5.35 % of the genome. The total spacer size has positive correlation with the brown algal mitogenome size with the correlation coefficient of 0.7972. Several regions displaying greater inconsistency (rnl-trnK spacer, cox2 gene, cox3-atp6 spacer, rps14-rns middle region and trnP-rnl spacer) have been identified in brown algal mtDNAs. The observed uncertainty regarding the position and support values of some branches might be closely associated with the heterogeneity of evolutionary rate.

Abstract
Metallic drug-eluting stents (DES) are the first choice for percutaneous coronary interventional treatment of coronary artery disease at present. Although they have overcome some disadvantages and limitations of plain balloon angioplasty and bare-metal stents, chronic local inflammatory reactions related to permanent polymer existence and poor vascular healing after first generation DES implantation may translate into the increased risk of late and very late stent thrombosis. There have been technological developments in stent design, materials and coatings, including more conformable platform designs, biocompatible or biodegradable polymers and improved kinetics of drug release. The newer generation DES have proven superior to previous DES technology in terms of both safety and efficacy. Accumulating evidence has suggested that DES with cobalt chromium stent platform, modified biodegradable polymer coatings, and rapamycin derivative drugs are associated with improved clinical outcomes. Currently, several new cobalt chromium biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stents have been introduced to clinical practice. This review will describe basic concept and rationale behind the newer cobalt chromium biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stents, systematically present the new clinical experiences with several representative devices.

Abstract
Sargassum fusiforme (Harvey) Setchell (=Hizikia fusiformis (Harvey) Okamura) is one of the most important economic seaweeds for mariculture in China. In this study, we present the complete mitochondrial genome of S. fusiforme. The genome is 34,696 bp in length with circular organization, encoding the standard set of three ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), 25 transfer RNA genes (tRNA), 35 protein-coding genes, and two conserved open reading frames (ORFs). Its total AT content is 62.47%, lower than other brown algae except Pylaiella littoralis. The mitogenome carries 1571 bp of intergenic region constituting 4.53% of the genome, and 13 pairs of overlapping genes with the overlap size from 1 to 90 bp. The phylogenetic analyses based on 35 protein-coding genes reveal that S. fusiforme has a closer evolutionary relationship with Sargassum muticum than Sargassum horneri, indicating Hizikia are not distinct evolutionary entity and should be reduced to synonymy with Sargassum.

Abstract
Sargassum muticum (Yendo) Fensholt is an invasive canopy-forming brown alga, expanding its presence from Northeast Asia to North America and Europe. The complete mitochondrial genome of S. muticum is characterized as a circular molecule of 34,720 bp. The overall AT content of S. muticum mitogenome is 63.41%. This mitogenome contains 65 genes typically found in brown algae, including 3 ribosomal RNA genes, 25 transfer RNA genes, 35 protein-coding genes, and 2 conserved open reading frames (ORFs). The gene order of mitogenome for S. muticum is identical to that for Sargassum horneri, Fucus vesiculosus and Desmarestia viridis. Phylogenetic analyses based on 35 protein-coding genes reveal that S. muticum has a close evolutionary relationship with S. horneri and a distant relationship with Dictyota dichotoma, supporting current taxonomic systems. The present investigation provides new molecular data for studies of S. muticum population diversity as well as comparative genomics in the Phaeophyceae.
