Abstract
Post-stroke depression is commonly experienced by stroke survivors and has a significant negative impact on the physical, cognitive, and social functioning of those affected. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of depressive symptoms and their associated factors in Chinese stroke patients. Research samples were selected from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study 2018 survey. Depression was evaluated using the 10-item Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale, with a score ≥ 10 defined as depression. Univariate and multivariable analyses were performed to examine the associations of depressive symptoms with demographics, family relationships, health status, and lifestyle. A total of 963 stroke patients were included and 57.8% of them had depressive symptoms. Depressive symptoms were significantly associated with female sex (OR 1.762, 95% CI 1.235-2.514), lower education level (non-formal education: OR 2.148, 95% CI 1.235-3.737, primary to secondary school education: OR 1.964, 95% CI 1.272-3.033), dissatisfaction with spouse (OR 1.912, 95% CI 1.075-3.401), dissatisfaction with life (OR 1.779, 95% CI 1.080-2.931), dissatisfaction with health (OR 1.592, 95% CI 1.138-2.226), pain (OR 1.392, 95% CI 1.005-1.928) and abnormal sleep (OR 1.557, 95% CI 1.126-2.152). The findings suggest the need for regular depression screening and evaluation after a stroke, and that a well-functioning support system, effective health management, and lifestyle modifications could potentially improve the mental state of stroke patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the associations between provider payment methods and expenditure of depressive patients, stratified by service types and hospital levels. METHODS We used a 5 % random sample of urban claims data in China (2013-2017), collected by China Health Insurance Research Association. Provider payment methods (fee-for-services, global budget, capitation, case-based and per-diem payments) were the explanatory variables. A generalized linear model was fitted for the associations between provider payment methods and expenditure. All analyses were adjusted for patient"cioeconomic and health-related characteristics. RESULTS In total, 64,615 depressive patient visits were included, 59,459 for outpatients and 5156 for inpatients. Female patients accounted for 63.00 %. The total and out-of-pocket (OOP) expenditure significantly differentiated by provider payments. Among outpatient services, when comparing with fee-for-services, capitation payment was associated with substantial marginal reduction in total and OOP expenditure (-$34.18, -$9.71) in primary institutes, yet increases ($27.26, $24.11) in secondary hospitals. Similarly, global budget was associated with lower total and OOP expenditure (-$13.51, -$1.61) in secondary hospitals, while higher total and OOP expenditure ($7.43, $32.27) in tertiary hospitals than fee-for-services. For inpatients, total and OOP expenditures under per-diem (-$857.65, -$283.48) and case-based payments (-$997.93, -$137.56) were remarkably smaller than those under fee-for-services in primary and secondary hospitals, respectively. Besides, case-base payment was only linked with the largest reduction in OOP expense (-$239.39) in inpatient services of tertiary hospitals. LIMITATION Only urban claims data was included in this study, and investigations for rural population still warrant. And updated data are needed for future studies. CONCLUSIONS There were varying correlations between provider payment methods and expenditure, which differed by service types and hospital levels. These findings provided empirical evidence for optimizing the mixed payment methods for depression in China.

Abstract
PURPOSES The paper aims to investigative the cacuses and impacts of In- and Vacancy-doped to 6H-SiC, expecting that improving optical properties of materials. Design-Using the first-principles calculations, we discuss the electronic structure and optical properties of different doped 6H-SiC systems. FINDINGS The results show that In-doped 6H-SiC becomes a direct bandgap p-type semiconductor and the energy bandgap is reduced from the intrinsic 2.059 to 1.515 eV. We demonstrate the stability of the systems through the formation energy analysis, meanwhile identify their physical origins and discuss applications of all structures in electronic devices within optical analysis. Find the energy beginning values of the VSi-doped and VC-doped systems' optical absorption spectrums and extend to 0.4 2 eV and 0.11 eV respectively compared with the original 3.23 eV. In the visible light region, the reflectivity images of the VC/VSi and (In, VSi)-codoped systems rise obviously. CONCLUSIONS The optical properties of all doping systems were analyzed to be improved compared with the intrinsic, all above mentioned provide a theoretical basis for the fabrication of spintronic and optical devices.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics of unilateral vertebral artery V4 segment occlusive lesions (severe stenosis or occlusion), where the contralateral vertebral artery can be compensated through blood flow and reverse supply to the posterior inferior cerebellarartery (PICA). Methods: This study is a retrospective case series of 66 patients with V4 segment occlusive lesions of unilateral vertebral artery diagnosed and treated from June 2020 to October 2022. Patient data were retrospectively collected, and their hemodynamic characteristics and imaging data were analyzed. Results: Of the 66 cases, 11 patients (16.7%) with V4 segment occlusive disease showed the blood flow of the vertebral artery on the opposite side of the lesion on the digital subtraction angiography (DSA), which can be reverse stolen to the posterior inferior cerebellar artery of the diseased side through the confluence point of the vertebrobasilar artery through the distal end of the ipsilateral vertebral artery V4. Owing to the lack of literature on this pathway and based on the characteristics of previous definitions of subclavian artery steal and carotid artery steal, we referred to this pathway as the vertebral artery V4 segment steal. In 6 patients (9.1%), transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) and transcranial color Doppler ultrasound (TCCD) showed that the blood flow signal was not detected at the proximal end of the V4 segment of the affected side, rather the blood flow direction was reversed at the distal end of the V4 segment, resulting in compensatory acceleration of the blood flow velocity of the V4 segment of the contralateral vertebral artery. Conclusion: "V4 segment steal of vertebral artery" is a very rare route of vertebral artery steal. When V4 segment of the vertebral artery is occluded, clinicians should pay attention to observe the blood supply of PICA and whether there is such a steal route, to better evaluate the blood flow compensation and prognosis of patients.

Abstract
Both NO and GAs are essential for regulating various physiological processes and stress responses in plants. However, the interaction between these two molecules remains unclear. We investigated the distinct response patterns of Arabidopsis thaliana Col-0 and GA synthesis functional deficiency mutants to NO by measuring root length. To investigate underlying mechanisms, we detected bioactive GA content using UHPLC-ESI-MS/MS, assessed the accumulation of ROS by chemical staining Arabidopsis roots. We also conducted RNA-seq analysis and compared results between Col-0 and ga3ox1, with and without SNP (as NO donor) treatment. Phenotypic results revealed that the inhibitory effect of NO on primary roots of Arabidopsis was primarily mediated by GA3-oxidase, rather than GA20-oxidase or GA2-oxidase. The content of GA3 decreased in Col-0 treated with SNP, whereas this decrease was not observed in ga3ox1. The deficiency of GA3-oxidase alleviated the buildup of H2 O2 in roots when treated with SNP. We identified 222 DEGs. GO annotation of these DEGs revealed that all top 20 GO terms were related to stress responses. Moreover, three DEGs were annotated to GA-related processes (DDF1, DDF2, EXPA1), and seven DEGs were associated with root development (RAV1, RGF2, ERF71, ZAT6, MYB77, XT1, and DTX50). In summary, NO inhibits primary root growth partially by repressing GA3-oxidase catalysed GA3 synthesis in Arabidopsis. ROS, Ca2+ , DDF1, DDF2, EXPA1 and seven root development-related genes may be involved in crosstalk between NO and GAs.

Abstract
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains one of the most devastating diseases; it has a considerably poor prognosis and may become the second most lethal malignancy in the next 10 years. Chemotherapeutic resistance is common in PDAC; thus, it is necessary to exploit effective alternative drugs. In recent years, traditional folk medicines and their extracts have shown great potential in cancer treatment. The seed of Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standl. is a traditional medicine in Asia. Because of its analgesic effects and ability to reduce swelling, it is often used as an adjuvant treatment for abdominal tumors. Cucurbitacin compounds are extracts abundant in Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Standl. Here, we found that cucurbitacin C (CuC), a member of the cucurbitacin family, has apparent anti-PDAC therapeutic properties. CuC decreased the viability and suppressed the proliferation of PDAC cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner. Further studies revealed that CuC inhibited cell migration and invasion by inhibiting epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). In addition, G2/M arrest was induced, and the apoptotic pathway was activated. Transcriptomic and bioinformatic analyses showed that CuC inhibited the cGMP-PKG-VASP axis, increasing the content of cGMP to restore tumor characteristics. The antitumor activity of CuC in vivo was verified through animal experiments, and no obvious side effects were observed. Overall, our study indicates a candidate therapeutic compound for PDAC that is worthy of further development.

Abstract
Lead (Pb), as a heavy metal that is easily exposed in daily life, can cause damage to various systems of body. Apoptosis is an autonomous cell death process regulated by genes in order to maintain the stability of internal environment, which plays an important role in the development of nervous system. RB binding protein 4 (RBBP4) is one of the core histone binding subunits and is closely related to the apoptosis process of nervous system cells. However, it is not known whether RBBP4 can regulate neuronal apoptosis in lead-exposed environments. We exposed PC12 cells to 0 μM (control group), 1 μM, and 100 μM PbAc for 24 h to obtain cell samples. The female rats ingested drinking water containing 0, 0.5 g/L, and 2.0 g/L PbAc from the first day of pregnancy to three weeks after delivery to obtain hippocampal tissue samples from mammary rats. The results of TUNEL showed that lead exposure promoted the onset of apoptosis in cells and hippocampus. The mRNA and protein levels of the apoptosis-related protein Survivin were significantly reduced in the lead-exposed group compared to the control group. In addition, we found that lead exposure reduces the mRNA and protein levels of RBBP4 in PC12 cells and hippocampus, and increases the mRNA and protein levels of NFκB p65. Moreover, inhibiting NFκB p65 can reverse the decrease in RBBP4 expression in the lead exposure model. Overexpression of RBBP4 increased Survivin expression and reduced apoptosis induced by lead exposure. This suggests that lead exposure induces apoptosis through the NFκB p65/RBBP4/Survivin signaling pathway.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Aflibercept has been approved for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer for more than a decade, but its antiangiogenesis adverse effect profile during treatment remains unclear. This study is conducted to systematically review the risk of antiangiogenic adverse events in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer receiving aflibercept plus chemotherapy. METHODS We searched databases, including PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library up to September 9, 2021. Relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and single-arm studies were included in the review. Statistical analyses were performed using R to calculate the summary incidence rate of antiangiogenic-related adverse events, odds ratios and 95% CIs. Heterogeneity among the included studies was assessed by subgroup analysis. Publication bias analysis and sensitivity analysis were performed to confirm the reliability of the results. RESULTS A total of 2889 patients from 10 studies met the inclusion criteria. The quality of the included studies was evaluated as qualified for further quantitative synthesis. In part of single-arm studies, the occurrence rates were 44.2% (95%CI, 39.7-48.7%) for hypertension, 31.3% (95% CI, 19.3-43.3%) for proteinuria, 27.3% (95%CI, 21.2-33.4%) for epistaxis, 22.5% (95%CI, 7.8-37.3%) for hemorrhage events, 8.0% (95%CI, 2.0-14 .0%) for venous thromboembolic event in all grades and 22.6% (95%CI, 19.1-26.2%) for grade III/IV hypertension, 7.4% (95%CI, 6.2-8.5%) for grade III/IV proteinuria. In part of RCT, compared to its counterpart, aflibercept containing arm was associated with the increased incidence rate in hypertension (OR:6.30, 95%CI: 3.49-11.36), proteinuria (OR:4.12, 95%CI: 1.25-13.61), epistaxis (OR:3.71, 95%CI: 2.84-4.85), III/IV hypertension (OR:7.20, 95%CI: 5.23-9.92), III/IV proteinuria (OR:5.13, 95%CI: 3.13-8.41). The funnel plot, Begg test and Egger test were carried out on the primary endpoints, III/IV hypertension rate and III/IV proteinuria rate, the result of which detected no obvious publication bias. No significant difference was observed in subgroup analysis in the primary endpoint between the subgroups stratified by treatment line (firstline or non-firstline), chemotherapy regime (FOLFIRI or others) and study design (RCTs or single-arm trials). CONCLUSION The available evidence suggests that using aflibercept is associated with an increased risk of antiangiogenic adverse events compared with controls. Further studies are needed to investigate this association. In the appropriate clinical scenario, the use of aflibercept in its approved indications remains justified. However, the results of this study should be interpreted with caution, as some of the evidence comes from single-arm clinical trials.

Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the trends and characteristics of early visual development in infants and young children. Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted, including full-term infants born between 2008 and 2013 at the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Sanhe City, Hebei Province, China. Visual acuity was assessed at three time points 42 days after birth, 9 months of age, and 18 months of age, using the Teller Acuity Card Ⅱ (TAC Ⅱ) grating visual acuity test. At 3 years of age, visual acuity was assessed using the Lea Symbols chart and converted to grating visual acuity. Visual acuity of both eyes was measured at 42 days, 9 months, and 18 months. For children at 9 and 18 months, monocular visual acuity was also assessed, while at 3 years of age, monocular visual acuity was measured. Visual acuity measurements at different time points and changes in visual acuity within each period were recorded. The visual development of the participants was analyzed and compared with previous literature results. Results: A total of 1 496 children were included in the study, including 773 males (51.67%) and 723 females (48.33%). The binocular visual acuity at 42 days, 9 months, and 18 months was 0.9 (0.6, 1.1), 6.4 (6.4, 9.6), and 9.6 (9.6, 9.6) cycles per degree (cpd), respectively, with statistically significant differences (P<0.001). Visual acuity increased by a factor of 3.21±0.70 between 42 days and 9 months, and by a factor of 0.23±0.48 between 9 and 18 months. At 9 months of age, the monocular visual acuity in the right and left eyes was 6.4 (4.8, 6.4) cpd, which remained the same at 18 months, and the median visual acuity at 3 years of age for both eyes was 18.75 cpd, with a Snellen visual acuity of 20/32 (20/40, 20/32). The differences in binocular visual acuity at each time point were not statistically significant (all P>0.05). At 9 months of age, 68.7%(633/921) of children had visual acuity of ≥6.5 cpd, which increased to 92.7%(342/369) at 18 months. Monocular visual acuity increased by a factor of 0.26±0.46 between 9 and 18 months, and by a factor of 1.36±0.52 between 18 months and 3 years. At 9 months of age, 72.01% (921 out of 1 279) of children who completed binocular visual acuity testing also underwent monocular visual acuity testing, while this proportion decreased to 35.83% (369 out of 1 030) at 18 months. Visual acuity improved with increasing age (P<0.001). The visual acuity of children at each age group in this study was higher than that reported in the literature for children in Guangzhou (P<0.001). Conclusions: The visual acuity of healthy infants and young children below 3 years of age improves with age. Visual development progresses rapidly before 9 months of age, slows down afterward, and then resumes rapid growth at 18 months of age.

Abstract
The avian influenza virus (AIV) PA protein contributes to viral replication and pathogenicity; however, its interaction with innate immunity is not well understood. Here, we report that the H5 subtype AIV PA protein strongly suppresses host antiviral defense by interacting with and degrading a key protein in interferon (IFN) signaling, Janus kinase 1 (JAK1). Specifically, the AIV PA protein catalyzes the K48-linked polyubiquitination and degradation of JAK1 at lysine residue 249. Importantly, the AIV PA protein harboring 32T/550L degrades both avian and mammalian JAK1, while the AIV PA protein with residues 32M/550I degrades avian JAK1 only. Furthermore, the residues 32T/550L in PA protein confer optimum polymerase activity and AIV growth in mammalian cells. Notably, the replication and virulence of the AIV PA T32M/L550I mutant are attenuated in infected mice. Collectively, these data reveal an interference role for H5 subtype AIV PA protein in host innate immunity, which can be targeted for the development of specific and effective anti-influenza therapeutics.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the interaction between Tubulin beta 4B class IVb (TUBB4B) and Agtpbp1/cytosolic carboxypeptidase- like1 (CCP1) in mouse primary spermatocytes (GC-2 cells) and the role of TUBB4B in regulating the development of GC-2 cells. METHODS Lentiviral vectors were used to infect GC-2 cells to construct TUBB4B knockdown and negative control (NC-KD) cells. The stable cell lines with TUBB4B overexpression (Tubb4b-OE) and the negative control (NC-OE) cells were screened using purinomycin. RT-qPCR and Western blotting were used to verify successful cell modeling and explore the relationship between TUBB4B and CCP1 expressions in GC-2 cells. The effects of TUBB4B silencing and overexpression on the proliferation and cell cycle of GC-2 cells were evaluated using CCK8 assay and flow cytometry. The signaling pathway proteins showing significant changes in response to TUBB4B silencing or overexpression were identified using Western blotting and immunofluorescence assay and then labeled for verification at the cellular level. RESULTS Both TUBB4B silencing and overexpression in GC-2 cells caused consistent changes in the mRNA and protein expressions of CCP1 (P < 0.05). Similarly, TUBB4B expression also showed consistent changes at the mRNA and protein after CCP1 knockdown and restoration (P < 0.05). TUBB4B knockdown and overexpression had no significant effect on proliferation rate or cell cycle of GC-2 cells, but caused significant changes in the key proteins of the nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) signaling pathway (p65 and p-p65) and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway (ErK1/2 and p-Erk1/2) (P < 0.05); CCP1 knockdown induced significant changes in PolyE expression in GC-2 cells (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS TUBB4B and CCP1 interact via a mutual positive regulation mechanism in GC-2 cells. CCP-1 can deglutamize TUBB4B, and the latter is involved in the regulation of NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways in primary spermatocytes.

Abstract
Cardiac arrest is one of the major public health problems with sudden onset, high mortality and high disability rate. The prevalence of cardiovascular disease continues to rise and the burden of cardiac arrest is increasing in China. It is of great significance to explore more effective prevention and treatment measures to improve the prognosis of patients with cardiac arrest. This article discusses the relevant progress on the treatment ability of emergency and critical cardiovascular diseases, medicines and technologies for cardiac arrest care, and registry studies of cardiac arrest, to further promote the effective improvement of key capacities at various stages of the prevention and treatment of cardiac arrest in China.

Abstract
There are many products in the market advertised as masking agents used to overpower strong nuisance odors, such as in or around water resource recovery facilities, solid waste processing facilities, landfills, composting sites, etc. Very little is known about the chemical component of these masking agents because they are protected by trade secrets. This is a problem for the parties involved, as the process of choosing the most adequate agent for the particular odor source falls into guesswork. This paper demonstrates that it is possible to determine how effective the masking product would be before spending time and resources in trials. It proposes to show this by comparing the Weber-Fechner curves of the odor-causing compounds known to be emitted at the facility with the curves from the potential masking agents prepared in the laboratory using an olfactometer. Several sensorial examples show that when the Weber-Fechner curves of the odorants and those of candidate masking agents are compared, it is possible to define the effectiveness of the masking agent tested. This is a novel use of the Weber-Fechner curves. The results show there is direct correlation between what is observed by a panel with real life odor samples subjected to incremental dilution and the Weber-Fechner odor intensity-odor concentration curve interaction between the odorants involved. Future work characterizing additional potential masking compounds by Weber-Fechner accompanied by odor profiling with dynamic olfactometry should shed light on the definitive effectiveness of this method in predicting masking effects and discovering useful masking compounds.

Abstract
Objectives: To investigated the safety and efficacy of treating patients with acute non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and elevated levels of N-terminal pro-hormone B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) with levosimendan within 24 hours of first medical contact (FMC). Methods: This multicenter, open-label, block-randomized controlled trial (NCT03189901) investigated the safety and efficacy of levosimendan as an early management strategy of acute heart failure (EMS-AHF) for patients with NSTEMI and high NT-proBNP levels. This study included 255 patients with NSTEMI and elevated NT-proBNP levels, including 142 males and 113 females with a median age of 65 (58-70) years, and were admitted in the emergency or outpatient departments at 14 medical centers in China between October 2017 and October 2021. The patients were randomly divided into a levosimendan group (n=129) and a control group (n=126). The primary outcome measure was NT-proBNP levels on day 3 of treatment and changes in the NT-proBNP levels from baseline on day 5 after randomization. The secondary outcome measures included the proportion of patients with more than 30% reduction in NT-proBNP levels from baseline, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) during hospitalization and at 6 months after hospitalization, safety during the treatment, and health economics indices. The measurement data parameters between groups were compared using the t-test or the non-parametric test. The count data parameters were compared between groups using the χ² test. Results: On day 3, the NT-proBNP levels in the levosimendan group were lower than the control group but were statistically insignificant [866 (455, 1 960) vs. 1 118 (459, 2 417) ng/L, Z=-1.25,P=0.21]. However, on day 5, changes in the NT-proBNP levels from baseline in the levosimendan group were significantly higher than the control group [67.6% (33.8%,82.5%)vs.54.8% (7.3%,77.9%), Z=-2.14, P=0.03]. There were no significant differences in the proportion of patients with more than 30% reduction in the NT-proBNP levels on day 5 between the levosimendan and the control groups [77.5% (100/129) vs. 69.0% (87/126), χ²=2.34, P=0.13]. Furthermore, incidences of MACE did not show any significant differences between the two groups during hospitalization [4.7% (6/129) vs. 7.1% (9/126), χ²=0.72, P=0.40] and at 6 months [14.7% (19/129) vs. 12.7% (16/126), χ²=0.22, P=0.64]. Four cardiac deaths were reported in the control group during hospitalization [0 (0/129) vs. 3.2% (4/126), P=0.06]. However, 6-month survival rates were comparable between the two groups (log-rank test, P=0.18). Moreover, adverse events or serious adverse events such as shock, ventricular fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia were not reported in both the groups during levosimendan treatment (days 0-1). The total cost of hospitalization [34 591.00(15 527.46,59 324.80) vs. 37 144.65(16 066.90,63 919.00)yuan, Z=-0.26, P=0.80] and the total length of hospitalization [9 (8, 12) vs. 10 (7, 13) days, Z=0.72, P=0.72] were lower for patients in the levosimendan group compared to those in the control group, but did not show statistically significant differences. Conclusions: Early administration of levosimendan reduced NT-proBNP levels in NSTEMI patients with elevated NT-proBNP and did not increase the total cost and length of hospitalization, but did not significantly improve MACE during hospitalization or at 6 months.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aims to propose a lateral cervical stria approach for selective neck dissection (SND) in patients of early-stage oral malignancies. MATERIAL AND METHODS The lateral cervical stria approach was used in 11 patients undergoing SND between December 2020 and March 2022. The surgical incision was located in submandibular cervical stria, with a length of 5.0 cm. The ipsilateral SND was performed according to the pathological type, covering part or all of I-V levels. Perioperative variables including operation time, blood loss, drainage volume, number of lymph node as well as complications were assessed. The score of appearance using the University of Washington Quality of Life Questionnaire (UW-QOL) was recorded 6-month postoperatively. RESULTS Direct closure of primary lesion was performed in ten patients and a forearm free flap reconstruction was used in one patient. No wound breakdown or infection was found in all cases. The mean operative time of SND was 157.63±27.39 min. The volume of intraoperative blood loss and postoperative drainage was 120.45±36.77 ml and 314.09±98.82 ml, respectively. The mean number of retrieved lymph nodes was 17.89±6.03 (ranging from 12 to 31). Postoperative complications included mild static lower lip deviation (n=1), shoulder discomfort (n=1) and mild auricular paraesthesia (n=1). The mean score of appearance was 86.36±13.06, with 100 scores in 5 patients and 75 scores in 6 patients. CONCLUSIONS The lateral cervical stria approach for SND in early-stage oral malignancies is reliable, achieving to satisfactory functional and aesthetic outcomes.

Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine diseases in women of reproductive age and features complex pathological symptoms and mechanisms. Existing medical treatments have, to some extent, alleviated the deterioration of PCOS. However, these strategies only temporarily control symptoms, with a few side effects and no preventive effect. Phytochemicals extracted from medicinal herbs and plants are vital for discovering novel drugs. In recent years, many kinds of research have proven that phytochemicals isolated from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and medicinal plants show significant potential in preventing, alleviating, and treating PCOS. Nevertheless, compared to the abundance of experimental literature and minimal specific-topic reviews related to PCOS, there is a lack of systematic reviews to summarize these advancements in this promising field. Under this background, we systematically document the progress of bioactive phytochemicals from TCM and medicinal plants in treating PCOS, including flavonoids, polyphenols, and alkaloids. According to the literature, these valuable phytochemicals demonstrated therapeutic effects on PCOS supported by in vivo and in vitro experiments, mainly depending on anti-inflammatory, antioxidation, improvement of hormone disorder and insulin resistance (IR), and alleviation of hyperinsulinemia. Based on the current progress, future research directions should emphasize 1) exploring bioactive phytochemicals that potentially mediate bone metabolism for the treatment of PCOS; 2) improving unsatisfactory bioavailability by using advanced drug delivery systems such as nanoparticles and antibody-conjugated drugs, as well as a chemical modification; 3) conducting in-depth research on the pathogenesis of PCOS to potentially impact the gut microbiota and its metabolites in the evolution of PCOS; 4) revealing the pharmacological effects of these bioactive phytochemicals on PCOS at the genetic level; and 5) exploring the hypothetical and unprecedented functions in regulating PCOS by serving as proteolysis-targeting chimeras and molecular glues compared with traditional small molecule drugs. In brief, this review aims to provide detailed mechanisms of these bioactive phytochemicals and hopefully practical and reliable insight into clinical applications concerning PCOS.

Abstract
Macau, Hong Kong and Singapore are all facing increasing population aging. Those aged 65 and over make up the old-age population. The working-age population refers to the population aged 15 to 64. Conventionally, the burden of population aging is measured by the Old-Age Dependency Ratio, which is the ratio of the old-age population to the working-age population. As life expectancy rises, depending exclusively on age to calculate the burden of aging hinders the development of effective anti-aging strategies. The working-age population's education and the elderly's health affect the aging burden's support and generator, respectively. Including them in the calculation gives us a fuller view of the burden of aging. Objective To compare the population aging burden in Macau, Hong Kong, and Singapore by including working-age population education and elderly health. Methods The overall, working-age and old-age population and proportion, as well as the Old-Age Dependency Ratio of Macau, Hong Kong, and Singapore, were collected from the World Bank database. The life expectancy at 65 was extracted from the 2022 World Population Prospect. The tertiary education rate of the working-age population and the self-rated health status of the old-age population were retrieved from governments' statistical reports. We then calculated the Education-Health Adjusted Old-Age Dependency Ratio, a set of four equations showing the support of the working-age population on the old-age population, where OADRh_t and OADRuh_t represent the burden of healthy and unhealthy old-age population on the working-age population with tertiary education; similarly, OADRh_nt and OADRuh_nt indicate the burden placed on the working-age population without tertiary education by healthy and unhealthy old-age population. Lastly, for comparison with the conventional Old-Age Dependency Ratio, we generated the Weighted Education-Health Adjusted Old-Age Dependency Ratio. Results Hong Kong has the greatest old-age population proportion and Old-Age Dependency Ratio, yet its growth rates are moderate and stable, ranging from 0 to 4% and 0 to 6%, respectively. Macau and Singapore experienced sharper changes in old-age population proportion and the Old-Age Dependency Ratio, with Macau's Old-Age Dependency Ratio varying between -2.66 and 8.50% and Singapore's ranging from -1.53 to 9.70%. Three cities showed different patterns in four Education-Health Adjusted Old-Age Dependency Ratio indicators. In Macau, the OADRh_nt and OADRuh_nt increased by 0.4 and 6.2, while the OADRh_t and OADRuh_t decreased by 13.5 and 15.3 from 2004 to 2016. In Hong Kong, only the OADRuh_t fell by 9.4, and the other three increased from 2003 to 2015. In Singapore, the OADRh_nt and OADRh_t increased by 3.8 and 1.0, while OADRuh_nt and OADRuh_t decreased by 1.2 and 3.9 from 2007 to 2011. The Weighted Education-Health Adjusted Old-Age Dependency Ratios are all smaller than the conventional Old-Age Dependency Ratio in the three regions, particularly in Singapore. The Weighted Education-Health Adjusted Old-Age Dependency Ratio of Singapore was reduced by 9.5 to 30.5% compared with the conventional Old-Age Dependency Ratio, that of Hong Kong reduced by 6.2 to 22.5%, and that of Macau reduced by 4.4 to 16.1%. Conclusion This is the first study to compare the aging burden in Macau, Hong Kong, and Singapore in connection to working-age population education and elderly health. With the new assessment, the burden of population aging in three regions has been reduced, showing that improving the education of the working-age population and maintaining older people's wellbeing can assist authorities to deal with population aging, especially in Macau and Hong Kong.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study evaluated the correlation between placental lakes and non-reassuring fetal status. SUBJECTS AND METHODS We analyzed data from pregnant women who underwent fetal echocardiography at the Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital. Women with singleton pregnancies at a gestational age of 20-24 weeks were included. Sociodemographic and clinical data were collected. Pregnant women with (case group) and without (control group) placental lakes were screened, and their placental Doppler ultrasound data and pregnancy outcome were recorded. Univariate and multivariable analyses were done to evaluate the correlation between the volume of placental lakes and the non-reassuring fetal status. RESULTS A total of 1,728 pregnant women (156 with placental lakes) were included in this study. There were no significant differences in age of delivery and BMI between the pregnant women with placental lakes and the control group. The non-reassuring fetal status rate in the case group was higher than that in the control population, without statistical significance (5.8% vs. 3.5%, p=0.226). Subgroup analysis showed that a higher volume of placental lakes was positively associated with non-reassuring fetal status risk, with an odds ratio (OR) (95% CI) of 1.90 (1.29-2.66) (p for trend < 0.001). This positive correlation persisted even after adjustment for confounding factors. CONCLUSIONS Taken together, our analyses demonstrated a graded increase in the non-reassuring fetal status rate with increased volume of placental lakes. Thus, robust clinical monitoring of placental lakes would help in timely detection of non-reassuring fetal status.

Abstract
Influenza A virus (IAV) polymerase protein PB2 has been shown to partially inhibit the host immune response by blocking the induction of interferons (IFNs). However, the IAV PB2 protein that regulates the downstream signaling pathway of IFNs is not well characterized. Here, we report that IAV PB2 protein reduces cellular sensitivity to IFNs, suppressing the activation of STAT1/STAT2 and ISGs. Furthermore, IAV PB2 protein targets mammalian JAK1 at lysine 859 and 860 for ubiquitination and degradation. Notably, the H5 subtype of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus with I283M/K526R mutations on PB2 increases the ability to degrade mammalian JAK1 and exhibits higher replicate efficiency in mammalian (but not avian) cells and mouse lung tissues, and causes greater mortality in infected mice. Altogether, these data describe a negative regulatory mechanism involving PB2-JAK1 and provide insights into an evasion strategy from host antiviral immunity employed by IAV.

Abstract
Background: Metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) imposes a heavy tumor burden worldwide due to limited availability of therapeutic drugs. Aflibercept, a kind of recombinant protein of the anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family, has been approved in clinical application among mCRC patients since 2012. A comprehensive analysis of the efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness of aflibercept in mCRC treatment is necessary.Objective: To evaluate the efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness of aflibercept for the treatment of mCRC in order to provide a decision-making reference for the selection of targeted drugs for second-line treatment of mCRC in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions of China and the selection of new drugs for medical institutions in these regions.Methods: A systematic retrieve on databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang, and Weipu, as well as relevant websites and databases of health technology assessment including the National Institute of Health and Clinical Optimization, Centre for Evaluation and Communication at the University of York, and the Canadian Agency for Medicines and Health Technology, was conducted. The literature was screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and data were extracted and analyzed by two authors, while the quality of the literature was assessed.Results: Finally, we included two HTA reports, 11 systematic reviews/meta-analyses, and two cost-effectiveness studies in the rapid health technology assessment. For mCRC patients receiving second-line treatment, aflibercept combined with FOLFIRI significantly increased progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) and the objective response rate (ORR) also improved, compared with folinic acid + fluorouracil + irinotecan (FOLFIRI). In terms of safety, mCRC patients who received aflibercept combined with FOLFIRI therapy had a higher incidence of grade 3–4 adverse events than those who received FOLFIRI alone, including anti-VEGF–related adverse events (hypertension, hemorrhagic events, and proteinuria) and chemotherapy-related adverse events (diarrhea, weakness, stomatitis, hand-foot syndrome, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia). In terms of cost-effectiveness, two economic studies conducted in the United Kingdom and Japan, respectively, found that compared with FOLFIRI, aflibercept combined with FOLFIRI had no cost-effectiveness advantage in mCRC patients receiving second-line treatment.Conclusion: Compared with FOLFIRI treatment, aflibercept combined with FOLFIRI for the second-line treatment of mCRC patients has better efficacy, worse safety, and is not cost-effective. More high-quality clinical studies are required for further exploration of aflibercept’s clinical value. Medical institutions in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions of China should be cautious when using or introducing aflibercept plus FOLFIRI as a mCRC treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Due to the increasing ageing population, neurocognitive disorders (NCDs) have been a global public health issue, and its prevention and early diagnosis are crucial. Our previous study demonstrated that there is a significant correlation between specific populations and NCDs, but the biological characteristics of the vulnerable group predispose to NCDs are unclear. The purpose of this study is to investigate the predictors for the vulnerable group by a multi-omics analysis. METHODS Multi-omics approaches, including metagenomics, metabolomic and proteomic, were used to detect gut microbiota, faecal metabolites and urine exosome of 8 normal controls and 13 vulnerable elders after a rigorous screening of 400 elders in Macao. The multi-omics data were analysed using R and Bioconductor. The two-sided Wilcoxon's rank-sum test, Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test and the linear discriminant analysis effective size were applied to investigate characterized features. Moreover, a 2-year follow-up was conducted to evaluate cognitive function change of the elderly. RESULTS Compared with the control elders, the metagenomics of gut microbiota showed that Ruminococcus gnavus, Lachnospira eligens, Escherichia coli and Desulfovibrio piger were increased significantly in the vulnerable group. Carboxylates, like alpha-ketoglutaric acid and d-saccharic acid, and levels of vitamins had obvious differences in the faecal metabolites. There was a distinct decrease in the expression of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit 1 (eIF2α) and amine oxidase A (MAO-A) according to the proteomic results of the urine exosomes. Moreover, the compound annual growth rate of neurocognitive scores was notably decreased in vulnerable elders. CONCLUSIONS The multi-omics characteristics of disturbed glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism (bacteria), vitamin digestion and absorption and tricarboxylic acid cycle in vulnerable elders can serve as predictors of NCDs risk among the elderly of Macao. Intervention with them may be effective therapeutic approaches for NCDs, and the underlying mechanisms merit further exploration.

Abstract
Objective There are no valid assessment instruments assessing fertility intention among breast cancer survivors in mainland China. Therefore, this study aims to examine the psychometric properties of the Taiwanese version of the Fertility Intention Scale (FIS) among female patients with breast cancer of childbearing age in mainland China. Methods Two hundred and sixty-four female patients with breast cancer of childbearing age were recruited from two tertiary hospitals in Tianjin and Baoding, of which 32 patients completed the survey twice. Confirmatory factor analysis was adopted to assess construct validity. Correlations between the Reproductive Concerns After Cancer scale and FIS scores were calculated using Spearman correlation for convergent validity. The known-group validity of the FIS was verified using Mann–Whitney U test to compare the FIS scores between patients with or without the intention to conceive. Moreover, reliabilities were examined using Cronbach's alpha and intra-class correlation coefficient. Results Confirmatory factor analysis showed a good model fit to previous factor structures (χ2/df = 3.19, root mean square error of approximation = 0.091, comparative fitting index = 0.980, Tucker–Lewis index = 0.975), and no FIS item was dropped. The FIS scores were weak negatively correlated with the Reproductive Concerns After Cancer scale scores (r = –0.172, P < 0.01). The convergent validity of FIS was not satisfactory. Differences were noted between patients with or without the intention to conceive (50.62 ± 6.35 vs. 45.98 ± 7.19, P < 0.01). The FIS showed acceptable known-group validity. The internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.824) and the test-retest reliability (r = 0.863, P < 0.01) of the FIS were also acceptable. Conclusions Overall, the FIS provides a comprehensive evaluation of the fertility intention among patients with breast cancer of childbearing age in mainland China. However, the convergent validity was not satisfactory; thus, further revision and validation may be required in the future.

Abstract
Since of their adjustable pore structure and variety of metal sites, MOFs materials have infinite possibilities, but their low intrinsic activity hinders them from being employed in electrolytic water. The sulfurization and oxidation of MOFs has proven to be a feasible technique for producing highly active catalytic materials. Here, the MOFs are completely converted to hydroxide by treatment with alkaline solutions only. Electron microscopy demonstrates that hydroxides generated from various MOFs retain the complete profile of the precursor and contain a two-dimensional lamellar or mesoporous structure. Fe-MIL-88(A)-OH, a two-dimensional structural transformation product generated from Fe-MIL-88(A), demonstrates significant OER performance increase. At the same 300 mV overpotential, Fe-MIL-88(A)-OH delivers 83 times the current density of Fe-MIL-88(A) and 16 times that of commercial IrO2 (22.56 mA cm-2 vs. 0.27 mA cm-2 vs. 1.37 mA cm-2). The alkali treatment strategy proved to be a generally applicable treatment for MOFs, allowing the conversion of nickel- and cobalt-based MOFs to hydroxide with a significant boost in OER performance.

Abstract
A membrane of triolein-embedded cellulose acetate membrane (TECAM), as an integrative passive sampler, was applied to adsorb 28 polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from pure water and sea water in order to probe into the influence of concentration fluctuation and water matrix. The results demonstrated the temporal variations of PCBs concentrations in TECAM followed the first-order kinetics model. The periodic refreshment of solution and matrix effects of sea water significantly prolonged the time that PCBs reached equilibrium stage. The refreshment facilitated the uptake mass in TECAM. On the contrary, the matrix effects of sea water and dissolved organic matter (DOM) declined the PCBs absorption to TECAM. The average logKP values of PCBs in pure water were about 1.2 log unit higher than those in sea water in the experiments that the solution was not refreshed, while the difference of average logKP values narrowed to 0.3 log unit if the PCBs solutions were periodically refreshed. The correlation between logKP and logKOW values fitted the quadratic curve well, which was similar to semi-permeable membrane device (SPMD). The appropriate sampling times (t94%) ranged from 98.8 to 819 h (mean 500 h) for pure water with refreshment, much longer than those in sea water with refreshment (80.1~410 h, mean 189 h). The t94% values in the solution with high DOM content increased significantly, up to 409 h. Furthermore, comparing the two experiments that the spiked pure water and sea water solution were refreshed frequently, the estimated sampling rates (Rs) in pure water (0.154~2.06 L/day with a mean value of 0.605 L/day) were slightly lower than those in sea water (0.292~3.84 L/day with a mean value of 1.69 L/day). However, the Rs values in sea water with DOM declined sharply to 0.042 L/day. Therefore, concentration fluctuation, matrix effect, and DOM contents of sea water evidently posed significant influence on dynamic parameters of TECAM absorption, which would be screened and probed detailed in future.

Abstract
Alveolar macrophage is the predominant cell type in the lung and is thought to be the major target for anti-inflammatory therapy in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Aromatherapy using natural essential oils with anti-inflammatory effects for inhalable administration is a potential complementary and alternative therapy for COPD treatment. The Gardenia jasminoides flower is famous for its fragrance in East Asia and is used for treating colds and lung problems in folk medicine. Therefore, in the present study, flower essential oils from two main medicinal gardenia varieties (G. jasminoides J. Ellis and G. jasminoides f. longicarpa Z.W. Xie & M. Okada) were extracted by hydro-distillation, and their chemical components were analyzed by GC-MS. The anti-inflammatory effects of the two essential oils and their main ingredients were further studied on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced models in murine alveolar macrophages (MH-S). The results indicated that the chemical constituents of the two gardenia varieties were quite different. Alcohol accounted for 53.8% of the G. jasminoides essential oil, followed by terpenes (16.01%). Terpenes accounted for 34.32% of the G. jasminoides f. longicarpa essential oil, followed by alcohols (19.6%) and esters (13.85%). Both the two gardenia essential oils inhibited the LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO) release and reduced the production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in the MH-S cells. Linalool and α-farnesene dose-dependently reduced the NO release in the MH-S cells. Linalool and α-farnesene did not affect the PGE2 production but regulated the expression of TNF- α. In addition to linalool and α-farnesene, other components in the gardenia flower essential oils appeared to be able to act as anti-inflammatory agents and influence the PGE2 pathway.

Abstract
Rural traditional Chinese medicine hospitals bear responsibilities of providing efficient medical services for rural residents. Efficiency assessments have previously been conducted in single province. This study aimed to investigate the technical efficiency of rural traditional Chinese medicine hospitals across China from 2013 to 2018, with the application of super slack-based measure data envelopment analysis. In total, 1219 hospitals covering 28 provinces were included as sample hospitals. Overall, hospitals performed technically less efficiently but presented with an increasing trend. Redundancy and insufficiency existed in health input and output variables, respectively. Notably, optimizing input variables was found to make more substantial improvement in hospital efficiency. Provincial and regional disparities were also observed in hospital efficiency. In conclusion, rural traditional Chinese medicine hospitals have experienced slight improvement in efficiency during the study period, however, their efficiency was still in a relatively low level with ample room for improvement. Meanwhile, regional coordinated development should also be noticed in this process.

Abstract
Objective To explore the influence of parents on the medication adherence of their children. Study Design A cross-sectional online investigation. Methods A questionnaire with 41 questions was designed based on the health belief model (HBM) distributed and collected online in 28 cities around China through multi-stage stratified sampling. The reliability of the questionnaire was assessed with Cronbach's α coefficient and split-half reliability, and its validity was evaluated with exploratory factor analysis and content validity index. The structural equation model (SEM) was constructed to explore the relationship between the parents' health beliefs and their children's medication adherence. Subgroup analysis was conducted to study the differences between parents with different demographic characteristics (male and female, rural and urban). Results 573 questionnaires were included for analysis, with an effective rate of 62.97%. The Cronbach'α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.821 > 0.6, the split-half reliability was 0.651 > 0.6, the I-CVI of each dimension were >0.78, and the S-CVI/AVE (I-CVI average) was 0.95 > 0.9. The result of the questionnaire exploratory factor analysis met the standard. According to the SEM, self-efficacy (λ = 0.177), perceived susceptibility (λ = −0.244), and perceived severity (λ = 0.243) were direct influencing factors of children's medication adherence. In the subgroup analysis, the model established by each subgroup was consistent with the model established by the overall sample. The absolute values of females' perceived susceptibility, severity, and self-efficacy for their children's medication adherence path coefficients were higher than males'. Conclusion Parents' perceived severity and self-efficacy may positively impact on their children's medication adherence, while parents' susceptibility to children's medication non-adherence may negatively impact on children's medication adherence. Objective constraints, perceived barriers, and benefits may in directly impact on children's medication adherence. Women's health beliefs appear to have a more significant impact on their children's medication adherence than men's. It may be an effective strategy to increase their children's medication adherence by improving parents' health beliefs. Medical staff should explain medication adherence knowledge to the parents of children, and inform the children of the possible consequences of non-adherence with medication, to improve the subjective perception of parents on the severity of children's non-adherence with medication, and improve parents' self-efficacy in rational medication for children. In addition, attention should be paid to the mental health of the parents, and more social and psychological support.

Abstract
Background Understanding the intention of receiving COVID-19 vaccines is important to inform effective vaccination strategies. This study aimed to investigate such intention, identify the key influencing factors, and determine the most important intention predictors using a theoretically principled model. Methods An online, cross-sectional survey method was implemented in Macao in May 2021. People aged 18 years or above and residing in Macao for 12 months prior to the study were recruited through social media. Intention to receive COVID-19 vaccines and the main constructs of the protection motivation theory and the health belief model were the main measures encompassing threat appraisal, intrapersonal characteristics, cues to action, coping appraisal, past experiences and information seeking behavior. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression were used for data analysis. Results A total of 552 valid responses were received. Among the respondents, 79.5% aged between 25 and 54 years old, 59.4% were female, and 88% had a bachelor degree or above; 62.3% of the respondents indicated their intention to receive COVID-19 vaccination while 19.2% were hesitant and 18.5% did not have any intention. While 67.0% believed COVID-19 infection was life-threatening, only 19.0% thought they were at risk of getting infected. Control variables such as age, gender, education level, and having travel plans were significantly correlated with intention. Significant associations between intention with perceived severity, perceived susceptibility, maladaptive response reward, self-efficacy, response-efficacy, response cost, social attitude, social norm, past experience and information seeking behavior were identified (P < 0.05). The most important positive predictors of intention were “being able to make arrangement to receive the vaccine” (β = 0.333, P < 0.001), “a sense of social responsibility” (β = 0.326, P < 0.001), and “time off from work after vaccination” (β = 0.169, P < 0.001), whereas “concerns over vaccine safety” (β = − 0.124, P < 0.001) and “relying on online resources for vaccine information” (β = − 0.065, P < 0.05) were negative predictors. Perceived severity in terms of COVID-19 being a life threatening illness was not a predictor of intention. Conclusion This study reaffirmed that intention to receive COVID-19 vaccination is an ongoing concern in the combat of the pandemic. Multi-component strategies to enhance health literacy that supports well-informed decision-making, increase vaccination convenience, promote social responsibility, and provide time-off incentives are among the key considerations in designing and improve vaccination campaigns in Macao.

Abstract
WHAT IS KNOWN AND OBJECTIVE Aflibercept, a recombinant protein designed to suppress the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signalling pathway, has been used in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). We conducted the first meta-analysis to systematically review the efficacy and safety of aflibercept in mCRC. METHODS PubMed Central/Medline, Embase and cochrane library were systematically searched for randomized controlled trials and single-arm clinical trials on aflibercept plus chemotherapy for the treatment of mCRC through 9 September 2021. RESULTS Ten studies comprising 2049 patients met the inclusion criteria. The pooled estimate rates were 16.0% for 12mPFS, 64.4% for 12mOS, 32.5% for ORR, 83.5% for DCR, while the rates of III/IV AEs rate were 80.2% respectively. The pooled estimate rates were 16.8% for III/IV diarrhoea, 22.3% for III/IV hypertension, 29.5% for III/IV neutropenia, 7.3% for III/IV proteinuria and 8.6% for III/IV oral mucositis. CONCLUSIONS Analysis of data from randomized controlled trials(RCT) and single-arm clinical trials confirmed the good efficacy of aflibercept plus chemotherapy in mCRC, while the safety of the treatment is concerning.

Abstract
Background To explore the prevalence and inequality of cognitive impairment among older adults in Macau and the contributions of influencing factors to inequality in cognitive impairment. Methods The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) was used to measure the prevalence of cognitive impairment. Socioeconomic status scores were used to describe economic level of the subjects. The concentration index was applied to measure the inequality of cognitive impairment associated with socioeconomic status (SES) and decomposed into its influencing factors. Results The prevalence of cognitive impairment was 44.35% in Macau. The concentration index of cognitive impairment among the elderly was −0.165 (95% CI: −0.232 to −0.098), indicating that the prevalence of cognitive impairment was concentrated in households with poor SES. Older age, poor SES, long or short sleep duration, other marital status, poor appetite, no tea/coffee drinking, no religious belief, and depression contributed positively to the inequality of cognitive impairment. Among these factors, SES made the largest contribution to inequality, accounting for 76.74%. Conclusion In Macau, the prevalence of cognitive impairment among people aged 65 years and older is concentrated among those who are in poor economic conditions. Reducing the gap between the rich and the poor at the source, increasing educational level of low SES population and improving their access to healthcare services will help to improve the inequity of cognitive impairment.

Abstract
Study shows that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) plays a regulatory role in cardiovascular diseases, and the mechanism of rhabdomyosarcoma 2-associated transcript (RMST) in atherosclerosis (AS) is still unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the expression of RMST and its possible role in the occurrence of AS. RMST and miR-224-3p level in serum and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were determined by real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). In vitro atherosclerotic cell model was achieved by treating HUVECs with ox-LDL. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve assessed the diagnostic value of RMST in AS, and Pearson correlation coefficient estimated the correlation of RMST with carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV). Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were performed to evaluate the effect of RMST on cell viability and inflammatory response. The luciferase analysis was used to validate the relationship between RMST and miR-224-3p. The results showed that in serum and HUVECs, RMST levels were increased, while miR-224-3p level was decreased. ROC curve suggested that RMST had clinical diagnostic value for AS. Besides, CIMT and cfPWV were positively correlated with RMST levels, respectively. In HUVECs, RMST-knockdown notably improved the cell viability and inhibited the production of inflammatory factors. Moreover, miR-224-3p was the target of RMST. In conclusion, RMST has the potential to be a diagnostic marker for AS. RMST-knockdown contributes to the enhancement of cell viability and the inhibition of inflammatory response, which may provide new insights into the conquest of AS.

Abstract
Background The maldistributions of the health workforce showed great inconsistency when singly measured by population quantity or geographic area in China. Meanwhile, earlier studies mainly employed traditional econometric approaches to investigate determinants for the health workforce, which ignored spillover effects of influential factors on neighboring regions. Therefore, we aimed to analyze health workforce allocation in China from demographic and geographic perspectives simultaneously and then explore the spatial pattern and determinants for health workforce allocation taking account of the spillover effect. Methods The health resource density index (HRDI) equals the geometric mean of health resources per 1,000 persons and per square kilometer. First, the HRDI of licensed physicians (HRDI_P) and registered nurses (HRDI_N) was calculated for descriptive analysis. Then, global and local Moran's I indices were employed to explore the spatial features and aggregation clusters of the health workforce. Finally, four types of independent variables were selected: supportive resources (bed density and government health expenditure), healthcare need (proportion of the elderly population), socioeconomic factors (urbanization rate and GDP per capita), and sociocultural factors (education expenditure per pupil and park green area per capita), and then the spatial panel econometric model was used to assess direct associations and intra-region spillover effects between independent variables and HRDI_P and HRDI_N. Results Global Moran's I index of HRDI_P and HRDI_N increased from 0.2136 (P = 0.0070) to 0.2316 (P = 0.0050), and from 0.1645 (P = 0.0120) to 0.2022 (P = 0.0080), respectively. Local Moran's I suggested spatial aggregation clusters of HRDI_P and HRDI_N. For HRDI_P, bed density, government health expenditure, and GDP had significantly positive associations with local HRDI_P, while the proportion of the elderly population and education expenditure showed opposite spillover effects. More precisely, a 1% increase in the proportion of the elderly population would lead to a 0.4098% increase in HRDI_P of neighboring provinces, while a 1% increase in education expenditure leads to a 0.2688% decline in neighboring HRDI_P. For HRDI_N, the urbanization rate, bed density, and government health expenditure exerted significantly positive impacted local HRDI_N. In addition, the spillover effect was more evident in the urbanization rate, with a 1% increase in the urbanization rate relating to 0.9080% growth of HRDI_N of surrounding provinces. Negative spillover effects of education expenditure, government health expenditure, and elderly proportion were observed in neighboring HRDI_N. Conclusion There were substantial spatial disparities in health workforce distribution in China; moreover, the health workforce showed positive spatial agglomeration with a strengthening tendency in the last decade. In addition, supportive resources, healthcare needs, and socioeconomic and sociocultural factors would affect the health labor configuration not only in a given province but also in its nearby provinces.

Abstract
The clinical data of 47 patients [41 males, 6 females, aged (62±7) years] treated at the Department of Neurology of the Sixth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from October 2018 to October 2020 who were diagnosed with severe bilateral vertebral artery stenosis/occlusion through Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) were retrospectively collected, and the characteristics of the compensatory pathways of collateral circulation were determined. Results showed that there were 8 intracranial and extracranial compensatory pathways, with posterior communicating artery as the major type (21 cases) for intracranial ones and deep carotid artery as the major type (16 cases) for extracranial ones. As the establishment of the compensatory pathway is closely related to the lesion site, DSA assessment for patients with severe bilateral vertebral artery stenosis/occlusion is helpful for clinicians to make judgement on prognosis of patients and choose individualized treatment plans.

Abstract
The wheat seedlings of 6 days old were daily subjected to ultraviolet irradiation (irradiating for 5, 10, 20, 40, and 60 min/day, respectively), Polyethylene glycol 6000 (5, 10, 15, 20, 25% in 1/2 Hoagland solution, respectively), and salinity solution (10, 25, 50, 100, 200 mM in 1/2 Hoagland solution, respectively), while the control group (CK) was supplied only with the Hoagland solution. The wheatgrass was harvested regularly seven times and the total soluble polysaccharides, ascorbic acid, chlorophyll, total polyphenol, total triterpene, total flavonoid, and proanthocyanins content were tested. The antioxidant capacity was evaluated through 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthia-zoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging ability, and ferric ion reducing power. Technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) mathematical model was adopted to comprehensively assess the functional phytochemicals of the different treatments. The results showed that the accumulation patterns of phytochemicals under abiotic stress were complex and not always upregulated or downregulated. The antioxidant activity and functional phytochemicals content of wheatgrass were significantly affected by both the stress treatments and seedling age, while the latter affected the chemicals more efficiently. The top five highest functional phytochemicals were observed in the 200 mM NaCl treated group on the 21st and 27th day, 25% PEG treated group on the 24th day, 200 mM NaCl treated group on the 24th day, and the group of 40 min/day ultraviolet exposure on 27th day.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the collateral circulation compensation model in patients with favorable prognosis of basilar artery occlusion/severe stenosis treated with drugs or endovascular therapy. Methods: Clinical data of patients with basilar artery occlusion/severe stenosis and good clinical outcome were retrospectively collected in the Department of Neurology, Sixth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from January 2019 to January 2020. They were divided into intensive drug therapy group and combined endovascular therapy group. The number and ways of collateral compensation pathway described by digital substraction angiography (DSA) were analyzed, and the characteristics of the collateral compensation model were summarized. SPSS22.0 software was used for statistical analysis, and the constituent ratio (%) was used for statistical description of the enumeration data. Results: A total of 32 eligible patients were included, including 27 males and 5 females, with an average age 45-76 (59±10) years. The compensation model included posterior communicating artery-posterior cerebral artery (13 cases, 40.6%), posterior communicating artery-posterior cerebral artery-basilar artery (10 cases, 31.2%), cerebellar artery-anastomotic branches of superior cerebellar artery (8 cases, 25.0%), anterior choroid artery-anastomotic branches of posterior choroid artery (2 cases, 6.2%), collateral circulation not established (11 cases, 34.4%).In drug treatment group, collateral compensation was found in the majority (14/15), with mainly posterior communicating artery (10/14).Most patients in combined treatment group did not develop collateral compensation (10/17), anastomotic branches of PICA-SCA were the main routes (6/7). Conclusion: In patients with basilar artery occlusion/severe stenosis, favorable clinical outcome can be achieved in both groups of patients treated with intensive drug therapy or endovascular therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Overweight and obesity in children and adolescents has become a worldwide epidemic. There are several studies that have concentrated on the prevalence rate of children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities (ID), whereas data on such a population on the mainland of China remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence rate of overweight and obesity among school-aged children and adolescents with ID on China's mainland. METHODS This study employed a cross-sectional design to examine the body weight status of 1873 children and adolescents (ages 6-18 years old) with ID in 35 special education schools. Body mass index was calculated, and the concepts of overweight and obesity were defined according to the standard of the Working Group for Obesity in China. RESULTS Data indicated that 18.2% (95% CI: 16.5%-20.0%) of children and adolescents with ID were overweight and 14.4% (95% CI: 12.8%-16.0%) were obese. Boys with ID were more likely to be overweight than girls with ID (OR = 1.48[95% CI: 1.13-1.94], P < 0.05). Children and adolescents with Down syndrome or autism spectrum disorder had a trend to be classified as overweight (OR = 1.76[95% CI: 1.22-2.54], P < 0.05; OR = 1.57[95% CI: 1.17-2.09], P < 0.05, respectively) or obesity (OR = 1.82[95% CI: 1.23-2.69], P < 0.05; OR = 1.40 [95% CI: 1.02-1.93], P < 0.05, respectively) compared with those with ID without these conditions. Moreover, children and teenagers with ID living in urban areas had a predisposition to be overweight (OR = 2.16[95% CI: 1.14-4.09], P < 0.05) or obese (OR = 3.25[95% CI: 1.41-7.50], P < 0.05) relative to those who lived in rural areas. CONCLUSION Results indicated that in China, the prevalence rate of overweight and obesity among school-aged children and adolescents with ID was remarkably high. Therefore, future research should make every effort to focus on reducing and preventing overweight and obesity of this population in China.

Abstract
Purpose Although drinking and smoking have been associated with gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels, studies on the effects of smoking and drinking on GGT levels are scarce. The objective of this study was to assess the individual and combined effects of smoking, drinking on GGT levels in the Shaanxi province of Northwest China. Participants and Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted in a population that underwent health examination at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and included employees of enterprises or public institutions. The survey was used to collect the baseline characteristics, smoking status, and drinking status of the participants. This information was collected from January 2019 to December 2019. Data related to the physical examinations were exported using the hospital information system (HIS). A linear regression model was employed to explore the effects of smoking and drinking on GGT levels. The restricted cubic spline model was applied to assess the dose–response relationship between amount of smoking, alcohol consumption and GGT levels. Results A total of 10,177 participants were included in the study. Linear regression indicated that smoking (β=3.37, 95% CI: 2.57–4.17) and drinking (β=5.55 L, 95% CI: 4.40–6.71) individually, and collectively (β=9.30, 95% CI: 7.83–10.76) had a positive effect on GGT levels. The restricted cubic spline presented a linear dose–response relationship between the amount of daily smoking and GGT levels (P for non-linearity=0.148, P for overall association <0.001, OR=2.49, 95% CI: 1.27–4.90), and that between weekly alcohol consumption and GGT levels (P for non-linearity=0.231, P for overall association <0.001, OR=4.79, 95% CI: 1.72–13.32). In case of females, stratified analysis showed that in comparison to the reference group, only current drinkers had a significant effect on GGT levels (OR=3.37, 95% CI: 0.19–6.55). Conclusion Smoking and drinking have a dose-dependent and a synergistic effect on GGT levels. They should be controlled concurrently, especially among males.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) constitution contributes to predicating disease occurrence and pathological progress. In this study, we investigate the correlation between TCM constitution and neurocognitive function in elderly Macau individuals. METHODS A total of 313 older adults from elderly healthcare centers were recruited at random. The data of gender, age, education, sleeping hours, physical activities were collected, and the Geriatric Depression Scale, Hong Kong version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and categories of TCM constitution were administered. RESULTS Of the 313 elderly individuals enrolled in this study, 86 (27.48%) were of balanced constitution. Among the other categories of TCM constitution, the most was Yin-deficiency (23.32%), followed by 53 (16.93%) with Phlegm-dampness. The average neurocognitive score of all elderly individuals was 18.01 ± 6.25. After adjusting for all possible confounds, multiple linear regression analysis showed that Qi-depressed constitution and neurocognitive scores were negatively correlated (β = - 2.66, 95%CI - 4.99 ~ - 0.33), Meanwhile, Yin-deficient constitution and neurocognitive scores were negatively correlated (β = - 2.10, 95%CI - 3.73 ~ - 0.47). Compared with balanced constitution, Qi-depressed constitution mainly affected visual-spatial ability dimension (β = - 0.91, 95%CI - 1.54 ~ - 0.28) and naming dimension (β = - 0.64, 95%CI - 1.04 ~ - 0.25), Yin-deficient constitution mainly affected visual space dimension (β = - 0.53, 95%CI - 0.97 ~ - 0.08). CONCLUSION Qi-depressed and Yin-deficient constitutions are associated with and contributed to the decline of neurocognitive function in senior adults, especially visual-spatial ability and naming dimensions. Further investigations into how TCM constitutions interact with neurocognitive function are needed.

Abstract
Human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) associated with bone regeneration serve an important role in the treatment of periodontal disease. Long non-coding RNAs are involved in the osteogenesis of multiple stem cells and can act as a sponge of microRNAs (miRs). The present study aimed to investigate the interaction between Prader Willi/Angelman region RNA 6 (PWAR6) and miR-106a-5p, as well as their influences on the osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs. hPDLSCs were isolated and cultured in osteogenic medium (OM) or growth medium (GM) for 7 days prior to transfection with PWAR6 overexpression vector, short hairpin RNA PWAR6 or miR-106a-5p mimic. The expression levels of runt-related transcription factor 2, osteocalcin and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) were detected by western blotting and reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR), and the expression levels of PWAR6, miR-106a-5p and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were determined by RT-qPCR. ALP activity assays and Alizarin red staining were performed to detect osteogenesis and mineralization, respectively. Luciferase activities of wild-type and mutant PWAR6 and BMP2 were assessed by conducting a dual-luciferase reporter assay. The results indicated that PWAR6 expression was upregulated in OM-incubated hPDLSCs compared with GM-incubated hPDLSCs, and PWAR6 overexpression increased the osteogenic differentiation and mineralization of hPDLSCs compared with the corresponding control group. By contrast, miR-106a-5p expression was downregulated in OM-incubated hPDLSCs compared with GM-incubated hPDLSCs. PWAR6 acted as a sponge of miR-106a-5p and PWAR6 overexpression promoted the osteogenesis of miR-106a-5p mimic-transfected hPDLSCs. BMP2 was predicted as a target gene of miR-106a-5p. Collectively, the results indicated that PWAR6 displayed a positive influence on the osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs. The results of the present study demonstrated that the PWAR6/miR-106a-5p interaction network may serve as a potential regulatory mechanism underlying hPDLSCs osteogenesis.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to explore factors affecting behavioral intention of receiving periodic health examinations (hereafter, BIE) among people aged 60 and over in rural China, namely, Shandong Province, using the extended health belief model (EHBM). PATIENTS AND METHODS Participants were selected using stratified multi-stage random sampling. Three cities were selected based on economic level. Subsequently, three counties and three villages were selected from each sample city and county. Finally, 30 respondents were selected from each sample village. Face-to-face surveys were conducted using a structured questionnaire between March and September 2017. Multiple linear regression was conducted to investigate the association between BIE and eight dimensions of EHBM: perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived self-efficacy, cues to action, health knowledge, and social support. RESULTS Of the 509 rural respondents aged 60 years and older, the average score of behavioral intention was 4.43±0.80. Multivariate linear regression analysis demonstrated poor BIE among participants who were men, were current smoker, were current drinker, were aged 70 years or over, had lower social support, and perceived lower self-efficacy, less benefits, and more barriers. Among them, barriers were found to have the strongest association with BIE (B'=-0.556; p<0.001). Qualitative interviews revealed that reasons for not receiving periodic health examinations (PHE) included pain, cost, difficulty in finding a health care provider, time and scheduling, potential lack of trust in the physician, and value of the PHE. CONCLUSION This study highlighted the importance of psychological variables in the acceptance of PHE among the elderly in rural China and provided insights for further intervention designs targeting identified groups and performed by general practitioners. Addressing medical mistrust, strengthening, and enhancing one's social support network and health communication channels, such as bulletin boards, may serve to facilitate BIE.

Abstract
The present study was executed to analyze the functional phytochemicals of hulless barley grass grown under different intensities of ultraviolet stress. The wheat seedlings were imposed to 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 h ultraviolet radiation and harvested in different times at vegetative stage. Specifically, the contents of total polyphenols, total flavonoids, total triterpenes, total polysaccharides, proanthocyanidins, and chlorophyll were determined and antioxidants capacity was evaluated by OH• and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) scavenging ability. A mathematical model (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution, TOPSIS) was also employed for the comprehensive evaluation of functional components of hulless barley grass at different growth stages. The results showed that the UV stress could efficiently improve/preserve the contents of total polyphenols, total flavonoids, total triterpenes, total polysaccharides, proanthocyanidins, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and total chlorophyll, as well as the OH• and ABTS scavenging capacity. TOPSIS evaluation revealed that the highest phytochemical contents were yield on the 15th day under 1.0 h ultraviolet treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Career intention is closely related to the distribution of university graduates across sectors in pharmacy-related field. The aim of the study was to describe career intention and identify its influencing factors among final-year pharmacy undergraduate students in China. METHODS A questionnaire study on demographic characteristics, educational situation, family background, occupational value and career intention was conducted among final-year pharmacy undergraduate students at three universities in northwest China. Exploratory factor analysis was used to identify the constructs of occupational value. Multinominal logistic regression was adopted to analyse the factors influencing career intention. RESULTS Among the 275 student participants, 62.6% intended to work in public medical institutions (rural: 44.4%; urban: 18.2%), 26.5% aimed to work in the pharmaceutical industry, 6.5% wanted to work in other sectors in the pharmacy-related field, and 4.4% planned to work in other fields. Their gender, father's education level, monthly household income per capita, whose opinions were considered most during job selection, the self-gratification factor of occupational value, and employment guidance had significant impacts on students' career intentions. CONCLUSION In the Chinese background, the career intention of more than half of the undergraduate pharmacy students was to work in public medical institutions. The career intentions of the overall participants were mainly determined by their gender, family background as well as psychological self-gratification, and they could also be influenced by employment guidance.

Abstract
Background There has been great shortage of primary care physicians (PCPs) in China, especially in western areas. Job satisfaction plays a great role in retaining people. The aim of this study is to investigate the job satisfaction of PCPs and associated factors in 11 provinces of western China, thus providing necessary reference values for stabilizing the primary care workforce and improving the quality of primary care services. Method A sample of 2103 PCPs working in western China were surveyed using a stratified, multistage and random sampling method in 2011. The characteristics of participants were recorded by a structured questionnaire. A multilevel model (MLM) and quantile regression (QR) were applied to assess the association between job satisfaction and possible risk factors. Results Of the 2103 doctors surveyed, the overall satisfaction score was 3.26 ± 0.68 (from 1 to 5). MLM indicated that age group, income satisfaction, unit policy approval, personal planning, career attitude, work value and patient recognition were positively correlated with job satisfaction, while turnover intention was negatively correlated with job satisfaction. QR were not completely consistent with MLM and further explored the differences in different job satisfaction score percentiles on each domains. Conclusion This study showed that the job satisfaction of PCPs in western China was not high. The MLM and QR discussed were not entirely consistent, the latter one provided more information and robust results. Measures should be taken in streamlining administration and institute decentralization, creating more opportunities for additional training, raising PCPs’ income, improving the social status of doctors and improving the relationship between doctors and patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aims to check the effect of hirudin on serum matrix metalloproteinase-9 (SMMP9) in patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI). METHODS For acquisition of obtained data of included studies, we will undertake comprehensive search from the following electronic databases: MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, WANGFANG database, VIP database, CBM database, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure from their inceptions to the March 31, 2020. No restrictions of language and publication status will be applied to all database sources. Two investigators will independently undertake study selection, data extraction, and study quality. Any different opinions between 2 investigators will be solved by a third investigator through consultation. Study quality will be assessed using Cochrane risk of bias tool, and level of evidence for outcome results will be identified using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation method. We will use RevMan 5.3 software for statistical analysis. RESULTS From this study, we will evaluate the effect of hirudin on SMMP9 in patients with ACI. CONCLUSION The findings of this study will provide evidence to ensure the effect of hirudin on SMMP9 in patients with ACI.

Abstract
Background A novel coronavirus was identified in December, 2019 in Wuhan, China, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) played an active role in combating the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) caused by this fast-spreading virus COVID-19. Thus, we aimed to explore TCM characteristics of clinical efficacy to NCP, as well as to optimize Qingfei Paidu decoction (QFPDD) and the recommended formulas to NCP by National Health Commission (NHC). Methods Chinese medical sciences theory and clinical application of TCM were analyzed. A total of 54 NCP patients were observed in a hospital from Wuhan, whose clinical characteristics and utilization of Chinese Medicines (CMs) were described. Paired t test was used to measure the change of patients' hemogram during hospitalization period, indicating the effect of CMs. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to explore the factors affecting the length of hospital stay. Network pharmacology analysis was applied to figure out the performance of NHC-recommended formulas of five disease stages at levels of compounds, targets and pathways. Result The average length of hospital stay was 8.96 days. Patients over 45 stayed 9.79 days in hospital in average, longer than 7.64 days of patients under 45. Comparing the hemograms between admission and discharge of hospital, the number of leukocytes, neutrophil, lymphocyte and platelet increased, while the numbers of erythrocytes, hemoglobin concentration and hematocrit decreased. According to the standard coefficients of regression, the factor affecting the length of stay for the most was CMs in category of invigorating spleen and removing dampness (ISRD), followed by administrating CMs, male, and cough. Thirty-two CMs were screened after deleting duplication from QFPDD and NHC-recommended formulas. Compound quercetin, luteolin, kaempferol, acacetin etc., were all involved in the treatment of various disease stages on the compound level both in generality and individuality. Conclusion TCM has a systemic theoretical understanding on the pathological evolution and a positive clinical efficacy on NCP. The CMs of ISRD improved patients' recovery, suggesting the importance of regulating intestinal function and keeping microenvironmental balance in TCM treatment of NCP. The active compounds from QFPDD and NHC-recommended formulas contribute to recovery of varied disease progresses during TCM treating NCP.

Abstract
Vertical distributions of ambient aerosols and their corresponding optical properties are crucial to the assessment of aerosol radiative effects. Traditionally, ambient aerosol phase function is assumed as a constant of input parameter in the retrieval of the vertical distribution of aerosol optical characteristics from remote sensing measurements (e.g. lidar or camera-laser based instruments). In this work, sensitivity studies revealed that using constant aerosol phase function assumptions in the algorithm would cause large uncertainties. Therefore, an improved retrieval method was established to simultaneously measure ambient aerosol scattering phase functions and aerosol scattering function profiles with a modified charge-coupled device-laser aerosol detection system (CLADS), which are then combined to yield vertical profiles of aerosol extinction coefficients. This method was applied and evaluated in a comprehensive field campaign in the North China Plain during January 2016. The algorithm showed robust performance and was able to capture temporal variations in ambient aerosol scattering phase functions and aerosol scattering function profiles. Aerosol extinction coefficients derived with simultaneously measured aerosol phase functions agreed well with in-situ measurements, indicating that uncertainties in the retrieval of aerosol extinction vertical profiles have been significantly reduced by using the proposed method with the modified CLADS. The advantage of this modified CLADS is that it can accomplish these aerosol measurements independent of other supplementary instruments. Benefiting from its low cost and high spatial resolution (∼1 m on average) in the boundary layer, this measurement system can play an important role in the research of aerosol vertical distributions and its impacts on environmental and climatic studies.
