Abstract
Albumin is the most abundant protein in human serum and a specific amount of albumin also can be found in the saliva. It has several physiological functions such as blood colloidal osmotic pressure, antioxidant activity, binding and transporting of endogenous and exogenous substrates. We conducted an electronic search across several databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, Embase and Science Direct using the relevant MeSH terms and keywords like "albumin", "serum albumin", "salivary albumin", "oral health" "dental caries" and "epidemiology". Only the epidemiological studies published between 2010 and 2023 were included. After the application of the inclusion criteria, a total of 51 studied were included in this narrative review. Serum and salivary albumin tests have been used in various aspects of oral health as a diagnostic and prognostic factor. Some of the results point out to a pattern of association while some of them are inconclusive and even contradictory. This narrative review discusses the role, significance and impact of albumin in epidemiological oral health related studies including the categories of periodontal health and disease, dental caries, oral function and hypofunction, nutrition and malnutrition, tooth loss and its treatment, diabetes and cancer. In addition, it offers a short manual for the researchers on when, where and how to use albumin tests in planning their study designs whether investigating an association or measure them as a covariate.

Abstract
PURPOSE Digitalization is assuming increasing significance in dental education, as dental students are increasingly exposed to digital implant planning and contemporary technologies such as 3D printing. In this study, we present a cohort analysis aimed at assessing the potential benefits derived from the utilization of 3D prints to seamlessly translate planned procedures into real-life applications. METHODS 21 dental students participated in a virtual planning and hands-on course across two cohorts (C1: n = 10, C2: n = 11). The virtual implant planning phase involved the placement of four implants on an atrophic lower jaw model. Subsequently, Cohort 1 (C1) executed the implantation procedure on a prefabricated hands-on model, while Cohort 2 (C2) engaged with 3D prints representing their individual implant planning during the hands-on session. Subjective assessments of knowledge, skills, and the perceived utility of 3D prints were conducted through pre- and post-course questionnaires, utilizing a 5-point scale. RESULTS In the subjective evaluation, 17 out of 21 participants expressed a positive appraisal of the use of personalized models. Notably, there was no statistically significant improvement in overall knowledge scores; however, there was a discernible increase of 0.5 points in the ratings related to perceived expertise and procedural abilities. CONCLUSION While there was a notable increase in the subjective ratings of knowledge and abilities, no statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups. The consensus among dental students is that individually planned and printed implant models serve as a valuable and effective tool in hands-on courses.

Abstract
Biomedical implants are crucial in providing support and functionality to patients with missing or defective body parts. However, implants carry an inherent risk of bacterial infections that are biofilm-associated and lead to significant complications. These infections often result in implant failure, requiring replacement by surgical restoration. Given these complications, it is crucial to study the biofilm formation mechanism on various biomedical implants that will help prevent implant failures. Therefore, this comprehensive review explores various types of implants (e.g., dental implant, orthopedic implant, tracheal stent, breast implant, central venous catheter, cochlear implant, urinary catheter, intraocular lens, and heart valve) and medical devices (hemodialyzer and pacemaker) in use. In addition, the mechanism of biofilm formation on those implants, and their pathogenesis were discussed. Furthermore, this article critically reviews various approaches in combating implant-associated infections, with a special emphasis on novel non-antibiotic alternatives to mitigate biofilm infections.

Abstract
Natural macromolecules like alginate and gelatin are employed to create medication delivery systems that are both safe and effective. Zirconium nanoparticles (ZrO2 NPs) have been proposed as a means of enhancing the alginate-gelatin hydrogel's physical and biological properties. This study combines the synthesis of the biopolymers gelatin and alginate nanofibers with nanoparticles of zirconium oxide (GA/NF- ZrO2 NPs). UV, XRD, FTIR, and SEM were used to characterize the synthesized nanofibers. The expression of osteogenic genes was analyzed by western blotting and qualitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Based on our findings, MC3T3-E1 cells are performed for cell viability, apoptosis and reactive oxygen species production by GA/NF- ZrO2 NPs through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Cell migration was accelerated at 75 μg/mL concentration after 24 h of damage in a scratch wound healing assay. Proliferation of the MC3T3-E1 cell line was also detected. GA/NF-ZrO2 NPs influenced the osteogenic variation of MC3T3-E1 cells by inducing autophagy. Furthermore, the impact of obstruction on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a subject of ongoing discussion and analysis within the context of animal models. Coordinated GA/NF-ZrO2 NPs on biomaterial nanofibers could be used to introduce physical signals for modifying MC3T3-E1 responds for orthodontic engineering constructs.

Abstract
Objective Accurate and prompt detection of cracked teeth plays a critical role for human oral health. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the performance of a tooth crack segmentation model (namely, FDB-DeepLabv3+) on optical microscopic images. Method The FDB-DeepLabv3+ model proposed here improves feature learning by replacing the backbone with ResNet50. Feature pyramid network (FPN) is introduced to fuse muti-level features. Densely linked atrous spatial pyramid pooling (Dense ASPP) is applied to achieve denser pixel sampling and wider receptive field. Bottleneck attention module (BAM) is embedded to enhance local feature extraction. Results Through testing on a self-made hidden cracked tooth dataset, the proposed method outperforms four classical networks (FCN, U-Net, SegNet, DeepLabv3+) on segmentation results in terms of mean pixel accuracy (MPA) and mean intersection over union (MIoU). The network achieves an increase of 11.41% in MPA and 12.14% in MIoU compared to DeepLabv3+. Ablation experiments shows that all the modifications are beneficial. Conclusion An improved network is designed for segmenting tooth surface cracks with good overall performance and robustness, which may hold significant potential in computer-aided diagnosis of cracked teeth.

Abstract
Purpose of Review Dental caries or tooth decay is one of the communal problems in the world which can affect not only the oral health but also the general health conditions. The main objective of this systematic review is to explore the efficacy of bioactive glass-based toothpastes against cariogenic bacteria. Recent Findings Bioactive glass particulates containing toothpaste show better remineralization potential on demineralized enamel and dentin when compared with toothpaste containing various bioactive constituents such as fluoride and potassium chloride. These constituents in conventional toothpaste can rapidly streak off due to acidic impact in the oral environment as the bioactive glass provides minerals for demineralized enamel and dentin by forming a strong hydroxyapatite (HAp) layer on its surface. Further, the therapeutic ions present in the bioglass can resist plaque formation by raising the pH of the surrounding environment or saliva and create amicable media for healthier teeth. Summary Toothpaste containing bioactive glass particles undoubtedly displayed the remineralizing potentiality of the dental hard tissues. Dynamics of the mineralization through different bioactive glass materials needs further investigations. In order to prevent dental cavities and improve oral health, it is important to identify and study different effective bioglass particles in toothpaste.

Abstract
This narrative review aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of minimal invasive dentistry (MID) by synthesizing relevant articles obtained from various sources, including electronic databases such as PubMed, SCOPUS, EMBASE, the COCHRANE library, and Science Direct, as well as through manual searches of cross-references and textbooks. The search employed MeSH terms and keywords related to MID, such as "minimally invasive dentistry," "atraumatic restorative treatment (ART)," "MID," and "minimum intervention dentistry." The inclusion criterion was English-language articles published between the years 2000 and June 2023 that aligned with the study objectives. After a thorough assessment of the included articles, 34 high-quality articles were selected for this review. The selected articles elucidate the characteristics of MID, the application of the ART, and the principles of minimum intervention in dentistry. Animal-based studies and narrative reviews on MID were excluded from the analysis. This narrative review serves as a valuable resource for dental professionals, researchers, and educators interested in staying abreast of the latest developments and evidence in the field of MID.

Abstract
Background Inequality in the use of dental services is a primary concern of global health, and few studies have been done in this field in Iran. Therefore, the present study aimed to conduct a decomposition analysis of socioeconomic inequalities in the utilization of oral health services. Methods This was a cross-sectional study in which 715 households, including 2680 people living in Ahvaz, were included using a stratified-cluster sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire. For data analysis and estimating the elasticity of the influencing factors, the logistic model and Stata software were used. The social and economic disparities in oral health variables were broken down into determinant components using the Van Doorslaer and Wagstaff technique. Results The key factors determining social and economic inequalities in the utilization of these services were insurance status, education level, income quintile, and occupation. Nearly 31% of utilization inequalities can be attributed to the insurance status of households. In addition, the education level of household members (about 28%) was the second factor of inequality. The variables of income quintile and occupation are also considered as the third factor, and the age of household members had a negative role in the socioeconomic inequality. Conclusion The utilization of oral health services can be improved by improving economic and social variables in society. Therefore, including oral health services in insurance plans and primary health care services and supporting people with low-income levels can play an important role in reducing these inequalities.

Abstract
Introduction Microbial agents play a crucial role in periapical lesions and despite mechanical preparation, presence of persistent bacteria in root canal system is a challenge. Photodynamic therapy offers a debridement method, utilizing photosensitizers such as Curcumin, Indocyanine Green (ICG), and Methylene Blue (MB). This study aimed to assess and compare the penetration depth of these photosensitizers on the lateral surface of the root canal. Materials and Methods The crown of 30 single-rooted teeth were separated by a diamond disc. The canals were prepared using a rotary system and were rinsed with 10 mL of 2.5% NaOCl. In order to remove the smear layer debris, 17% EDTA was placed in the root canal for 1 min, then rinsed with NaOCl and saline. The teeth were sterilized by autoclave and randomly assigned to three groups that filled with curcumin, ICG, or MB. Subsequently, they were incubated for 10 min and dried up by paper. Longitudinal sections were cut, and penetration depth of the photosensitizers in coronal, middle, and apical sections were measured using a stereomicroscope. Results Curcumin demonstrated a higher average penetration depth (3000 µm) than MB, and MB showed higher penetration depth than ICG. Significantly different penetration depths were observed in pairwise comparisons among all three groups (P<0.005). Conclusion Curcumin with its superior average penetration depth, emerges as a promising choice for effective root canal disinfection in endodontic treatments. Consideration of these findings may enhance the selection of photosensitizers in clinical applications.

Abstract
Background The relationship between SRH and mental health among men is not well documented, especially in the 10-24 age group. This scoping review aimed to investigate what is known about the association between SRH and mental health among young men (10-24) in LMICs. Methods Embase, APA PsycInfo, MEDLINE(R) ALL, ASSIA and the Cochrane Library of Database of Systematic Reviews were searched from the year of establishment up to August 2022. The review was reported using the PRISMA-ScR checklist. Results A total of (n = 2636) studies were identified from the five databases. After the completion of screening, only ten studies (n = 8 cross-sectional, n = 1 mixed methods and n = 1 qualitative) met the eligibility criteria and were included in the review. The findings suggest that there is a reciprocal relationship between mental health and SRH. Sperm concentration and total sperm count were found to be lower in depressed men. Poor mental health was associated with early sexual debut, higher rates of sexual activity and an increased number of sexual partners. Poor mental health was also found among men who had sex with men (MSM). In addition, we found a relationship between sexual abuse, sexual coercion and poor mental health. Conclusion The findings of this unique study indicate that poor mental health is associated with poor SRH outcomes and vice versa among young men (10-24) living in LMICs. However, further research will be needed to establish the temporal relationship between SRH and mental health outcomes.

Abstract
STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) agonists have emerged as promising agents in the field of cancer immunotherapy, owing to their excellent capacity to activate the innate immune response and combat tumor-induced immunosuppression. This review provides a comprehensive exploration of the strategies employed to develop effective formulations for STING agonists, with particular emphasis on versatile nano-delivery systems. The recent advancements in delivery systems based on lipids, natural/synthetic polymers, and proteins for STING agonists are summarized. The preparation methodologies of nanoprecipitation, self-assembly, and hydrogel, along with their advantages and disadvantages, are also discussed. Furthermore, the challenges and opportunities in developing next-generation STING agonist delivery systems are elaborated. This review aims to serve as a reference for researchers in designing novel and effective STING agonist delivery systems for cancer immunotherapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Knowledge about the anatomy and morphology of the root canal system is essential for successful surgical and non-surgical root canal treatments. However, precise assessment of the root morphology and anatomy is not often possible on two-dimensional radiographs. This study aimed to investigate the association of root morphology of mandibular second molars on panoramic-like and axial views of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). METHODS This cross-sectional study evaluated 1,231 CBCT scans of mandibular second molars obtained between October 2018 and February 2022 that were retrieved from the archives of a private radiology clinic. Panoramic-like images were reconstructed from the CBCT scans. The root morphology of mandibular second molars was classified on panoramic-like images as type 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. The root pattern on axial CBCT images was classified into three types of single, double and C-shaped. The association of root morphology on panoramic-like and axial CBCT views was analyzed by the Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test at 0.05 level of significance. RESULTS Of all, 62.7% of mandibular second molars were type 1; out of which, 97.3% had a double-root pattern on axial CBCT images. Also, 28.6% of them were type 2; of which, 92.6% had a double-root pattern. Moreover, 3.9% were type 3; of which, 47.9% had a C-shaped pattern; 0.9% were type 4, and 45.5% of them showed a single-root pattern; 3.8% were type 5 with 76.6% of them showing a single-root pattern. The prevalence of C-shaped canals was higher in females, and most C-shaped canals had a C3 pattern. CONCLUSION Root morphology on panoramic-like CBCT views had a strong association with the root canal pattern on axial CBCT views. According to the results, mandibular second molars with a type 3 morphology on panoramic-like CBCT images are highly probable to have a C-shaped canal.

Abstract
PURPOSE This review aimed to reveal the influence of implant guides on surgical accuracy with regard to supporting types, manufacturing methods and design (including fixation screws and sleeves). METHODS A literature search related to accuracy of surgical guides for dental implantation was performed in Web of Science and PubMed. Studies with in vivo or in vitro deviation data published in recent 5 years (2018-2022) were included and assessed by Newcastle-Ottawa Scale with regard to risk of bias and reliability degree of clinical studies. Accuracy-related deviation data were summarized as forest plots and normal distributions. RESULTS Forty-one articles were included with high degree of credibility. Data showed that implant surgery accuracy can be achieved with mean distance deviation < 2 mm (most < 1 mm) and angular deviation < 8° (most < 5°). CONCLUSIONS Bilateral tooth-supported guides exhibited highest in vitro accuracy and similar in vivo accuracy to unilateral tooth-supported guides; mucosa-supported guides exhibit lowest in vivo accuracy, while its in vitro data showed low credibility due to mechanical complexity of living mucosa tissue. Milling exhibited higher in vivo accuracy of guides than 3d-printing, though further data support was needed. Design of fixation screws and sleeves of implant guides affected the surgical accuracy and might remain a research focus in near future. However, lack of universal evaluation standards for implantation accuracy remained a major problem in this field. The influence of implant guides on surgical accuracy revealed in this review might shed light on future development of dental implantology.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM The accuracy of printed implant surgical guides can be affected by different factors that negatively impact the planned implant position. How print orientation, storage time, and conditions influence manufacturing accuracy remains uncertain. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of print orientation, storage conditions, and storage time on the intaglio surface accuracy of implant surgical guides manufactured by using a stereolithography (SLA) printer. MATERIAL AND METHODS A tooth-supported maxillary implant surgical guide design (control file) was used to fabricate the specimens (N=40, n=10). Four groups were created based on the print orientation used: 0 (Group 0), 45 (Group 45), 70 (Group 70), and 90 degrees (Group 90). The specimens were fabricated using an SLA printer (Form 3B+) and a biocompatible dental resin (Surgical Guide Resin V1) following the manufacturer's recommended protocol. Each group was divided into 2 subgroups based on the storage conditions: light (L subgroup) and dark (D subgroup) settings. Each specimen was digitized by using a desktop scanner (Medit T710) at days 0, 1, 7, and 14. The control file and each digitized specimen were superimposed by using the best-fit technique with a metrology program (Geomagic Control X). The root mean square (RMS) error was used to calculate the discrepancies between the control files and specimen files. Three-way ANOVA and pairwise comparison Tukey tests were used to analyze trueness. The Levene test was used to assess precision (α=.05). RESULTS Significant trueness discrepancies were found among the groups tested (P<.001), but no significant differences were found among the subgroups (P=.100) and the storage times analyzed (P=.609). Additionally, the Tukey test showed significant RMS error mean value discrepancies between Group 0 and Group 45 (P<.001), Group 0 and Group 90 (P<.001), Group 45 and Group 70 (P<.001), and Group 70 and Group 90 (P<.001). The Levene test revealed significant SD discrepancies among the groups tested (P<.05). CONCLUSIONS The trueness and precision of the intaglio surface of the implant surgical guides manufactured by using the printer and material tested were affected by the print orientation. However, storage conditions over a 14-day period did not impact the intaglio accuracy of the specimens.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Current study aimed to evaluate the effect of different decontamination procedures on micro-shear bond strength (μSBS) of sound (SoD) and caries-affected dentin (CAD) of two universal adhesives after blood-saliva contamination. METHODS One hundred and eighty bovine anterior teeth were prepared and allocated into the respective groups according to tested dentin substrates [SoD, CAD], universal adhesives [Clearfil Bond Universal Quick (UBQ), All-Bond-Universal (ABU)], adhesive contamination stage [none, contamination before and after adhesives light-curing], and according to decontamination procedures [no decontamination, water rinsing, adhesive rebond, Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (ETDA) and chlorhexidine (CHX) application]. Universal adhesives were applied according to manufacturer instructions in self-etch (SE) bonding mode. Four composite microrods were built for each tooth. Specimens were kept in distilled water for 24 hours at 37°C before testing μSBS. Four-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests were used for data analysis. RESULTS A statistically significant difference between contamination stages of both universal adhesives at different decontamination procedures for SoD and CAD. Highest μSBS was recorded for UBQ control group at SoD, while the least was recorded for light-cured ABU upon water rinsing decontamination procedure of CAD. CONCLUSIONS Proper cavity isolation is mandatory to avoid possible contamination which can dramatically affect μSBS. CHX is a potent cavity decontaminant that can restore different dentin substrates bond strength. EDTA presents a promising substitute. UBQ adhesive showed better bonding performance than ABU to both dentin substrates. Application of regular cavity decontamination approaches is highly advised in daily practice to avoid possible detrimental effect of accidental cavity contamination.

Abstract
Background The application of forces during orthodontic treatment can induce pulpal calcifications, characterized by the deposition of mineralized tissue in the pulp cavity space, there may be repercussions on dental procedures, especially endodontic treatment. The objective of this article is to map the scientific evidence and any gaps in knowledge regarding the relationship between orthodontics and dental pulp calcifications. Material and Methods The study comprised a scoping review whose guiding question was: "What is the scientific evidence of the association between pulpal calcifications and orthodontic treatment?" Two independent reviewers searched the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases and the grey literature. Original articles and observational and clinical trials, which addressed the repercussions on the pulp cavity of teeth submitted to orthodontic treatment, were included. There was no language restriction or limitation of the year of publication until October 2022. Results After critical reading and applying the eligibility criteria, 11 studies were included in this scoping review: six observational and five experimental studies. A statistically significant association of orthodontic treatment with changes in pulp cavity volume and increased incidence of pulp stones was observed among the studies findings. Conclusions The orthodontic force can promote changes in the dental pulp that may cause direct implications in other dental treatments, especially endodontic treatment. Abstract
Statement of the Problem It is important to use orthodontic composites with favorable properties, which are easily removed after the end of the treatment but not easily debonded during treatment. Nanoparticles have drawn attention for their antibacterial properties when added to composite resins. However, the effect of addition of nanoparticle on shear bond strength is not broadly discussed. Purpose The present study was designed to compare the shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets bonded by orthodontic composite containing silver nanoparticles with orthodontic composite containing amorphous tricalcium phosphate nanoparticles. Materials and Method In this ex vivo study, 36 sound extracted human premolars were used and randomly divided into three groups. The brackets were bonded in the first group by composite without nanoparticles, in the second group by composite containing 3% amorphous tricalcium phosphate nanoparticles and in the third group by composite containing 0.3% silver nanoparticles at the buccal surface of the teeth. The shear bond strengths of the samples were measured 24 hours after preparation by a universal testing machine. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21 software through one-way ANOVA and Tamhane's T2 multiple comparison tests. pValues under 0.05 were considered significant. Results There was no significant difference between the mean shear bond strength of composite containing amorphous tricalcium phosphate nanoparticles with composite without nanoparticles (p= 0.142). However, the mean shear bond strength in the composite containing silver nanoparticles was significantly lower than the other two groups (p< 0.001). Conclusion According to the results of this study, the addition of amorphous tricalcium phosphate nanoparticles to orthodontic composite does not significantly decrease the shear bond strength while silver nanoparticles reduce the shear bond strength of orthodontic composite.

Abstract
Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) has great potential in the early diagnosis of diseases by detecting the changes of volatile biomarkers in exhaled breath, because of its high sensitivity, rich chemical molecular fingerprint information, and immunity to humidity. Here, an accurate diagnosis of oral cancer (OC) is demonstrated using artificial intelligence (AI)-based SERS of exhaled breath in plasmonic-metal organic framework (MOF) nanoparticles. These plasmonic-MOF nanoparticles were prepared using a zeolitic imidazolate framework coated on Ag nanowires (Ag NWs@ZIF), which offers Raman enhancement from the plasmonic nanowires and gas enrichment from the ZIF shells. Then, the core-shell nanochains of Ag NWs@ZIF prepared with 0.5 mL Ag NWs were selected to capture gaseous methanethiol, which is a tumor biomarker, from the exhalation of OC patients. The substrate was used to collect a total of 400 SERS spectra of exhaled breath of simulated healthy people and simulated OC patients. The artificial neural network (ANN) model in the AI algorithm was trained with these SERS spectra and could classify them with an accuracy of 99%. Notably, the model predicted OC with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.996 for the simulated OC breath samples. This work suggests the great potential of the combination of breath analysis and AI as a method for the early-stage diagnosis of oral cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Surgical guides are frequently used for dental implant placement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the 3D printing process itself and subsequent steam autoclaving on the dimensional stability of five different resin/printer combinations (RPCs). MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty identical surgical guides (10 per group) were produced consisting of five RPCs. Half of the guides (5 per group) were steam autoclaved with cycle 1 (121°C, 1 bar, 20.5 min) and the other half with cycle 2 (134°C, 2 bar, 5.5 min). All guides were scanned with a structured-light (SL) 3D scanner before (T0) and after (T1) autoclaving. Linear measurements along the x-, y-, and z-axes were performed at landmarks on the original STL file and on SL scans at T0 and T1, respectively. Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and linear mixed-effects models were performed, depending on the analysis. RESULTS Three-dimensional printing was associated with significant dimensional alterations for all RPCs. Steam autoclaving using cycle 1 was associated with significant shrinkage in x- (1 RPC), y- (2 RPCs), and z-direction (2 RPCs), while cycle 2 was also associated with shrinkage in x- (2 RPCs), y- (1 RPC), and z-direction (1 RPC). One resin did not present any dimensional changes independently of the cycle. CONCLUSIONS The majority of the guides presented minor but significant shrinkage due to 3D printing itself and both steam autoclaving cycles, the extent varied between different RPCs. Whether these changes compromise implant placement accuracy remains to be investigated.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the capacity of an intra-oral scanner (IOS) to assess the position of an endodontic guide in vitro. METHODS Fourteen extracted human teeth were placed into a maxillary model and scanned using computed tomography and a reference laboratory scanner. An ideal endodontic guide was then created and modified by adding defects of different thicknesses to simulate incorrect positions: 50 μm, 150 μm, 400 μm, and 1000 μm. For each thickness, guides were printed three times and each guide was scanned by three experimented operators using a Trios 4 IOS (3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark). The 36 scans were compared using a best-fit alignment to the master model without defect to define the accuracy of the method and the positioning error. RESULTS The IOS presented a mean trueness of 1.28 μm (SD= 12.70) and a mean precision of 11.52 μm (SD= 62.17). Considering all sizes of defect, the mean measured position of the endodontic guide was highly correlated (R>0.99) with the expected position. Compared to the ideal guide, there was a mean linear deviation of 46.11 μm (SD= 23.21) and a mean angular deviation of 5.9° (SD= 1.2); this deviation was not influenced by the operator. CONCLUSION The present study found that an IOS had good performance to detect a positioning error of the endodontic guide in vitro. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE This new application of IOS has a promising potential in clinical practice to assist practitioners during the fitting of guides.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The accuracy of surgical guides is a relevant factor in both surgical safety and prosthetic implications. The impact of widespread fabrication technologies (milling and 3D printing) was investigated. METHODS Surgical guides manufactured by means of two specific milling and 3D-printing systems were digitized and compared in a 3D analysis with the digital file of the designed guides. The surface mean 3D distance (at the surface where the teeth and mucosa made contact) and the axial and linear deviations of the sleeves' housings were measured by means of a metrological software program. Univariate and multivariate statistical analyses were used to investigate the effects of the fabrication technology, type of support, and arch type on the surgical guides' accuracy. RESULTS The median deviations of the intaglio surface in contact with the mucosa were significantly (p < 0.001) lower for the milled surgical guides (0.05 mm) than for the 3D-printed guides (-0.07 mm), in comparison with the reference STL file. The generalized estimated equation models showed that the axial deviations of the sleeves' housings (a median of 0.82 degrees for the milling, and 1.37 degrees for the 3D printing) were significantly affected by the fabrication technology (p = 0.011) (the milling exhibited better results), the type of support (p < 0.001), and the combined effect of the fabrication technology and the sleeve-to-crest angle (p = 0.003). The linear deviation (medians of 0.12 mm for the milling and 0.21 mm for the 3D printing) of their center points was significantly affected by the type of support (p = 0.001), with the milling performing slightly better than the 3D printing. CONCLUSIONS The magnitude of the difference might account for a limited clinical significance.

Abstract
Background Periodontal inflammation are inflammation of supporting tissues of periodontium. The microbial factor can cause infection which is polymicrobial in origin and causes dysbiosis and shift in oxidative stress with compromised antioxidant capacity. This study focused at determination of the effect of nonsurgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) and vitamin C supplementation on total antioxidant capacity (TAOC) in chronic periodontitis patients (ChP). Material & method A total of 70 ChPand 35 periodontally healthy subjects (control) were recruited in this study. Further, ChP group was subdivided into ChP1 group (n = 35) which received NSPT only and ChP 2 group (n = 35) which received NSPT with vitamin C 500 mg once daily for 3 months. Serum and saliva samples were taken at baseline and at 3 months postNSPT for measurement of TAOC. Clinical parameters measured were measured at 1-, 3-, 6- and 12-month interval. Results Lower levels of serum and salivary TAOC levels were observed in ChP patients than healthy subjects (p < 0.05). Improvement in Clinical parameters was observed in both the groups ChP1 and ChP 2 group post therapy (p < 0.05). The periodontal treatment showed insignificant changes in serum and salivary TAOC levels (p > 0.05). The supplemental dose of vitamin C didn't have any additional benefits (p > 0.05). Conclusion There lies an association of oxidative stress with periodontitis, low serum and salivary TAOC levels were seen in chronic periodontitis patients. NSPT improved the periodontal inflammatory status. However, benefits of vitamin C as an adjunct to NSPT remains inconclusive and needs to be further explored by multicentre longitudinal studies.

Abstract
Objective Photon-induced photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) with pineapple peel extract (PPE) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) as a final endodontic irrigant on the push-out bond strength (PBS) of root filling material to conventional irrigation NaOCl with EDTA. Methods An in vitro study at Dar Al Uloom University was conducted over three months. Root canal preparation was performed. Based on final irrigation, all the specimens were divided randomly into four groups (n=10) Group 1: 2.25% NaOCl+ 17% EDTA (control), Group-2: 2.25% NaOCl+PIPS + 6.25% PPE, Group-3: 2.25% NaOCl+PIPS + 17% EDTA, Group-4: 2.25% NaOCl + 6.25% PPE. Canals were obturated and sealed with AH Plus sealer. Root sectioning was performed at 1mm thickness and PBS testing was performed using the universal testing machine. The debonded samples were analyzed for failure mode. ANOVA compared the means and standard deviations (SD) of all investigated group. Assessment of multiple comparisons was performed using Tukey's post hoc test. Results The maximum PBS was demonstrated by the coronal section of Group-2 (2.25%NaOCl +PIPS+6.25%PPE) specimens (8.21±0.81MPa). The apical section of Group-1 (2.25% NaOCl+17% EDTA) specimens demonstrated minimum bond strength (2.80±0.18 MPa). The intergroup comparison revealed that Group-3 (2.25% NaOCl +PIPS +17% EDTA) and Group-2 demonstrated comparable outcomes (p>0.05). Group-4 (2.25% NaOCl +6.25% PPE) specimens established significantly lower values than Group-3 and Group-4 (p<0.05). Conclusion Photon-induced photoacoustic streaming with pineapple peel extract and EDTA demonstrated better bond strength of root canal sealer and have the potential to be used as the final irrigant.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease of periodontal support tissue caused by microorganisms in dental plaque, which causes alveolar bone resorption and tooth loss. Periodontitis treatment goals include prevention of alveolar bone resorption and promotion of periodontal regeneration. We previously found that granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) was involved in periodontitis-related alveolar bone resorption through induction of an immune response and subsequent destruction of periodontal tissue. However, the mechanisms underlying the effects of G-CSF on abnormal bone remodeling have not yet been fully elucidated. Human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) are major modulators of osteogenic differentiation in periodontal tissues. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigated whether G-CSF acts effects on hPDLSC proliferation and osteogenic differentiation, as well as periodontal tissue repair. METHODS hPDLSCs were cultured and identified by short tandem repeat analysis. The expression patterns and locations of G-CSF receptor (G-CSFR) on hPDLSCs were detected by immunofluorescence analysis. The effects of G-CSF on hPDLSCs in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory microenvironment were investigated. Specifically, Cell-Counting Kit 8 (CCK8) and Alizarin red staining were used to examine hPDLSC proliferation and osteogenic differentiation; reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was performed to detect the expression patterns of osteogenesis-related genes (alkaline phosphatase [ALP], runt-related transcription factor 2 [Runx2], and osteocalcin [OCN]) in hPDLSCs; and Western blotting was used to detect the expression patterns of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and protein kinase B (Akt) of PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. RESULTS hPDLSCs exhibited a typical spindle-shaped morphology and good clonogenic ability. G-CSFR was mostly localized on the cell surface membrane. Analyses showed that G-CSF inhibited hPDLSC proliferation. Also, in the LPS-induced inflammatory microenvironment, G-CSF inhibited hPDLSC osteogenic differentiation and reduced the expression levels of osteogenesis-related genes. G-CSF increased the protein expression levels of hPDLSC pathway components p-PI3K and p-Akt. CONCLUSIONS We found that G-CSFR was expressed on hPDLSCs. Furthermore, G-CSF inhibited hPDLSC osteogenic differentiation in vitro in the LPS-induced inflammatory microenvironment.

Abstract
Background Social media (SM) usage is on the rise among health professionals at all levels to align with the emerging digital and SM era. e-Professionalism is described as attitudes and actions that resemble traditional professionalism paradigms but are expressed through digital media. Although there are a number of studies conducted in the past several years measuring e-professionalism of medical and dental professionals, there is no validated scale to assess the level of e-professionalism among medical and dental professionals in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, this study aimed to assess attitudes toward e-professionalism among medical and dental professionals in Saudi Arabia using the SMePROF-S scale. Methods This cross-sectional study recruited 338 medical and dental students and practitioners from 20 cities in Saudi Arabia to complete an online SMePROF-S self-reported questionnaire measuring attitudes about e-professionalism. Results Among participants, 31.66% believed that it is acceptable to communicate with patients through SM, but only 16.86% agreed with communicating via personal SM account messaging. Many participants (35.80%-50%) fear that SM use can cause problems with getting hired, people making inaccurate assumptions and perceptions, and job losses. There were 31.36% who believed that sharing patient information without consent is acceptable. The majority (63.02%-63.31%) do not believe that medical/dental professionals should be barred from using SM, and 40.53% believe that schools/organizations have no right to interfere with their online activities. Only 22.19% believed that SM use removed professional protections from the public. A few statements were statistically different by specialty and gender. Conclusion There is a variability of attitudes about e-professionalism among medical and dental professionals in Saudi Arabia, with some alarming issues requiring national guidelines to ensure patient rights, privacy, and confidentiality.

Abstract
The ability to recognize the anatomical variations of the root canal system is crucial before starting endodontic treatment, no less important is being able to carry out these treatments based on current scientific evidence. The premolars are the dental pieces with the greatest complexity in their internal anatomy and the ones that appear in the highest percentage compared to other teeth, if a piece presents accessory anatomy, it is highly probable that the contralateral piece presents the same internal anatomy, to this it is known as symmetrical bilaterality, therefore the radiographic images must be executed with proximal and orthoradial projections in order to approximate the 3D shape that these anatomies present and minimize procedural errors. The use of magnification is essential to be able to address the entire root canal system and perform an adequate endodontic treatment. This case report presents the approach to 2 maxillary first premolars from the same patient with 3-canal anatomy, presenting bilateral symmetry.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This in vitro study aimed to assess the influence of the planning software and design of the surgical template on both trueness and precision of static computer assisted implant surgery (sCAIS) performed using surgical guides fabricated using material extrusion (ME). METHODS Three-dimensional radiographic and surface scans of a typodont were aligned using two planning software (coDiagnostiX, CDX; ImplantStudio, IST) to virtually position the two adjacent oral implants. Thereafter, surgical guides were created with either an original (O) or modified (M) design with reduced occlusal support and were steam sterilized. Forty surgical guides were used to instal 80 implants equally distributed among four groups: CDX-O, CDX-M, IST-O, and IST-M. Thereafter, the scan bodies were adapted to the implants and digitised. Finally, inspection software was used to assess discrepancies between the planned and final positions at the implant shoulder and main axis level. Multilevel mixed-effects generalised linear models were used for statistical analyses (p = 0.05). RESULTS In terms of trueness, the largest average vertical deviations (0.29 ± 0.07 mm) could be assessed for CDX-M. Overall, vertical errors were significantly dependent on the design (O < M; p ≤ 0.001). Furthermore, in horizontal direction, the largest mean discrepancy was 0.32 ± 0.09 mm (IST-O) and 0.31 ± 0.13 mm (CDX-M). CDX-O was superior compared to IST-O (p = 0.003) regarding horizontal trueness. The average deviations regarding the main implant axis ranged between 1.36 ± 0.41 ° (CDX-O) and 2.63 ± 0.87 ° (CDX-M). In terms of precision, mean standard deviation intervals of ≤ 0.12 mm (IST-O and -M) and ≤ 1.09 ° (CDX-M) were calculated. CONCLUSIONS Implant installation with clinically acceptable deviations is possible with ME surgical guides. Both evaluated variables affected trueness and precision with negligible differences. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE The planning system and design influenced the accuracy of implant installation using ME-based surgical guides. Nevertheless, discrepancies were ≤ 0.32 mm and ≤ 2.63 °, which may be considered within the range of clinical acceptance. ME should be further investigated as an alternative to the more expensive and time-consuming 3D printing technologies.

Influence of the Printing Orientation on Parallelism, Distance, and Wall Thickness of Adjacent Cylinders of 3D-Printed Surgical Guides. PROSTHESIS 2023. Abstract
This in-vitro study aimed to evaluate the influence of the printing orientation on parallelism, distance, and thickness between adjacent cylinders of 3D-printed surgical guides. CAD software was used to design a surgical guide with two adjacent parallel cylinders (reference); the design was saved as standard tessellation software (STL) and 63 samples were printed using three different orientations (0, 45, and 90 degrees). A metrology digital microscope was used to measure the distance, the angle and the thickness of the guides cylinders. Afterwards, the printed guides were scanned and cloud comparison software was used to compare STL files from the printed guides against the reference CAD model. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey test were used for multiple comparisons between groups and significance was p < 0.05. The printing orientation affected the distance between cylinders, the parallelism and the wall thickness. In addition, there were global deviations in all printing orientations. Printing with 90 degrees orientation produced almost-parallel cylinders but walls thicker than the reference model; all the cylinders converged toward the coronal but printing at 0 degrees produced the closest distance to the reference value. Within the limitations of this experimental in-vitro study it can be concluded that all the printing orientations influence the angle, the distance, and the thickness between adjacent cylinders of a surgical guide. Printing at 90 degrees produces the best global correspondence with the master model.

Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccination in controlling the infectivity and mortality of the SARS-CoV-2. Two major variants Delta and Omicron are investigated respectively. The main method used in the research is the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MF-DFA). We use Δ α as the evaluation of control effectiveness. In the transmission stages of Delta and Omicron, we observe whether Δ α shows a downward trend by gradually expanding the length of time series. Vaccine effectiveness is evaluated using a time series of newly diagnosed patients and newly reported deaths. Data samples are taken from 9 different countries. According to the obtained results, the vaccine controls infectivity and mortality of the virus in the Delta transmission stage, but infectivity control is less effective than mortality. In the Omicron transmission stage, the immune effect of the vaccine is not obvious, which may be related to the high infectivity of Omicron. However, the vaccine is still effective in controlling mortality. We also find that the immune effect of vaccine on Omicron was lower than that of Delta. Finally, we observe that the immune effect of the vaccine in 'Poland' was abnormal. By analyzing the vaccination curve, we conclude that in 'Poland', when the growth rate of vaccination rate slowed down, the immune effect of the vaccine was very poor in terms of pathogenicity and lethality. Therefore, we suggest that all countries should continue to strengthen the vaccination rate. A higher or faster growth rate of vaccination rate will help control the infectivity and mortality rate, especially in the effectiveness of controlling mortality. Our research can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of vaccines for epidemic prevention and control, the formulation of epidemic prevention measures and vaccination policies for different countries with respect to their current pandemic situation accordingly.

Abstract
Over the past 20 years, a variety of potential adjuvants have been studied to enhance the effect of oral vaccines in the intestinal mucosal immune system; however, no licensed adjuvant for clinical application in oral vaccines is available. In this review, we systematically updated the research progress of oral vaccine adjuvants over the past 2 decades, including biogenic adjuvants, non-biogenic adjuvants, and their multi-type composite adjuvant materials, and introduced their immune mechanisms of adjuvanticity, aiming at providing theoretical basis for developing feasible and effective adjuvants for oral vaccines. Based on these insights, we briefly discussed the challenges in the development of oral vaccine adjuvants and prospects for their future development.

Abstract
Revolutionary fabrication technologies such as three-dimensional (3D) printing to develop dental structures are expected to replace traditional methods due to their ability to establish constructs with the required mechanical properties and detailed structures. Three-dimensional printing, as an additive manufacturing approach, has the potential to rapidly fabricate complex dental prostheses by employing a bottom-up strategy in a layer-by-layer fashion. This new technology allows dentists to extend their degree of freedom in selecting, creating, and performing the required treatments. Three-dimensional printing has been narrowly employed in the fabrication of various kinds of prostheses and implants. There is still an on-demand production procedure that offers a reasonable method with superior efficiency to engineer multifaceted dental constructs. This review article aims to cover the most recent applications of 3D printing techniques in the manufacturing of dental prosthetics. More specifically, after describing various 3D printing techniques and their advantages/disadvantages, the applications of 3D printing in dental prostheses are elaborated in various examples in the literature. Different 3D printing techniques have the capability to use different materials, including thermoplastic polymers, ceramics, and metals with distinctive suitability for dental applications, which are discussed in this article. The relevant limitations and challenges that currently limit the efficacy of 3D printing in this field are also reviewed. This review article has employed five major scientific databases, including Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and Scopus, with appropriate keywords to find the most relevant literature in the subject of dental prostheses 3D printing.

Abstract
Additive manufacturing (AM) technologies can enable the direct fabrication of customized physical objects with complex shapes, based on computer-aided design models. This technology is changing the digital manufacturing industry and has become a subject of considerable interest in digital implant dentistry. Personalized dentistry implant treatments for individual patients can be achieved through Additive manufacturing. Herein, we review the applications of Additive manufacturing technologies in oral implantology, including implant surgery, and implant and restoration products, such as surgical guides for implantation, custom titanium meshes for bone augmentation, personalized or non-personalized dental implants, custom trays, implant casts, and implant-support frameworks, among others. In addition, this review also focuses on Additive manufacturing technologies commonly used in oral implantology. Stereolithography, digital light processing, and fused deposition modeling are often used to construct surgical guides and implant casts, whereas direct metal laser sintering, selective laser melting, and electron beam melting can be applied to fabricate dental implants, personalized titanium meshes, and denture frameworks. Moreover, it is sometimes required to combine Additive manufacturing technology with milling and other cutting and finishing techniques to ensure that the product is suitable for its final application.

Abstract
Introduction The purpose of this review is to investigate the contribution of non-surgical endodontic treatment in the healing process of large periapical lesions as well as looking over other potential non-surgical endodontic treatment options. Materials and Methods two females and one male patient were referred to the private office, complaining of having pain in the anterior maxillary region which was pertinent to the presence of a large periapical lesion, and subsequently were managed by a non-surgical endodontic approach using cold ceramic. The archive of PubMed and Google Scholar databases was also searched for finding relevant articles in which a nonsurgical endodontic approach was performed to improve the healing process of large periapical lesions. Results Clinical examination of the case series subjects revealed no signs and symptoms following treatment while relative improvement of the lesion and apical closure was apparent in radiographs 7 months, 9 months, and 4 years subsequently. In twenty-two reviewed clinical trials, a total number of 107 teeth with large periapical lesions were treated by nonsurgical endodontic approaches using MTA, biodentine, gutta-percha, and bioceramic iRoot Bp plus. Complete healing occurred in 38 cases (35.5%) after 12-17 months. Conclusions Although surgical interventions have been used previously in the management of large periapical lesions, a nonsurgical endodontic approach with cold ceramic seems to be effective, leading to complete healing of the periapical lesion in treated subjects. Further clinical research is recommended to identify the effectiveness of cold ceramic for the treatment of extensive periapical lesions.

Abstract
Introduction This study aimed to compare the accuracy and agreement between cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) in the assessment of canal transportation and centering ratio following root canal instrumentation with rotary files. Material and Methods Twenty mesiobuccal canals of mandibular molars were prepared using the 2Shape sequential rotary system. CBCT and micro-CT scans were performed before and after instrumentation, and the magnitude of transportation and centering ratio were measured. The acceptable transportation was set at ≤0.15 mm. The accuracy and agreement between CBCT and micro-CT were calculated, and the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) and kappa coefficient were determined to assess the agreement between the two modalities. Statistical analyses were performed using repeated measures ANOVA. Results Transportation was detected by both modalities at all distances from the apex after instrumentation. The agreement between CBCT and micro-CT in assessing canal transportation was observed in 80%, 85%, 75%, and 75% of specimens at 1-, 3-, 5-, and 7-mm from the apex, respectively. The ICC for transportation and centering ratio was much lower than 0.75, indicating poor agreement between the modalities. The kappa coefficient did not show acceptable agreement between the methods. Conclusions CBCT and micro-CT demonstrated poor agreement in assessing canal transportation and centering ratio. Micro-CT remains the preferred modality for in vitro investigations, while CBCT should be limited to clinical settings.

Abstract
PURPOSE Metal sleeves are commonly used in implant guides for guided surgery. Cost and sleeve specification limit the applications. This in vitro study examined the differences in the implant position deviations produced by a digitally designed surgical guide with no metal sleeve in comparison to a conventional one with a metal sleeve. MATERIALS AND METHODS The experiment was conducted in two steps for each step: n = 20 casts total, 10 casts each group; Step 1 to examine one guide from each group with ten implant placements in a dental cast, and Step 2 to examine one guide to one cast. Implant placement was performed using a guided surgical protocol. Postoperative cone-beam computed tomography images were made and were superimposed onto the treatment-planning images. The implant horizontal and angulation deviations from the planned position were measured and analyzed using t-test and F-test (p = 0.05). RESULTS For Step 1 and 2, respectively, implant deviations for the surgical guide with sleeve were -0.3 ±0.17 mm and 0.15 ±0.23 mm mesially, 0.60 ±1.69 mm, and -1.50 ±0.99 mm buccolingual at the apex, 0.20 ±0.47 mm and -0.60 ±0.27 mm buccolingual at the cervical, and 2.73° ±4.80° and -1.49° ±2.91° in the buccolingual angulation. For Step 1 and 2, respectively, the implant deviations for the surgical guide without sleeve were -0.17 ±0.14 mm and -0.06 ±0.07 mm mesially, 0.35 ±1.04 mm and -1.619 ±1.03 mm buccolingual at the apex, 0.10 ±0.27 mm and -0.62 ±0.27 mm buccolingual at the cervical, and 1.73° ±3.66° and -1.64° ±2.26° in the buccolingual angulation. No statistically significant differences were found in any group except for mesial deviation of the Step 2 group (F-test, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS A digitally designed surgical guide with no metal sleeve demonstrates similar accuracy but higher precision compared to a surgical guide with a metal sleeve. Metal sleeves may not be required for guided surgery.

Abstract
Several protocols have been used with computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacture (CAD-CAM) prostheses after image-guided implant surgery based on a prosthetically driven surgical plan. For delayed approaches, a CAD-CAM custom healing abutment can be manufactured before the surgery and installed immediately after implant placement. However, information on the use of emergence profile segmentation on which to base the digital design and on the use of low-cost 3-dimensional printers to produce custom healing abutments are lacking. The purpose of this article was to present a fully digital workflow to digitally design and 3-dimensionally print custom healing abutments with a biocompatible light-polymerizing resin based on the natural emergence profile of the tooth to be replaced.

Abstract
The CAD (Computer-aided design) and CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) have most applications in the manufacturing of fully automated, personalized dental devices and tailor-made treatment plans. 3D printing is one of the most rapidly expanding and new methods of manufacturing different things because of its on-demand and high productivity within the cost-effective manner which have a variety of applications in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, orthopaedics, engineered tissue models, medical devices, defence industries, automotive and aerospace sectors. Due to its emerging applications in the various sectors, the healthcare, Industries, and academic sectors are attracted towards the 3D printed materials. This review talks about the dental implants, polymers that are employed in concocting dental implants, critical parameters, and challenges which are to be considered while preparing these implants, advantages of 3D printing in the field of dentistry and the current trends. it discusses the variety of applications of 3D printed materials in the field of dentistry. Along with their method of fabrication, their critical process parameters (CPPs) are also discussed.

Abstract
The present study investigated the association between COVID-19 stresses and oral conditions including gingivitis, oral hygiene, oral ulcers, and dry mouth. This was a cross-sectional study that collected data from adults in community settings in Alexandria, Egypt, between October 2021, and February 2022. Gingival condition and oral hygiene were assessed using the gingival and plaque indices. Participants were asked if they experienced oral ulcers during the past week and dry mouth during the past year. COVID-19 fears and coping were assessed using the COVID Stress Scale (CSS), and the Brief Resilience Coping Scale (BRCS), respectively. Oral health behaviors were assessed using the World Health Organization questionnaire. Regression analyses were used to assess the association between the dependent variables (clinically assessed gingival and plaque indices, reported presence of oral ulcers, and dry mouth) and explanatory variables (CSS and BRCS) after adjusting for confounders (COVID-19 status, oral health behaviors, smoking, age in years, sex, and highest educational level). The response rate was 88.8% (373/420). The mean (SD) age = 39.26 (11.45) with 74.3% females and 49.3% reporting completing high school or higher education. The mean (SD) plaque and gingival indices were 1.59 (0.66) and 1.39 (0.59), respectively. Only 20.1% reported the presence of oral ulcers and 41.6% reported xerostomia. Lower plaque score was associated with higher COVID-19 contamination fears (B = - 0.03, 95% CI - 0.05, - 0.02) and higher compulsive checking and reassurance-seeking (B = - 0.02, 95% CI - 0.03, - 0.009). Lower gingival score was associated with higher COVID-19 contamination fears (B = - 0.02, 95% CI - 0.03, - 0.002). Higher odds of reporting dry mouth were associated with greater fear of COVID-19 socioeconomic consequences (AOR = 1.05, 95% CI 1.001, 1.09), and lower coping scores (AOR = 0.93, 95% CI 0.88, 0.99). The findings suggest an association between COVID-19 specific stresses and stress-related oral conditions and shed light on the possible link between mental and oral health, emphasizing the importance of integrated planning of care services.

Abstract
Objectives This study aimed to examine the clinical effects of myofunctional treatment on children with functional mouth breathing by cephalometric radiographs and study models. Methods A total of 224 children (6–10 years old; 114 males and 110 females; SNA°: 82.24 ± 1.67°; ANB°: 2.79 ± 0.80°, 28° < SN-GoGn° < 37°) formed three groups: MB-M group (mouth breathers with myofunctional treatment,n = 75); MB-N group (mouth breathers with no treatment,n = 70); NB group (nasal breathers with no treatment, n = 79). A blind evaluation of cephalometric radiographs and study models was conducted at T1(pre-study) and T2 (post-study), respectively. Results Two hundred four children (MB-M:66, MB-N:68, NB:70) completed the present study. At T1, MB-M and MB-N groups, compared to their NB counterpart, had greater anterior lower facial height(P < 0.01) and overjet(P < 0.001) but shorter overbite and maxillary canines width (P < 0.001). At T2, the MB-N group exhibited a higher ANB angle, anterior lower facial height, and overjet, but shorter overbite and maxillary canines width (P < 0.001). From T1 to T2, the anterior lower facial height increased, overbite and the maxillary canines width further decreased in the MB-N group (P < 0.001). However, in the MB-M group, the incisors were retracted, overbite increased (P < 0.001), anterior lower facial height increased insignificantly (P > 0.05), and maxillary canines width increased slightly (P < 0.05). In the NB and MB-M groups, the mandible showed a normal tendency to grow forward, whereas, in the MB-N group, the mandible showed a tendency to grow downward (P < 0.001). Conclusions Mouth breathers demonstrated increased anterior facial height and overjet but reduced overbite and maxillary arch width, which improved significantly following myofunctional treatment. Abstract
PURPOSE Manufacturing-related inaccuracies of surgical guides for static computer-aided implant surgery may contribute to the overall potential error in the obtained implant position. Measuring such inaccuracies before surgery may provide quality control assessment and improve the safety and outcomes of guided implant surgery. This technical report demonstrates a workflow to measure the accuracy of a surgical guide (at the intaglio surface and sleeve housing) using a freeware metrology software program. METHODS The scan of a milled surgical guide was aligned to and compared with its reference computer-aided design model using a freeware metrology software program (GOM Inspect suite; GOM GmbH). The trueness of the internal surface of the surgical guide was measured as an indicator of adaptation to the supporting tissues. Additionally, some features were constructed to extract the plane at the sleeve entrance and sleeve axis and to set a local coordinate system on them. Linear and angular deviations between the planned and obtained sleeve axes were measured using this system. Such measurements, together with additional known data (sleeve offset and the planned implant length), allowed the estimation of linear errors in implant position at both the implant platform and apex by applying common geometric formulas, based on the assumption that all other sources of error in implant position could be effectively controlled during the surgical procedure. CONCLUSION The proposed digital technique is a cost-effective approach for quality control of the inaccuracies of a surgical guide and predicts the related potential error in implant position.

Abstract
Background Periodontal disease is the most common oral health problem among individuals living with disabilities. Any physical impairment and/or mental handicap can compromise the capability to perform oral health care. Individuals with poor oral hygiene practice were prone to dental caries, periodontal disease, and upper respiratory tract infections. Despite the high prevalence of disabled people in Ethiopia, data are scarce about their periodontal status. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and determinant factors of periodontal disease among students living with disability in the Amhara region. Methods A school-based cross-sectional study was done on eight special needs schools in Amhara regional state from November 30, 2020, to April 10, 2021. A simple random sampling technique using a computer random generator was employed to recruit the study participants. The participants were interviewed for sociodemographic characteristics, oral hygiene practice, type of disability, and medical condition through a pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire. The periodontal status of the participants was evaluated using the community periodontal index (CPI). Data entry was done using the Epi-data and analyzed using SPSS 26. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify the predictors of periodontal disease at a 5% level of significance. Results A total of 443 study participants were involved with a mean age of 15.84 ± 3.882. Among these, 27.5% (95%CI 23.4–32.0) had a periodontal pocket depth of ≥ 4 mm, and 56.7% had bleeding on probing. The prevalence of periodontal disease was higher in participants with poor oral health status (52.2%), dental caries (34.8%), class-2 malocclusion (46.1%), and low monthly income (30.4%), visually impaired (30%), and mentally disorder (29.9%). Age of above 18 years (AOR = 3.41, 95%CI 1.40, 8.28), low family monthly income (AOR = 2.21; 95%CI 1.22, 4.03), malocclusion (AOR = 1.59, 95%CI 1.01, 2.54), poor oral health status (AOR = 9.41; 95%CI 4.92, 17.98), and dental caries (AOR = 1.85, 95%CI 1.21, 2.82) were independent predictors of periodontal disease. Conclusions A substantial amount of disabled school students in the study area had periodontal disease. The study found that there was a statistically significant association between age, family monthly income, malocclusion, oral health status, and dental caries with periodontal disease. The implementation of school oral health programs has a great benefit for the oral health status of disabled school students.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It has been claimed that an alkasite restorative material can neutralize acids produced by cariogenic bacteria from released hydrogen ions and enable to remineralization via calcium and fluoride ions. However, there is no evidence to support this assertion. Therefore, the aims of this study were to investigate the effect of the alkasite restorative material on the pH of Streptococcus mutans biofilm and dentin hardness. METHODS Streptococcus mutans biofilms were formed on Filtek™ Z350 (FZ, a resin composite) and Cention® N (CN, the alkasite restorative material) and their pH determined after 24 h. Hydroxide, fluoride, and calcium-ions released from the materials were determined at 6 h, 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days. Dentin specimens were prepared from 14 human molars and divided into four quadrants. Quadrant 1 was a sound dentin control, quadrants 2-4 were chemically demineralized, and a cylinder of FZ and CN placed on the surfaces of quadrants 2 and 4, respectively. The microhardness of quadrants 1 and 3 were measured at depths of 20, 40, and 60 µm from the occlusal surface, and similarly of quadrants 2 and 4, after 30 days. Independent t-test, Mann-Whitney-U, and repeated-measure-ANOVA were used for data analysis. RESULTS The pH of biofilm on CN (4.45) was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than that on FZ (4.06). The quantity of all ions released from CN was significantly higher than from FZ. The hardness of demineralized dentin under CN was significantly higher than that of demineralized dentin at all depths, and higher than that of demineralized dentin under FZ at 20 and 40 µm. CONCLUSIONS CN released hydroxide, fluoride, and calcium ions, which was associated with raising the biofilm pH and the hardness of demineralized dentin. All results indicated that CN had the potential to reduce the incidence of secondary caries.

Abstract
PURPOSE To analyze, in vitro, the dimensional stability over time of 3D-printed surgical guides. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten surgical guides, manufactured by digital light processing 3D-printing technology, were scanned immediately after post-processing and then after 5, 10, 15, and 20 days. The corresponding standard tessellation language (STL) files were used for comparison with the reference CAD project. Mean absolute deviation (MAD) of the intaglio surface, axial, and linear deviations of the sleeves' housings were measured. Generalized estimated equations models (α = .05) were used to investigate the effect of time. RESULTS MAD of the teeth intaglio surface showed less variation (minimum: 0.002, maximum: 0.014 mm) than that of the mucosa (minimum:0.026, maximum:0.074 mm). Axial variations of the sleeves' housings on the sagittal (minimum: -0.008, maximum: -0.577 degrees) and frontal plane (minimum: -0.193, maximum: 0.525 degrees) changed with similar patterns, but opposite trends (decreasing for the former). Linear deviations of center points of the sleeves' housings had a shifting (minimum: -0.074, maximum: 0.02 mm) pattern with a decreasing tendency. Time after processing had a significant effect, either alone or nested with guides volume, on all outcomes of interest, except for MAD of the mucosa intaglio surface (P<.001), which was significantly affected only by the time-volume nested effect (P = .012). CONCLUSIONS Within the limitations of the experimental design, post-manufacturing dimensional variations of surgical guides were statistically significant. Although limited, they are an additional source of variability affecting the overall accuracy of computer-guided surgery. As such, they should be addressed by further research. Abstract
Early childhood caries (ECC) is a significant chronic disease of childhood and a rising public health burden worldwide. ECC may cause a higher risk of new caries lesions in both primary and permanent dentition, affecting lifelong oral health. The occurrence of ECC has been closely related to the core microbiome change in the oral cavity, which may be influenced by diet habits, oral health management, fluoride use, and dental manipulations. So, it is essential to improve parental oral health and awareness of health care, to establish a dental home at the early stage of childhood, and make an individualized caries management plan. Dental interventions according to the minimally invasive concept should be carried out to treat dental caries. This expert consensus mainly discusses the etiology of ECC, caries-risk assessment of children, prevention and treatment plan of ECC, aiming to achieve lifelong oral health.

Abstract
Regional public attention has been critical during the COVID-19 pandemic, impacting the effectiveness of sub-national non-pharmaceutical interventions. While studies have focused on public attention at the national level, sub-national public attention has not been well investigated. Understanding sub-national public attention can aid local governments in designing regional scientific guidelines, especially in large countries with substantial spatiotemporal disparities in the spread of infections. Here, we evaluated the online public attention to the COVID-19 pandemic using internet search data and developed a regional public risk perception index (PRPI) that depicts heterogeneous associations between local pandemic risk and public attention across 366 Chinese cities. We used the Bayesian Spatiotemporally Varying Coefficients (STVC) model, a full-map local regression for estimating spatiotemporal heterogeneous relationships of variables, and improved it to the Bayesian Spatiotemporally Interacting Varying Coefficients (STIVC) model to incorporate space-time interaction non-stationarity at spatial or temporal stratified scales. COVID-19 daily cases (median contribution 82.6%) was the most critical factor affecting public attention, followed by urban socioeconomic conditions (16.7%) and daily population mobility (0.7%). After adjusting national and provincial impacts, city-level influence factors accounted for 89.4% and 58.6% in spatiotemporal variations of public attention. Spatiotemporal disparities were substantial among cities and provinces, suggesting that observing national-level public dynamics alone was insufficient. Multi-period PRPI maps revealed clusters and outlier cities with potential public panic and low health literacy. Bayesian STVC series models are systematically proposed and provide a multi-level spatiotemporal heterogeneous analytical framework for understanding collective human responses to major public health emergencies and disasters.

Abstract
Despite numerous clinical trials and pre-clinical developments, the diagnosis of cracked tooth, especially in the early stages, remains a challenge. Cracked tooth syndrome is often accompanied by dramatic painful responses from occlusion and temperature stimulation, which has become one of the leading causes for tooth loss in adults. Current clinical diagnostical approaches for cracked tooth have been widely investigated based on X-rays, optical light, ultrasound wave, etc. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) development have unlocked the possibility of detecting the crack in a more intellectual and automotive way. This may lead to the possibility of further enhancement of the diagnostic accuracy for cracked tooth disease. In this review, various medical imaging technologies for diagnosing cracked tooth are overviewed. In particular, the imaging modality, effect and the advantages of each diagnostic technique are discussed. What's more, AI-based crack detection and classification methods, especially the convolutional neural network (CNN)-based algorithms, including image classification (AlexNet), object detection (YOLO, Faster-RCNN), semantic segmentation (U-Net, Segnet) are comprehensively reviewed. Finally, the future perspectives and challenges in the diagnosis of the cracked tooth are lighted.

Abstract
Background Obesity and dental caries are global public health problems. There are conflicting reports about the relationship between caries and obesity. The aim of this study was to analyze the type of relationship between the dental caries and obesity among school children in Al-Jouf region of Saudi Arabia. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted among 400 participants aged 6 to 14 years. The study involved measuring caries (dmft/DMFT), assessing body mass index (BMI), and administering a self-completion questionnaire. An independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed. Results Out of 400 participants, 380 agreed to participate in the study. Overall caries prevalence among the participants was 76.1% and mean DMFT and dmft values were 2.8 ± 1.0 and 3.7 ± 1.6. Among the factors associated with mean caries scores, relation between DMFT scores and frequency of consumption of sugar was statistically significant (F = 3.82,0.01). Regression models has identified children with increased BMI values has 3.2 times more risk of getting dental caries in permanent teeth (P = 0.001). Conclusion There was a positive association between obesity and dental caries in school going Saudi Arabian children. Comprehensive multidisciplinary approach by health professionals is recommended for preventive public health issues related to caries and obesity in teenagers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This retrospective study investigated the effect of breathing pattern, skeletal class (Class I, Class II), and age on the hyoid bone position (HBP) in normodivergent subjects. METHODS A total of 126 subjects (61 males, 65 females) aged 7-9 years and 10-12 years were scanned using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). All participants were classified according to the anteroposterior skeletal pattern into (Class I, Class II). Each skeletal group was further divided according to the breathing mode into mouth breathers (MB) and nasal breathers (NB). The HBP was measured accordingly. Independent sample t-test and Mann Whitney U test were used to detect significant differences between the groups, and binary logistic regression was used to identify MB predictive indicators. RESULTS The breathing mode and skeletal class affected the vertical HBP in subjects with 7-9 years, while they affected the anteroposterior HBP in subjects with 10-12 years. Regarding the age effect, hyoid bone was located more anteriorly in the older NB subjects, and hyoid bone was more inferiorly in the older age group. A regression equation of the significant variables was formulated, C3-Me (P: 001, OR: 2.27), and H-EB (P: 0.046, OR: 1.16) were positively correlated with occurrence of MB. CONCLUSION There were significantly different HBPs among subjects with different anteroposterior skeletal classes, breathing modes, and age cohorts. Moreover, C3-Me, and H-EB were significant predictors and correlated with increased likelihood of being MB subject.

Abstract
BACKGROUND COVID-19 disrupted oral health care delivery and revealed gaps in dental public health emergency preparedness and response (PHEPR). Emerging dental PHEPR frameworks can be strengthened by means of understanding the experiences of the discipline's frontline workers-dental safety net providers-during the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS Experienced qualitative researchers interviewed dental safety net directors and clinicians (n = 21) in 6 states to understand their experiences delivering care from March 2020 through February 2021. Interview transcriptions were analyzed using iterative codes to identify major and minor themes. Conventional qualitative validity checks were used continuously to ensure impartiality and rigor. RESULTS Three major themes were identified: unpredictability caused concerns among staff members and patients, while also deepening fulfilling collaborations; care delivery was guided by means of various resources that balanced safety, flexibility, and respect for autonomy; and pandemic-driven changes to oral health care delivery are timely, long-lasting, and can be somewhat fraught. CONCLUSIONS The human, material, and policy resources that providers used to control infections, serve vulnerable patients, maintain clinic solvency, and address provider burnout during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic can improve dental PHEPR. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS Dental PHEPR should address concerns beyond infection control within and between practice models, governmental agencies, and professional organizations. Examples of such concerns include, but are not limited to, guideline synchronization, materials exigencies, task shifting, and provider resilience.
