Abstract
BACKGROUND Tyrosine phosphorylation of intracellular proteins is a post-translational modification that plays a regulatory role in signal transduction during cellular events. Dephosphorylation of signal transduction proteins caused by protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) contributed their role as a convergent node to mediate cross-talk between signaling pathways. In the context of cancer, PTP-mediated pathways have been identified as signaling hubs that enabled cancer cells to mitigate stress induced by clinical therapy. This is achieved by the promotion of constitutive activation of growth-stimulatory signaling pathways or modulation of the immune-suppressive tumor microenvironment. Preclinical evidences suggested that anticancer drugs will release their greatest therapeutic potency when combined with PTP inhibitors, reversing drug resistance that was responsible for clinical failures during cancer therapy. AREAS COVERED This review aimed to elaborate recent insights that supported the involvement of PTP-mediated pathways in the development of resistance to targeted therapy and immune-checkpoint therapy. EXPERT OPINION This review proposed the notion of PTP inhibition in anticancer combination therapy as a potential strategy in clinic to achieve long-term tumor regression. Ongoing clinical trials are currently underway to assess the safety and efficacy of combination therapy in advanced-stage tumors.

Abstract
A novel catalytic system for radical cross-coupling reactions based on copper and chiral Pyridyl-bis(imidazole) (PyBim) ligands is described. It overcomes the challenges of chemoselectivity and enantioselectivity, achieving a highly enantioselective vicinal sulfonyl-esterification reaction of alkenes involving sulfur dioxide. This strategy involves the use of earth-abundant metal catalyst, mild reaction conditions, a broad range of substrates (84 examples), high yields (up to 97% yield), and exceptional control over enantioselectivity. The reaction system is compatible with different types of radical precursors, including O-acylhydroxylamines, cycloketone oxime esters, aryldiazonium salts, and drug molecules. Chiral ligand PyBim is identified as particularly effective in achieving the desired high enantioselectivity. Mechanistic studies reveal that copper/PyBim system plays a vital role in C─O coupling, employing an outer-sphere model. In addition, the side arm effect of ligand is observed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES In vivo, the principal function of mechanosensitive odontoblasts is to synthesize and secrete the matrix which then calcifies and forms reactive dentin after exposure to appropriate stimuli. This study aims to develop the influence of mechanical factors on dentinogenesis based on odontoblasts, which contribute to reparative dentin formation. METHODS We fabricated polydimethylsiloxane with different stiffnesses and seeded 17IIA11 odontoblast-like cells on the substrates in different stiffnesses. Cell morphology was detected by scanning electron microscope, and the mineralization phenotype was detected by alkaline phosphatase staining and alizarin red staining, while expression levels of dentinogenesis-related genes (including Runx2, Osx, and Alp) were assayed by qPCR. To explore mechanism, protein distribution and expression levels were detected by immunofluorescent staining, Western blotting, and immunoprecipitation. RESULTS In our results, during dentinogenesis, 17IIA11 odontoblast-like cells appeared better extension on stiffer substrates. The binding between LAMB1 and FAK contributed to converting mechanical stimuli into biochemical signaling, thereby controlling mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1/2 activity in stiffness-driven dentinogenesis. CONCLUSION The present study suggests odontoblast behaviors can be directly regulated by mechanical factors at cell-material interfaces, which offers fundamental mechanism in remodeling cell microenvironment, thereby contributing to physiological phenomena explanation and tissue engineering progress.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Carcinosarcoma (CS) is a rare and biphasic malignancy characterised by a highly invasive biological nature and poor prognosis. This study explored the epidemiology, site-specific characteristics and survival outcome of CS. DESIGN We conducted a retrospective study in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database (1975-2018) for primary CS. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS SEER database includes publicly available information from regional and state cancer registries in the US centres. A total of 5042 CS patients were identified. We selected the top five anatomic CS (uterus, double adnexa, lung, bladder and breast) patients for further analysis. PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURES Incidence was estimated by geographical region, age, sex, race, stage and primary site. Trends were calculated using joinpoint regression. The cancer-specific survival (CSS) rate and initial treatment were summarised. RESULTS Nearly 80% of CS occurred in the uterus and double adnexa, followed by lung, bladder and breast. The elderly and black population presented the highest age-adjusted rate of CS. The rates of distant metastasis in CS progressively increased from 1989 to 2018. Atlanta was the area with the highest incidence at 0.7 per 100 000. Pulmonary and bladder CS more frequently occurred in men and were diagnosed with regional stage. Distant metastasis was mostly found in ovary/fallopian tube CS. Radiotherapy was more commonly applied in uterine CS, while adnexa CS cases were more likely to receive chemotherapy. Multiple treatments were more used in breast CS. Pulmonary CS seemed to suffer worse CSS (median: 9.92 months), for which radiotherapy might not provide survival benefits (HR 0.60, 95% CI 0.42 to 0.86). Compared with the common histological types in each site, CS had the shortest survival. CONCLUSIONS CS has unique clinical features in each primary site. Substantial prognosis variances exist based on tumour locations. The aggressive course is the common feature in CS at all sites.

Abstract
Background Internet addiction (IA) among students, worsened by Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, has become a social problem with the digitalization of school learning and many aspects of daily life. However, few studies on IA have been conducted among students after the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in China. Method This large-sample, cross-sectional, online survey was conducted to explore the characteristics of IA and the association among IA, academic satisfaction, and mental health problems from December 14, 2022 to February 28, 2023 in Sichuan, China. All participants (N = 22,605) were students in colleges and universities, recruited via their teachers and professors. Results Of all the participants, 14,921 (66.0%) participants had IA. Participants with IA were more likely to have depression symptom, anxiety symptom, insomnia, and lifetime suicidal ideation. In addition, participants with severe IA had significantly higher rates of mental health problems (e.g., depression, anxiety, insomnia, and suicidal ideation) than those with mild IA. A significant IA-by-academic satisfactory-interaction on mental health was identified: participants with higher level of IA showed particularly severe symptom of depression, anxiety and insomnia when affected by low satisfactory of academy (p < 0.001). Conclusion This study reveals that IA has a significantly negative impact on mental health among college students after the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in China. IA and academic satisfaction have interactive impacts on mental health problems among students. Further educational and health policies and psychosocial interventions should be developed to reduce IA and enhance academic satisfaction for improving students' mental health.

Abstract
Cancer, as the leading cause of death worldwide, poses a serious threat to human health, making the development of effective tumor treatments a significant challenge. Natural products continue to serve as crucial resources for drug discovery. Among them, Withaferin A (WA), the most active phytocompound extracted from the renowned dietary supplement Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal, exhibits remarkable anti-tumor efficacy. In this manuscript, we aim to comprehensively summarize the pharmacological characteristics of WA as a potential anti-tumor drug candidate, with the objective of contributing to its further development and the discovery of prospective drugs. Through an extensive review of literature from PubMed, Science Direct, and Web of Science, we have gathered substantial evidence showcasing WA's significant anti-tumor effects against a wide range of cancers in both in vitro and in vivo studies. Mechanistically, WA exerts its anti-tumor influence by inducing cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, autophagy, and ferroptosis. Additionally, it inhibits cell proliferation, cancer stem cells, tumor metastasis, and also suppresses epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and angiogenesis. Several studies have identified direct target proteins of WA, such as vimentin, Hsp90, annexin II and mFAM72A, while BCR-ABL, Mortalin (mtHsp70), Nrf2, and c-MYB are potential targets of WA. Notwithstanding its remarkable anti-tumor efficacy, there are some limitations associated with WA, including potential toxicity and poor oral bioavailability, which need to be addressed when considering it as an anti-tumor candidate agent. Nevertheless, I given its promising anti-tumor attributes, WA remains an encouraging candidate for future drug development. Unveiling the exact target and comprehensive mechanism of WA's action represents a crucial research direction to pursue in the future.

Abstract
Background Glycogen storage disease (GSD) type Ⅲa is a rare autosomal recessive disorder resulting in the accumulation of abnormally structured glycogen in the liver, skeletal muscle, and cardiac muscle. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) tissue characteristics in GSD have rarely been reported. Case summary We report a 24-year-old male patient suffering from recurrent palpitation and atypical chest pain for 5 years with suspected hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Laboratory tests revealed an elevated creatine kinase, and physical exam revealed hepatosplenomegaly. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance demonstrated asymmetrical massive left ventricular hypertrophy with a maximal thickness of 34.6 mm in the septum. In the regions with focal late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in the anterior septum, both native T1 and extracellular volume (ECV) are elevated. However, in the LGE-negative regions of the myocardium, native T1 was elevated without elevation in ECV (septum, 22.7%; free wall, 20.9%). Whole exome sequencing revealed a novel pathogenic homozygous nonsense variant of the AGL gene (c.4284 T > G, p. Tyr1428*), confirming the diagnosis of the patients as GSD type Ⅲa. Discussion This case showed increased diffuse native T1 but not ECV on CMR in LGE-negative myocardium in GSD, which indicates that the T1 value is increased with an accumulation of glycogen in the myocardium, but the ECV space was not expanded in this process. Genetic testing should be obtained in severe LV hypertrophy when multi-organ involvement is present, and myocardial tissue characterization is discrepant between T1 elevation and normal ECV to consider glycogen storage disorder.

Abstract
Background Although the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly changed the way students studied, it is still unknown about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students' academic performance and mental health. Objective To explore the academic performance and mental health status of middle and high school students after the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in China. Methods An online survey was conducted in Sichuan province, China from Dec 14, 2022 to Feb 28, 2023. All participants were students in middle and high schools, recruited via their teachers. The general information, COVID-19-related information, and academic performance were collected. The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), and Internet Addiction Test (IAT) were used to assess the mental health problems. Results Of 60,268 participants, 36,247 (60.2%) middle and high school students reported that their studies were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and 24,864 (41.2%) reported that their academic performance had worsened. The prevalence of depression and anxiety symptoms was 38.4 and 32.7%, respectively. There was a significant association between academic performance change and mental health problems. The logistic regression analysis showed that improved academic performance was a protective factor for depression, and declined academic performance was a risk factor for depression and anxiety. Being COVID-19 infected, family members being infected, with quarantine experience, and with COVID-19-related stigma were risk factors for depression and anxiety. Conclusion Academic studies and mental health status of middle and high school students in Sichuan, China have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, even after the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions. Students' academic performance, academic concerns, and mental health status should be considered for educational policymakers and institutions to improve students' academic studies and mental well-being.

Abstract
Metal-porphyrins or metal-phthalocyanines-based organic frameworks (POFs), an emerging family of metal-N-C materials, have attracted widespread interest for application in electrocatalysis due to their unique metal-N4 coordination structure, high conjugated π-electron system, tunable components, and chemical stability. The key challenges of POFs as high-performance electrocatalysts are the need for rational design for porphyrins/phthalocyanines building blocks and an in-depth understanding of structure-activity relationships. Herein, the synthesis methods, the catalytic activity modulation principles, and the electrocatalytic behaviors of 2D/3D POFs are summarized. Notably, detailed pathways are given for modulating the intrinsic activity of the M-N4 site by the microenvironments, including central metal ions, substituent groups, and heteroatom dopants. Meanwhile, the topology tuning and hybrid system, which affect the conjugation network or conductivity of POFs, are also considered. Furthermore, the representative electrocatalytic applications of structured POFs in efficient and environmental-friendly energy conversion areas, such as carbon dioxide reduction reaction, oxygen reduction reaction, and water splitting are briefly discussed. Overall, this comprehensive review focusing on the frontier will provide multidisciplinary and multi-perspective guidance for the subsequent experimental and theoretical progress of POFs and reveal their key challenges and application prospects in future electrocatalytic energy conversion systems.

Abstract
ABSTRACT
A decade ago, a group of researchers from academia and industry identified a dichotomy between the industrial and academic state-of-the-art in upper-limb prosthesis control, a widely used bio-robotics application. They proposed that four key technical challenges, if addressed, could bridge this gap and translate academic research into clinically and commercially viable products. These challenges are unintuitive control schemes, lack of sensory feedback, poor robustness and single sensor modality. Here, we provide a perspective review on the research effort that occurred in the last decade, aiming at addressing these challenges. In addition, we discuss three research areas essential to the recent development in upper-limb prosthetic control research but were not envisioned in the review 10 years ago: deep learning methods, surface electromyogram decomposition and open-source databases. To conclude the review, we provide an outlook into the near future of the research and development in upper-limb prosthetic control and beyond.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The COVID-19 outbreak has caused enormous strain on healthcare systems, and healthcare trainees, which comprise the future healthcare workforce, may be a vulnerable group. It is essential to assess the psychological distress experienced by healthcare trainees during the COVID-19 outbreak. DESIGN, SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS A cross-sectional study with 4184 healthcare trainees at Sichuan University in China was implemented during 7-13 February 2020. Participants were grouped by training programmes (medicine, medical technology and nursing) and training stages (undergraduate, postgraduate and residency). MAIN OUTCOMES COVID-19-related psychological distress and acute stress reaction (ASR) were assessed using the Kessler 6-item Psychological Distress Scale and the Impact of Event Scale-Revised, respectively. We estimated the ORs of distress by comparing trainees across programmes and training stages using multivariable logistic regression. RESULTS Significant psychological distress was found in 1150 (30.90%) participants and probable ASR in 403 (10.74%). Compared with the nursing trainees, the medical trainees (OR 1.54, 95% CI 1.22 to 1.95) reported a higher burden of psychological distress during the outbreak, while the medical technology trainees (OR 1.25, 95% CI 0.97 to 1.62) reported similar symptom scores. Postgraduates (OR 1.55, 95% CI 1.16 to 2.08) in medicine had higher levels of distress than their undergraduate counterparts did, whereas the nursing residents (OR 0.38, 95% CI 0.20 to 0.71) reported a lower burden than did nursing undergraduates. A positive association was found between having active clinical duties during the outbreak and distress (OR 1.17, 95% CI 0.98 to 1.39), particularly among the medical trainees (OR 1.85, 95% CI 1.47 to 2.33) and undergraduates (OR 4.20, 95% CI 1.61 to 11.70). No clear risk patterns of ASR symptoms were observed. CONCLUSIONS Medical trainees, particularly postgraduates and those with active clinical duties, were at risk for psychological distress during the COVID-19 outbreak. Stress management may be considered for high-risk healthcare trainees.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Declared as pandemic by WHO, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia has brought great damage to human health. The uncontrollable spread and poor progression of COVID-19 have attracted much attention from all over the world. We designed this study to develop a prognostic nomogram incorporating Prognostic nutritional index (PNI) in COVID-19 patients. METHODS Patients confirmed with COVID-19 and treated in Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from January to February 2020 were included in this study. We used logistic regression analysis to find risk factors of mortality in these patients. A prognostic nomogram was constructed and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve was drawn to evaluate the predictive value of PNI and this prognostic model. RESULTS Comparison of baseline characteristics showed non-survivors had higher age (P < .001), male ratio (P = .038), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) (P < .001), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) (P < .001), and PNI (P < .001) than survivors. In the multivariate logistic regression analysis, independent risk factors of mortality in COVID-19 patients included white blood cell (WBC) (OR 1.285, P = .039), PNI (OR 0.790, P = .029), LDH (OR 1.011, P < .015). These three factors were combined to build the prognostic model. Area under the ROC curve (AUC) of only PNI and the prognostic model was 0.849 (95%Cl 0.811-0.888) and 0.950 (95%Cl 0.922-0.978), respectively. And calibration plot showed good stability of the prognostic model. CONCLUSION This research indicates PNI is independently associated with the mortality of COVID-19 patients.
