Abstract
The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in human health, affecting metabolic, immune, and cognitive functions. While the impact of various dietary components on the microbiome is well-studied, the effect of legumes remains less explored. This review examines the influence of legume consumption on gut microbiome composition, diversity, and metabolite production, based on 10 human and 21 animal studies. Human studies showed mixed results, with some showing increased microbial diversity and others finding no significant changes. However, legume consumption was linked to increases in beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacterium and Faecalibacterium. Animal studies generally indicated enhanced microbial diversity and composition changes, though these varied by legume type and the host's health. Some studies highlighted legume-induced shifts in bacteria associated with better metabolic health. Overall, the review emphasizes the complexity of legume-microbiome interactions and the need for standardized methodologies and longitudinal studies. While legumes have the potential to positively affect the gut microbiome, the effects are nuanced and depend on context. Future research should investigate the long-term impacts of legume consumption on microbiome stability and its broader health implications, particularly for disease prevention and dietary strategies.

Abstract
Information on malnutrition for school-age children and adolescents (5-19 years) in South Asia is fragmented and inconsistent, which limits the prioritization of nutrition policies, programmes and research for this age group. This scoping review aimed to synthesize existing evidence on the burden of malnutrition for children and adolescents aged 5-19 years in South Asia, and on interventions to improve their nutritional status. Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Medline and Google Scholar were systematically searched for articles published between January 2016 and November 2022. Eligible studies reported the prevalence of undernutrition, overweight/obesity, micronutrient deficiencies and unhealthy dietary intakes, and interventions that aimed to address these in South Asia. In total, 296 articles met our inclusion criteria. Evidence revealed widespread, yet heterogeneous, prevalence of undernutrition among South Asian children and adolescents: thinness (1.9%-88.8%), wasting (3%-48%), underweight (9.5%-84.4%) and stunting (3.7%-71.7%). A triple burden of malnutrition was evident: the prevalence of overweight and obesity ranged from 0.2% to 73% and 0% to 38% (with rapidly rising trends), respectively, alongside persistent micronutrient deficiencies. Diets often failed to meet nutritional requirements and high levels of fast-food consumption were reported. Education, fortification, supplementation and school feeding programmes demonstrated beneficial effects on nutritional status. Comprehensive and regular monitoring of all forms of malnutrition among children and adolescents, across all countries in South Asia is required. Further, more large-scale intervention research is needed to ensure policy and programmes effectively target and address malnutrition among children and adolescents in South Asia.

Abstract
Stunting is a chronic nutritional deficiency due to various adverse cross-sectoral environmental conditions, including food intake. This influences the linear growth and development of children's brains and their cognitive function. Providing interventions to meet stunted children's protein needs tends to prevent the further abnormal development of cognitive functions. High-protein foods are supplied from various edible local commodities in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to demonstrate the importance of feeding stunted children with high-protein diets and provide insight that local food ingredients in the country have growth-promoting potential. Through Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, and Nature, 107 articles were obtained with keywords related to stunting, such as protein intake, catch-up growth + stunting, and adverse effect + catch-up growth. The preferred citations randomized-controlled trials and systematic reviews relevant to the study question were compiled using Mendeley version 1.19.8. Based on the literature review results, stunting is hereditary and affects the quality of generations. The adequacy of protein needs is closely related to growth and development, hence, foods containing a high amount of the nutrient facilitate catch-up growth in stunted children. This conclusion is expected to provide information to policymakers and health agencies in the country concerning the education related to high nutritional local food, which can be reached by the community. Interventions with high-protein-containing local foods ought to be tailored to dietary needs and accompanied by monitoring for the presence or absence of unreasonable weight gain to prevent overweight or obesity.

Abstract
Background: Growth failure in infants born preterm is a significant issue, increasing the risk of poorer neurodevelopmental outcomes and metabolic syndrome later in life. During the first 1000 days of life biological systems mature rapidly involving developmental programming, cellular senescence, and metabolic maturation, regulating normal growth and development. However, little is known about metabolic maturation in infants born preterm and the relationship with growth. Objective: To examine the available evidence on urinary markers of metabolic maturation and their relationship with growth in infants born preterm. Eligibility criteria: Studies including in this scoping review using qualitative or quantitative methods to describe urinary markers of metabolic maturation and the relationship with growth in infants born preterm. Results: After a screening process 15 titles were included in this review, from 1998-2021 drawing from China (n = 1), Italy (n = 3), Germany (n = 3), Greece (n = 1), Japan (n = 2), Norway (n = 1), Portugal (n = 1), Spain (n = 2) and USA (n = 1). The included studies examined urinary metabolites in 1131 infants. A content analysis identified 4 overarching themes relating to; (i) metabolic maturation relative to gestational age, (ii) metabolic signature and changes in urinary metabolites over time, (iii) nutrition and (iv) growth. Conclusion: The results of this scoping review suggest there are considerable gaps in our knowledge relating to factors associated with metabolic instability, what constitutes normal maturation of preterm infants, and how the development of reference phenome age z scores for metabolites of interest could improve nutritional and growth outcomes.

Abstract
The gut microbiome plays an integral role in health and disease, and diet is a major driver of its composition, diversity, and functional capacity. Given the dynamic development of the gut microbiome in infants and children, it is critical to address two major questions: (a) Can diet modify the composition, diversity, or function of the gut microbiome, and (b) will such modification affect functional/clinical outcomes including immune function, cognitive development, and overall health? We synthesize the evidence on the effect of nutritional interventions on the gut microbiome in infants and children across 26 studies. Findings indicate the need to study older children, assess the whole intestinal tract, and harmonize methods and interpretation of findings, which are critical for informing meaningful clinical and public health practice. These findings are relevant for precision health, may help identify windows of opportunity for intervention, and may inform the design and delivery of such interventions. Abstract
Platelets play a crucial role in hemostasis, tissue regeneration and host defense. Based on these settings, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and its derivatives are therapeutically used to promote wound healing in several scenarios. This review summarizes the biological mechanisms underlying the most traditional as well as innovative applications of PRP in wound healing. These mechanisms involve the combined action of platelet-derived growth factors and cytokines, together with the role of plasma-derived fibrillar, antioxidant and homeostatic factors. In addition, regenerative treatments with PRP consist of personalized and non-standardized methods. Thus, the quality of PRP varies depending on endogenous factors (e.g., age; gender; concomitant medication; disease-associated systemic factors; nutrition) and exogenous factors (anticoagulants and cellular composition). This review also analyses whether these factors affect the biological mechanisms of PRP in wound healing applications.
