Abstract
Pilot tends to have a high prevalence of dyslipidemia. The present study aimed to identify key factors of pilot hyperlipidemia through thorough analysis of physical examination data, and to provide pilot-targeted health guidance to manage hyperlipidemia risks. The physical examination data of 1,253 pilot inpatients from January 2019 to June 2022, were evaluated and divided into two groups based on whether or not the pilot had hyperlipidemia. A total of three multivariate analysis models including logistic model, multilevel model and boosting propensity score were applied to find the risk factors of pilot hyperlipidemia. In the group of pilots with hyperlipidemia, four risk factors, including thrombin time, carbohydrate antigen 199, lymphocyte count and rheumatoid factor, were significantly different from pilots without hyperlipidemia, which might be positively associated with the incidence of hyperlipidemia. In future studies regarding pilots, whether hyperlipidemia is connected to abnormalities in thrombin time, carbohydrate antigen 199 and rheumatoid factor should be further explored. Based on the findings of the present study, pilot health management should be more refined and personalized, and attention should be paid to the risk factors of hyperlipidemia including diet and lifestyle.

Abstract
We proceeded with this study to investigate the relationship between hypothyroidism and lipid profile disturbance. A cross-sectional study at Al- Mowasat University Hospital in Damascus was conducted from March 2021 to March 2022, and included 324 adults. For each participant with abnormal thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (FT4) was requested. The participants were categorized into 3 groups: euthyroid (226 participants), subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) (75 participants), and overt hypothyroidism (23 participants). Fasting lipid profile was tested as: cholesterol (Chol), triglycerides (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), and high density lipoprotein (HDL). A significant relationship between hypothyroidism and dyslipidemia was noticed. LDL, TG, and Chol but not HDL showed a significant difference between study groups (euthyroidism, subclinical, and overt hypothyroidism). The lowest levels of these parameters were in euthyroidism and increased in subclinical and overt hypothyroidism subsequently. Overt hypothyroidism showed a significant difference in LDL, TG, and Chol compared to euthyroidism, however, we did not find a difference in lipid parameters in SCH compared to euthyroidism. LDL and Chol showed significant differences between subclinical and overt hypothyroidism. TSH had a positive weak correlation with LDL, TG, and Chol, however, there was no correlation with HDL. Also, FT4 had a negative weak correlation with LDL, TG, and Chol, however, there was a positive correlation with HDL. Our findings suggest a higher level of lipids (LDL, TG, and Chol) among SCH and overt hypothyroidism compared to general population. A weak correlations of lipid parameters with TSH and FT4 were detected. It is not well evident whether a restoration of euthyroidism might influence the morbidity and mortality, especially cardiovascular comorbidities, in this population, which mandates future studies.

Abstract
There is an increasing interest in dyslipidemia in adult patients since it is known to contribute to early cardiovascular disease. Often, dyslipidemia starts in childhood, and it is associated with aggravating lifestyle choices concerning eating habits, such as the tendency to consume processed food and fast food, as well as the tendency to be more and more sedentary. We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study describing the prevalence of dyslipidemia in a single medical center in Romania and the associated pathology. We evaluated all lipid profiles that were ordered in our clinic over nine years. We included 2413 patients that were evaluated in our clinic in the timeframe 2011-2020. Out of them, 18.23% had high values for LDL-cholesterol. More than a quarter (25.91%) were diagnosed with obesity. 11.37% of the patients with high LDL-cholesterol levels had various metabolic disorders including primary dyslipidemia. A small number of patients with hypercholesterolemia had thyroid disorders (4.10%). Patients with high LDL-cholesterol had various diagnoses ranging from metabolic to neurologic disorders, keeping in mind that there are multiple pathologies that can lead to dyslipidemia. Evaluating children for dyslipidemia is at hand for medical professionals. Screening for dyslipidemia in children would provide the opportunity to prevent rather than treat cardiovascular events.

Abstract
Hyperthyroidism-induced liver injury is quite common in clinical settings. Therefore, developing rapid and simple methods for the assessment of hyperthyroid liver injury is of great significance. Considering phosphorus metabolism is disordered because of hyperthyroidism, and the hyperthyroid liver injury is closely related to the abnormal level of glutathione (GSH). Thus, development of a new method that can simultaneously detect changes in blood phosphorus and GSH levels of serum, liver, kidney, and other organs to assess the degree of hyperthyroid liver injury is necessary for clinical medical research. Herein, a novel fluorescent metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) nanoprobe using the UiO-66(OH)2 as core and Cu-MOFs as shell was designed and synthesized. Through the specific action between Zr (IV) and phosphate, and the combine interaction of MOFs active center Cu (II) and GSH, high sensitivity and specific fluorescence detection of phosphate and GSH were achieved, respectively. Finally, the nanosensor was applied for evaluating different degrees of hyperthyroid liver injury in mice models and realized the monitoring of serum, liver, kidney, and other organs' blood phosphorus and GSH levels, and found that the levels of phosphate and GSH in serum were negatively correlated with the degree of hyperthyroid liver injury, while the changes of phosphate and GSH levels in the liver and kidney organs were positively correlated with the degree of hyperthyroid liver injury. In general, the present works provide a new way to effectively evaluate liver injury induced by hyperthyroidism in the early clinical stage.

Abstract
Primary hypothyroidism can affect lipid metabolism, cardiovascular (CV) function, and overall patients' quality of life (QoL). Decrease in serum nitric oxide (NO) levels could promote the atherosclerosis acceleration in hypothyroid patients. Our hypothesis is that serum NO level is altered in hypothyroidism; more specifically, we hypothesize that the early vascular changes that can be observed in hypothyroidism could be due to these alterations and that serum NO levels are associated with lipid levels in female patients diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) or clinical hypothyroidism (CH). Furthermore, since serum NO level is an early marker of atherosclerosis and related CV disorders, which are commonly present and follow hypothyreosis and greatly contribute to overall QoL, we further hypothesized that NO level would correlate with Thyroid Symptom Questionnaire (TSQ) and General Health Questionnaire 12 (GHQ12) scores in hypothyroid patients. A collaterally of our hypothesis was that levothyroxine (LT4) treatment would affect serum NO levels as well as TSQ and GHQ12 scores. Therefore, we have analyzed lipid profile, the level of NO and QoL scores in female patients diagnosed with SCH and CH in order to determine the correlation between NO and generic and thyroid disease symptoms in treatment naïve SCH and CH patients and after LT4 treatment and laboratory euthyroidism achievement. As a consequence of our hypothesis is that measurement of serum NO level in SCH and CH patients may be an innovative way to improve LT4 treatment efficacy. This assumption could have a practical significance for future investigations regarding the management of hypothyroidism treatment protocols in current guidelines.

Abstract
Background Iodine is a nonpareil constituent of thyroid hormones (THs) and a prime regulator of thyroid gland functioning. Although essential at recommended levels for the prevention of iodine deficiency disorders (IDDs), exposure to excess iodine reportedly causes hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and several other emerging deleterious impacts. The objective of the present study is to explore the influence of excess iodide exposure on carbohydrate and lipid metabolism along with the histoarchitecture of certain associated organs such as the pancreas, liver, kidney, and skeletal and cardiac muscle because information on those aspects was found to be scanty. Methods Twelve rats were taken, six were fed with iodine through gavage at a dose of 3.5 mg potassium iodide (KI)/100-g body weight, which corresponded to 500 times of the physiological daily dosage of iodide for a period of 60 days, while the other six formed the control group. Results KI-treated rats presented high body weight and urinary iodine with low TH levels, suggesting a primary thyroid dysfunction. There was an increase in blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein (LDL), and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), while high density lipoprotein (HDL) levels decreased. Tissue glycogen content in the liver and skeletal muscle was decreased and was increased in the heart and kidney. Histological sections of the pancreas showed a complete disruption with hardly recognizable histoarchistructure. Treated liver sections displayed the broadened central vein with degenerated hepatocytes, while skeletal muscle sections showed dissolution of muscle fibre cells linked with loss of glycogen from these organs. Histological changes in the heart include features similar to those of a fatty heart with cardiac muscles mutilation, while that of the kidney shows an increase in glomerular tuft size and Bowman's space expansion with general deterioration. Conclusions It may thus be concluded that excess iodine exposure for a long duration causes the development of a biochemical state of hypothyroidism. The developed hypothyroidism was found responsible for the hyperglycaemic and hypercholestromic status evident by high blood glucose and cholesterol levels and the depletion of glycogen at its storage sites in the liver and skeletal muscle but the extra deposition in the cardiac muscle and kidney; histomicrophotographs showed severe destruction of the pancreatic structure. All these alterations are conducive for the pathogenesis of cardiovascular and kidney diseases.

Abstract
We assess long-term changes in lipid levels in human immunodeficiency disease- (HIV-) infected patients undergoing highly active antiretroviral treatment (HAART) and their association with diabetes mellitus (DM) and thyroid dysfunction. We observed changes in the levels of total cholesterol (TC) and total triglyceride (TG) of 63 HIV-infected patients in the 6 years from starting HAART and analyzed correlations between relevant parameters. TC levels of patients with normal baseline TC levels as well as those diagnosed with DM or impaired fasting glucose (IFG) increased significantly (P < 0.05) as did the TG levels of patients with normal baseline TG levels (P < 0.05). TC levels of patients with hypercholesterolemia in the year HAART was initiated were significantly higher than those of patients with normal baseline TC levels (P < 0.05) for all 6 years. TC levels of patients diagnosed with DM were significantly higher than those with euglycemia (P < 0.05) 2 and 4 years after HAART commencement. Levels of TC, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) were correlated negatively with viral load, whereas levels of TC and very-low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (VLDL-C) were correlated positively with CD4+ cell counts before HAART commencement. Linear mixed-effect model demonstrated disturbance of glucose metabolism and HAART containing nevirapine and CD4+ cell count were positively correlated with TC levels after HAART commencement. These findings suggest that there are changes in the lipid levels of patients undergoing HAART, with the potential risk of dyslipidemia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Subclinical hypothyroidism (sHT) is a condition defined by elevated TSH values with normal levels of free thyroid hormones. Altered metabolic status is one of the consequences of sHT which can affect serum levels of FPG, lipid profile, and nitric oxide which propounds cardiovascular consequences per se. The aim of this study was to determine the possible effects of sHT on nitrite/nitrate levels, as a marker of endothelial performance. MATERIALS AND METHODS 50 females were enrolled in this study, 25 women as control group and 25 women as case group (evaluated two times: before and after levothyroxine therapy). Blood samples were collected and levels of FPG, lipid profile components, and nitric oxide were measured spectrophotometrically. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 18 software. RESULTS The levels of lipid profile (except for TG between before and after group, p < 0.05) and nitric oxide did not differ in groups while FPG was significantly higher in case groups in comparison to control group (p < 0.001). Nitric oxide had no correlations with any of variables except for LDL in after treatment group (p < 0.05 and r = 0.397). CONCLUSION Nitric oxide does not have correlation with components of lipid profile (except for LDL) or FPG and has no differences in subclinical hypothyroid patients and control group. Levothyroxine therapy during 2 months cannot alter the levels of nitric oxide in subclinical hypothyroid patients.

Abstract
The thyroid hormones (THs) 3,3′,5,5′-tetraiodo-l-thyronine (T4) and 3,5,3′-triiodo-l-thyronine (T3) influence many metabolic pathways. The major physiological function of THs is to sustain basal energy expenditure, by acting primarily on carbohydrate and lipid catabolism. Beyond the mobilization and degradation of lipids, at the hepatic level THs stimulate the de novo fatty acid synthesis (de novo lipogenesis, DNL), through both the modulation of gene expression and the rapid activation of cell signalling pathways. 3,5-Diiodo-l-thyronine (T2), previously considered only a T3 catabolite, has been shown to mimic some of T3 effects on lipid catabolism. However, T2 action is more rapid than that of T3, and seems to be independent of protein synthesis. An inhibitory effect on DNL has been documented for T2. Here, we give an overview of the mechanisms of THs action on liver fatty acid metabolism, focusing on the different effects exerted by T2 and T3 on the regulation of the DNL. The inhibitory action on DNL exerted by T2 makes this compound a potential and attractive drug for the treatment of some metabolic diseases and cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) is encountered in 10-25% of women with PCOS. To date, it remains unclear whether this coexistence influences the severity of metabolic and hormonal profile of these patients. The purpose of our systematic review is to investigate this potential relation. METHODS We systematically searched Medline, Scopus, ClinicalTrials.gov, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) and Google Scholar databases together with reference lists from included studies. All prospective and retrospective observational cohort studies that investigated the impact of subclinical hypothyroidism on hormonal and metabolic parameters of PCOS patients were included. The methodological quality of studies was assessed with the Ottawa-Newcastle criteria. Statistical meta-analysis was performed with the RevMan 5.3 software. RESULTS Twelve studies were finally included in the present review, which enrolled 2341 PCOS patients. Among them, 577 had subclinical hypothyroidism, whereas the remaining 2077 were PCOS women with normal thyroid function. The presence of SCH significantly affected HDL (MD -3.92 mg/dL 95% CI: -6.56, -1.29) and triglycerides levels (26.91 mg/dL 95% CI: -3.79, 50.02). HOMA-IR was also affected (MD 0.82 95% CI: 0.15, 1.50). On the other hand, LDL, fasting glucose and 2-h OGTT were not influenced. Similarly, prolactin, FSH, LH, LH/FSH ratio and sex hormone-binding globulin remained unaffected. CONCLUSION Subclinical hypothyroidism does not influence the hormonal profile of women with PCOS. On the other hand, it results in mild metabolic abnormalities, which are not clinically important in a short-term setting.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Population-based studies investigating the sex-specific association between thyrotropin (TSH) levels and serum lipid concentrations are scarce. We examined the association between TSH and total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, and triglycerides in men and women from the general population. Furthermore, the association with TSH outside and within the reference range and lipid levels was studied. METHODS Individual data of 13,571 men and women without lipid medication of four population-based studies conducted in Western European adults were pooled for cross-sectional analyses. The association between TSH levels and lipid concentrations were analyzed by calculating sex-specific multivariable median regression models. RESULTS In the pooled population, serum TSH levels were significantly positively associated with triglyceride values in men and with total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride values in women. In the pooled male population, low serum TSH levels (<3.0 mIU/L) were significantly associated with lower total cholesterol, while high serum TSH levels (≥ 3.0 mIU/L) were associated with higher triglyceride values. In the pooled female population, low serum TSH levels were significantly associated with lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol. High TSH levels were associated with higher total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in the pooled female population. In both sexes, serum TSH levels within the reference range (0.3-3.0 mIU/L) were significantly positively associated with triglyceride concentrations. CONCLUSIONS Increasing levels of TSH were associated with a less favorable lipid profile in both men and women from the general population. In both sexes, TSH levels within the reference range were significantly positively associated with triglyceride concentrations.

Abstract
Thyroid hormones play a critical role in the growth of many organs, especially the brain. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) interact with the thyroid pathway and may disturb neurodevelopment. This prospective study was designed to examine associations between maternal blood PBDEs and PCBs in early pregnancy and levels of thyroid hormones in maternal and umbilical-cord blood. Levels of low-brominated PBDEs, 3 PCB congeners, total and free thyroid hormones (triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4)), thyroid-stimulating hormone, thyroid peroxidase antibodies, iodine, selenium, and mercury were measured in 380 pregnant women in the first trimester who were recruited at the University Hospital Center of Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada) between September 2007 and December 2008. Thyroid hormone levels were also assessed at delivery and in cord blood (n = 260). Data were analyzed on both a volume basis and a lipid basis. At less than 20 weeks of pregnancy, no relationship was statistically significant in volume-based analysis. In lipid-based models, an inverse association between maternal PBDEs and total T3 and total T4 and a direct association with free T3 and free T4 were observed. At delivery, in both analyses, we observed negative associations between maternal total T4, free T3, cord-blood free T4, and PBDEs and between maternal free T3 and PCBs. Our results suggest that exposure to PBDEs and PCBs in pregnancy may interfere with thyroid hormone levels.

Abstract
Thyroid hormones are important modulators of lipid metabolism because the liver is a primary hormonal target. The hypolipidaemic effects of thyroid hormones result from the balance between direct and indirect actions resulting in stimulation of lipid synthesis and lipid oxidation, which favours degradation pathways. Originally, it was believed that thyroid hormone activity was only transduced by alteration of gene transcription mediated by the nuclear receptor thyroid hormone receptors, comprising the classic action of thyroid hormone. However, the discovery of other effects independent of this classic mechanism characterised a new model of thyroid hormone action, the non-classic mechanism that involves other signalling pathways. To date, this mechanism and its relevance have been intensively described. Considering the increasing evidence for non-classic signalling of thyroid hormones and the major influence of these hormones in the regulation of lipid metabolism, we reviewed the role of thyroid hormone in cytosolic signalling cascades, focusing on the regulation of second messengers, and the activity of effector proteins and the implication of these mechanisms on the control of hepatic lipid metabolism.

Abstract
Objective. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the oxidative stress biomarkers in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism (n = 20) and health controls (n = 20). Subjects and Methods. Total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TGs), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARSs), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and arylesterase (ARE) were analyzed. Results. TC, LDL-C, TBARS, and CAT were higher in subclinical hypothyroidism patients, whereas SOD did not change. Arylesterase activity was significantly lower in the SH group, compared with the control group. Correlation analyses revealed the association of lipids (TC and LDL-C) with both oxidative stress biomarkers and thyrotropin (TSH). Thyroid hormones were correlated only with triglyceride levels. In addition, TSH was significantly correlated with TBARS, CAT, and SOD. However, no significant correlations were observed after controlling TC levels. Conclusions. We found that SH patients are under increased oxidative stress manifested by reduced ARE activity and elevated lipoperoxidation and CAT activity. Secondary hypercholesterolemia to thyroid dysfunction and not hypothyroidism per se appears to be associated with oxidative stress in subclinical hypothyroidism.

Abstract
Thyroid dysfunction has a great impact on lipids as well as a number of other cardiovascular risk factors. Hypothyroidism is relatively common and is associated with an unfavorable effect on lipids. Substitution therapy is beneficial for patients with overt hypothyroidism, improving lipid profile. However, whether subclinical hypothyroidism should be treated or not is a matter of debate. On the other hand, hyperthyroidism can be associated with acquired hypocholesterolemia or unexplained improvement of lipid profile. Overall, thyroid dysfunction should be taken into account when evaluating and treating dyslipidemic patients.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of dysthyroidism on lipid peroxidation, antioxidants status, liver, and serum dysfunction parameters in the hypo-/hyperthyroidism-induced rats. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism conditions were induced for 5 weeks by administration of 0.05% benzythiouracile (BTU) and l-thyroxine sodium salt (0.0012%), in drinking water, respectively. The enzymatic activities of glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and the lipid peroxidation product; thiobarbituric acid reacting substances (TBARS) were measured in liver as indicators of oxidative damage. However, liver dysfunction parameters represented by the activities of aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT), were measured in serum. In hyperthyroidism rats, the TBARS contents of liver have significantly increased compared to those in hypothyroid rats and the controls (p<0.001), associated with a fall of the total antioxidant status (TAS) in the serum of the hyperthyroid rats. The SOD, CAT, and GPx activities in liver of hyperthyroid rats have significantly increased compared to hypothyroid rats and the controls (p<0.001). The AST, ALT, LDH, GGT, and ALP activities increased in the hyperthyroidism rats (p<0.05). We conclude that thyroid dysfunction induces oxidative stress and modifies some biochemical parameters of liver. Our results show the occurrence of a state of oxidizing stress in relation to hyperthyroidism.

Abstract
Environmental chemicals can disrupt endocrine balance and in particular thyroid hormone (TH) homeostasis. However, studies differ with respect to thyroid profile changes and gender differences are rarely examined. This study investigated the THs, triodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), in relation to serum organochlorines (OCs), bioindicators of mercury (Hg) and blood lead (Pb) in 211 freshwater fish consumers (124 men and 87 women) from two communities in Canada. Thyroid hormones were within the normal range and the bioindicators of exposure were low compared to other reports on fish consumers. Stratified analysis showed that for women, serum T3 concentrations were negatively related to serum concentrations of PCB 138, PCB 153, the non-coplanar congeners, Arochlor 1260, and SigmaPCB, as well as p,p'-DDE. No relations were observed between T4 and any of the chemicals measured, but TSH was negatively related to blood Pb. For men, serum T4 was inversely related to PCB 138, non-ortho-substituted (dioxin-like) PCBs and SigmaPCB. A significant positive relationship was observed between serum TSH and different PCB congeners (PCB 138, PCB 180, non-coplanar congeners, mono-ortho coplanar congeners, dioxin-like PCBs), as well as SigmaPCB. Serum TSH increased with hair and blood Hg concentrations and was highest among those in the highest 50th percentile for both Hg and dioxin-like PCB congeners compared to the others. No associations were observed for T3 in men. These findings suggest that even at low concentrations, these environmental contaminants can interfere with thyroid status and effects may differ by gender.

Abstract
Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a associação entre hiperlipidemia e dieta de nipo-brasileiros de Bauru, município do Estado de São Paulo. Foram obtidos de 1.330 indivíduos dados mediante questionários previamente testados (dados demográficos e dietéticos). Os exames físicos e laboratoriais incluíram a coleta (ou dosagem) antropométrica, de pressão arterial, de glicemia de jejum e de 2 horas, de perfil lipídico e de TSH e T4 livre. Utilizaram-se teste qui-quadrado e medida de odds ratio para avaliar associação entre as variáveis estudadas e presença de hiperlipidemia. Foi encontrado 81,5% de hiperlipidêmicos e acometeu, principalmente, indivíduos tabagistas, com excesso de peso, hipotireoidismo, hipertensão arterial e intolerância a glicose. Observaram-se, mediante análise bruta, relações entre hiperlipidemia e ácido graxo saturado, ácido oléico e fibras de grãos e cereais. Após o ajuste para as variáveis de controle, observaram-se associações entre hiperlipidemia e consumo de lípides (totais, ácido oléico, saturados e trans), fibras e álcool. Conclui-se que mudanças no estilo de vida, particularmente no hábito alimentar, podem levar a uma melhora do quadro hiperlipidêmico e que o consumo de lípides pode ser um dos principais fatores para o aumento da hiperlipidemia. Estudos prospectivos auxiliarão para testar essas hipóteses nos nipo-brasileiros de Bauru.

Abstract
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), chlorinated pesticides, and mercury are global environmental contaminants that can disrupt the endocrine system in animals and humans. However, there is little evidence that they can interfere with endocrine status in pregnant women and neonates at low levels of exposure. The aim of this study was to examine thyroid hormone levels during pregnancy and in cord blood in relation to blood concentrations of organochlorine compounds (OCs) and Hg in healthy women recruited during pregnancy. We found a significant negative correlation between maternal total triiodothyronine levels and three non-coplanar congeners (PCB-138, PCB-153, and PCB-180), three pesticides (p,p -DDE, cis-nanochlor, and hexachlorobenzene), and inorganic Hg independently, without any other changes in thyroid status. No significant relationships were observed between OCs and cord serum thyroid hormones. Cord serum free thyroxin was negatively correlated with inorganic Hg. These results suggest that at even low levels of exposure, persistent environmental contaminants can interfere with thyroid status during pregnancy.
