Abstract
INTRODUCTION Combined stent-retriever/large-bore distal aspiration catheter (LB-DAC) thrombectomy was recently introduced to treat large-vessel occlusion; however, it is unclear whether larger inner diameters improve outcomes. We compared angiographic and clinical outcomes in patients with occlusions of the M1 segment of the middle cerebral artery treated with mechanical thrombectomy using extra-LB-DAC versus LB-DAC in combination with stent-retrievers. METHODS We analyzed consecutive patients with M1 occlusion included in the ROSSETTI registry treated with non-balloon guide catheter combined LB-DAC/stent-retriever thrombectomy between June 2019 and April 2022. We compared demographics, baseline clinical variables, procedural variables, angiographic outcomes, and clinical outcomes [National Institute of Health Stroke Scale score at 24 h (24h-NIHSS) and modified Rankin scale score at 3 months] between patients treated with extra-LB-DAC (Sofia Plus, MIVI Q6, Catalyst7; inner diameter, 0.068″-0.070″) versus LB-DAC (Sofia 5F, MIVI Q5, Catalyst 6; inner diameter, 0.055″-0.064″). Primary outcome was the first-pass effect (FPE) rate, defined as near-complete/complete reperfusion (mTICI 2c-3) after a single pass of the device. RESULTS We included 324 patients (extra-LB-DAC, 185, 57.1% patients). Demographics, clinical data, and clinical outcomes were similar between the two groups; however, there was a trend towards improvement in National Institute of Health Stroke Scale score at 24 h (24h-NIHSS) in the cohort treated with extra-LB-DAC 9 points (IQR 4;16 points) vs. 12 points (IQR 4;18 points, P = 0.083). Patients treated with extra-LB-DAC had higher FPE rate (47% vs. 30.9%; P = 0.003) and higher modified FPE (mTICI ≥ 2b after a single pass) rate (65.9% vs 46.8%; P = 0.001). The use of extra-LB-DAC was an independent factor in predicting FPE (odds ratio 1.982, 95% confidence interval 1.250-3.143, P = 0.004). CONCLUSION Our results suggest that in combined LB-DAC/stent-retriever thrombectomy, a larger aspiration catheter inner diameter is associated with higher rates of FPE and mFPE.

Abstract
Low protein diets supplied during the growing period of pigs can diminish their growth rate and increase the intramuscular fat (IMF) content which affects the sensorial and technological characteristics of the products. In the present study, the effects of a low protein diet supplied during the growing period of Duroc × Iberian crossbred pigs on several phenotypic traits and on liver and longissimus dorsi transcriptome were analysed at the beginning (EARLY) and at the end (LATE) of the growing period. Two experimental groups of 10 crossbred pigs each were fed two isocaloric diets with different protein content: control diet (C) with 16.5% protein and 0.8% lysine and low protein diet (LP) with 11% CP and 0.6% lysine. Animals fed LP diet have a slower growth than those fed C diet, but no effect of LP diet was observed on the IMF content. The transcriptomes of liver and longissimus dorsi were characterised and quantified through RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq). In liver, 134 and 480 differentially expressed annotated genes and new isoforms (DEGs) were detected between C and LP diets for EARLY and LATE animals, respectively. In muscle, 128 and 68 DEGs were detected at EARLY and LATE time-points. Functional interpretation revealed that LP diet may inhibit immune system molecules and processes in both tissues at EARLY stage. In liver, the DEGs mainly affect lipid and cholesterol metabolic processes, while in muscle, the expression changes would be involved in growth, development and meat quality. In conclusion, a low protein diet supplied during the growing period seems to slow down the growth of Duroc × Iberian crossbred pigs, but it also seems to affect multiple biological processes that could compromise the immune system of Duroc × Iberian crossbred pigs. Therefore, these results question the adequacy of this type of regime in Duroc × Iberian pigs that must be studied in greater depth before being implemented.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Young oncologists are at particular risk of professional burnout, and this could have a significant impact on their health and care of their patients. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has forced rapid changes in professionals' jobs and training, with the consequent physical and psychological effects. We aimed to characterize burnout levels and determinants in young oncologists, and the effects of the pandemic on their training and health. METHODS Two online surveys were conducted among oncology residents and young oncology specialists in Spain. The first addressed professional burnout and its determinants before the COVID-19 pandemic, while the second analyzed the impact of the pandemic on health care organization, training, and physical and psychological health in the same population. RESULTS In total, 243 respondents completed the first survey, and 263 the second; 25.1% reported significant levels of professional burnout. Burnout was more common among medical oncology residents (28.2%), mainly in their second year of training. It was significantly associated with a poor work-life balance, inadequate vacation time, and the burnout score. Nearly three-quarters of respondents (72%) were reassigned to COVID-19 care and 84.3% of residents missed part of their training rotations. Overall, 17.2% of this population reported that they had contracted COVID-19, 37.3% had scores indicating anxiety, and 30.4% moderate to severe depression. Almost a quarter of young oncologists (23.3%) had doubts about their medical vocation. CONCLUSIONS Burnout affects a considerable number of young oncologists. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on causes of burnout, making it even more necessary to periodically monitor it to define appropriate detection and prevention strategies.

Abstract
Invasive species are a major cause of biodiversity loss worldwide, but their impact on communities and the mechanisms driving those impacts are varied and not well understood. This study employs functional diversity metrics and guilds-suites of species with similar traits-to assess the influence of an invasive tree (Tamarix spp.) on riparian plant communities in the southwestern United States. We asked: (1) What traits define riparian plant guilds in this system? (2) How do the abundances of guilds vary along gradients of Tamarix cover and abiotic conditions? (3) How does the functional diversity of the plant community respond to the gradients of Tamarix cover and abiotic conditions? We found nine distinct guilds primarily defined by reproductive strategy, as well as growth form, height, seed weight, specific leaf area, drought and anaerobic tolerance. Guild abundance varied along a covarying gradient of local and regional environmental factors and Tamarix cover. Guilds relying on sexual reproduction, in particular, those producing many light seeds over a long period of time were more strongly associated with drier sites and higher Tamarix cover. Tamarix itself appeared to facilitate more shade-tolerant species with higher specific leaf areas than would be expected in resource-poor environments. Additionally, we found a high degree of specialization (low functional diversity) in the wettest, most flood-prone, lowest Tamarix cover sites as well as in the driest, most stable, highest Tamarix cover sites. These guilds can be used to anticipate plant community response to restoration efforts and in selecting appropriate species for revegetation.

Abstract
The traditional production of the Iberian breed pig involves a long production cycle. It might be shortened by using Iberian pigs crossed with Duroc and by reducing the growing phase, but the age-related changes on productive performance and carcass quality should be addressed. Thus, productive performance, live measurements and carcass and primal cut traits were evaluated on Iberian × Duroc 50:50 crossed pigs according to animal age at the beginning of the free-range finishing phase (Montanera): 10, 12 and 14 months old (IBxD10 (n = 15), IBxD12 (n = 17) and IBxD14 (n = 18) animal batches, respectively) and gender (immunologically castrated female -consisted of the Improvac® vaccination- and surgically castrated males). During the growing period, animals were fed with restrictions; 1.49, 1.29 and 1.20 ± 0.023 (mean ± SEM) kg/day of commercial feeds to start Montanera with similar BW; 103.9, 102.9 and 102.1 ± 0.22 kg, for IBxD10, IBxD12 and IBxD14, respectively. IBxD14 animals yielded the highest average daily gain (ADG) and BW after Montanera, as well as larger rump height and croup width. In contrast, these animals had the lowest carcass yield. Although animals from IBxD10 yielded hams of inferior size, this could be of interest to the sector, as there is a certain segment of the market that demands hams of smaller size and, generally, this is difficult to obtain with the traditional Montanera production system. The gender had no major effects on performance and carcass and primal cut traits, so both immunologically castrated female and surgically castrated males are suitable for finishing in Montanera.

Abstract
Osteoporosis is a highly prevalent systemic skeletal disorder leading to decreased bone strength and increased susceptibility to fragility fracture. The global burden of osteoporosis negatively impacts health systems around the world, and the estimation of millions of individuals at high risk for fracture in 2010 will double by the year 2040. There are many techniques to evaluate bone mineral density, but the preferred method in clinical practice is dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). This method, despite offering multiple advantages, can lead us to a wrong diagnosis if we do not take into account certain clinical and technical considerations. The objective of this review is to analyze the different aspects that we must consider when, as clinicians, we have to evaluate a densitometric report. These aspects are presented as technical factors influencing DXA results and patients' conditions limiting DXA interpretation.

Abstract
During embryo development the embryonic genome activation (EGA) is one of the most important events and in bovine embryos it occurs at the 8- to 16-cell stage. Invitro embryo production increases the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which leads to the low quality of the produced blastocysts, possibly by affecting EGA. Nobiletin is an antioxidant that affects cell cycle regulation (Huang et al. 2016 Evid. Based. Complement. Alternat. Med. 2016, 2918796, https://doi.org/10.1155/2016/2918796). Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the effect of nobiletin supplementation, in two key periods of early embryo development, on blastocyst yield and expression of selected genes of the ERK1/2 pathway and oxidative stress on produced embryos. Invitro zygotes were cultured in synthetic oviductal fluid (SOF) with 5% fetal calf serum (control, C); C with 5 or 10µM nobiletin (MedChemExpress) (N5, N10); or C with 0.03% dimethyl sulfoxide (CDMSO; vehicle for nobiletin dilution) during the minor (21–54h post-insemination (hpi): 2- to 8-cell; MNEGA; 12 replicates) or major (54–96 hpi: 8- to 16-cell; MJEGA; 10 replicates) phase of EGA. The speed of development was considered and embryos that reached ≥8 cells at 54 hpi from MNEGA phase and ≥16 cells at 96 hpi from MJEGA phase, were selected and further cultured in control medium until Day 7. Embryos at ≥8 cell (MNEGA), ≥16 cell (MJEGA) stage, and Day 7 blastocysts from both periods were snap-frozen in liquid N2 for gene expression analysis (3 pools of 10 embryos/treatment). The expression of genes related to ERK1/2 pathway (H3–3B, H3–3A, NFE2L2) and oxidative stress (GPX1) were measured by quantitative PCR; H2AFZ and ACTB were used as housekeeping genes. Statistical analysis was assessed by one-way ANOVA. At 54 hpi, irrespective of nobiletin supplementation, no differences were found in the proportion of embryos that reached the 8-cell stage between groups in both phases (≈60%). At 96 hpi, nobiletin during MJEGA showed a higher proportion of embryos reaching the 16-cell stage than control groups (≈70% vs. ≈60%, respectively; P<0.001). Blastocyst yield for MNEGA and MJEGA was higher (P<0.001) for N5 (40.0±0.8% and 46.7±0.8%) and N10 (41.0±0.9% and 54.5±1.1%) compared with C (32.0±0.6% and 38.4±1.1%) and CDMSO (31.2±0.4% and 35.8±1.0%) groups, while N10 was higher (P<0.05) compared to N5 group in MJEGA. The expression of H3–3B and H3–3A were higher (P<0.05) in 8-cell embryos from N5 and N10 groups during MNEGA; while in 16-cell embryos, H3–3B and NFE2L2 were higher (P<0.05) only in the N10 group compared with both controls during MJEGA. GPX1 was upregulated in nobiletin-supplemented groups from both phases (8- and 16-cell embryos and blastocysts) compared with controls (P<0.05). In conclusion, nobiletin supplementation during minor or major EGA has a positive effect in pre-implantation embryo development and modifies the transcription of cell cycle and oxidative stress genes in early embryos. Abstract
A total of 80 free-range Iberian pigs reared with acorns and grass in eight different free-range systems (n = 10) in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula were used to determine the relationship between fatty acid, tocopherol, and neophytadiene subcutaneous fat composition. The pigs were fed extensively for 79.1 ± 9.5 d from 110.9 ± 11.9 kg live weight at the beginning of the final fattening phase to 175.0 ± 15.9 kg slaughtered weight. Quercus suber and Quercus rotundifolia acorns were characterised by a high content of C18:1n-9 (58.3 and 63.1%, respectively) and γ-tocopherol [43.7 and 43.0 mg kg−1 dry matter (DM), respectively], while grass exhibited a high content of C18:3n-3 (42.5%), α-tocopherol (366.5 mg kg−1 DM) and neophytadiene (136.2 relative area units). The C18:1n-9 (54.4%–57.7%) and γ-tocopherol (2.7–4.1 mg kg−1 DM) contents in subcutaneous fat from Iberian pigs differed (p < 0.001) between the free-range systems studied. Pasture intake had a significant effect (p < 0.01) on subcutaneous fat content of C18:3n-3 (0.5%–0.8%), α-tocopherol (7.8–13.1 mg kg−1 DM) and neophytadiene (2.6–6.3 relative area units). However, the results demonstrated no correlations between accumulated levels of these compounds throughout the free-range period. In conclusion, the absence of correlations corroborated the heterogeneity of extensive rearing systems, with variations between years and geographical areas where the Iberian pigs were reared.

Abstract
AIM Low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) is common after low anterior resection. Our aim was to evaluate the prevalence and 'bother' (subjective, symptom-associated distress) of major LARS after 1 and 2 years, identify possible risk factors and relate the bowel function to a reference population. METHOD The QoLiRECT (Quality of Life in RECTal cancer) study is a Scandinavian prospective multicentre study including 1248 patients with rectal cancer, of whom 552 had an anterior resection. Patient questionnaires were distributed at diagnosis and after 1, 2 and 5 years. Data from the baseline and at 1- and 2-year follow-up were included in this study. RESULTS The LARS score was calculated for 309 patients at 1 year and 334 patients at 2 years. Prevalence was assessed by a generalized linear mixed effects model. Major LARS was found in 63% at 1 year and 56% at 2 years. Bother was evident in 55% at 1 year, decreasing to 46% at 2 years. Major LARS was most common among younger women (69%). Among younger patients, only marginal improvement was seen over time (63-59%), for older patients there was more improvement (62-52%). In the reference population, the highest prevalence of major LARS-like symptoms was noted in older women (12%). Preoperative radiotherapy, defunctioning stoma and tumour height were found to be associated with major LARS. CONCLUSION Major LARS is common and possibly persistent over time. Younger patients, especially women, are more affected, and perhaps these patients should be prioritized for early stoma closure to improve the chance of a more normal bowel function.

Abstract
Objective To provide guidance for the management of RAS wild-type (wt) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in daily practice. Methods Nominal group and Delphi techniques were used. A steering committee of seven experts analyzed the current management of RAS wt mCRC, through which they identified controversies, critically analyzed the available evidence, and formulated several guiding statements for clinicians. Subsequently, a group of 30 experts (the expert panel) was selected to test agreement with the statements, through two Delphi rounds. The following response categories were established in both rounds: 1 = totally agree, 2 = basically agree, 3 = basically disagree, 4 = totally disagree. Agreement was defined if ≥ 75% of answers were in categories 1 and 2 (consensus with the agreement) or 3 and 4 (consensus with the disagreement). Results Overall, 71 statements were proposed, which incorporated the following areas: (1) overarching principles; (2) tumor location; (3) triplets; (4) maintenance; (5) second-line and beyond treatments; (6) Rechallenge and liquid biopsy. After the two Delphi rounds, only six statements maintained a lack of clear consensus. Conclusions This document aims to describe the expert’s attitude when dealing with several common clinical questions regarding patients with RAS wt mCRC. Abstract
AIM Patients with rectal cancer often experience sexual dysfunction after treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate sexual function in a prospective cohort of patients regardless of treatment and tumour stage and explore what factors might affect sexual activity 1 year after diagnosis. METHOD The QoLiRECT study (Quality of Life in RECTal cancer) is a prospective study on the health-related quality of life in patients with rectal cancer in Denmark and Sweden. Questionnaires were completed at diagnosis and 1 year. Clinical data were retrieved from national quality registries. RESULTS Questionnaire data were available from 1085 patients at diagnosis and 920 patients at 1 year. Median age was 69 years (range 25-100). At diagnosis, 29% of the women and 41% of the men were sexually active, which was lower than an age-matched reference population. This was further reduced to 25% and 34% at 1 year. Risk factors for sexual inactivity were absence of sexual activity prior to the diagnosis and the presence of a stoma. Women experienced reduced lubrication and more dyspareunia at 1 year compared with the time of diagnosis. In men, erectile dysfunction increased from 46% to 55% at 1 year. CONCLUSION Sexual activity in patients with rectal cancer is lower at diagnosis compared with the population norm and is further reduced at 1 year. The presence of a stoma contributed to reduced sexual activity after operation. Sexual dysfunction was difficult to evaluate due to low sexual activity in the cohort. In men, erectile dysfunction is common.

Abstract
The adipogenic nature of the Iberian pig defines many quality attributes of its fresh meat and dry-cured products. The distinct varieties of Iberian pig exhibit great variability in the genetic parameters for fat deposition and composition in muscle. The aim of this work is to identify common and distinct genomic regions related to fatty acid composition in Retinto, Torbiscal, and Entrepelado Iberian varieties and their reciprocal crosses through a diallelic experiment. In this study, we performed GWAS using a high density SNP array on 382 pigs with the multimarker regression Bayes B method implemented in GenSel. A number of genomic regions showed strong associations with the percentage of saturated and unsaturated fatty acid in intramuscular fat. In particular, five regions with Bayes Factor >100 (SSC2 and SSC7) or >50 (SSC2 and SSC12) explained an important fraction of the genetic variance for miristic, palmitoleic, monounsaturated (>14%), oleic (>10%) and polyunsaturated (>5%) fatty acids. Six genes (RXRB, PSMB8, CHGA, ACACA, PLIN4, PLIN5) located in these regions have been investigated in relation to intramuscular composition variability in Iberian pigs, with two SNPs at the RXRB gene giving the most consistent results on oleic and monounsaturated fatty acid content.

Abstract
Objectives To assess HIV-1 post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) non-completion at day 28, comparing ritonavir-boosted lopinavir versus cobicistat-boosted elvitegravir as a single-tablet regimen (STR), using tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine with both of these therapies. Methods A prospective, open, randomized clinical trial was performed. Individuals attending the emergency room due to potential sexual exposure to HIV and who met criteria for PEP were randomized 1:3 into two groups receiving either 400/100 mg of lopinavir/ritonavir (n = 38) or 150/150 mg of elvitegravir/cobicistat (n = 119), with both groups also receiving 245/200 mg of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine. Five follow-up visits were scheduled at days 1, 10, 28, 90 and 180. The primary endpoint was PEP non-completion at day 28. Secondary endpoints were adherence, adverse effects and rate of seroconversions. Clinical trials.gov number: NCT08431173. Results Median age was 32 years and 95% were males. PEP non-completion at day 28 was 36% (n = 57), with a trend to be higher in the lopinavir/ritonavir arm [lopinavir/ritonavir 47% (n = 18) versus elvitegravir/cobicistat 33% (n = 39), P = 0.10]. We performed a modified ITT analysis including only those patients who attended on day 1. PEP non-completion in this subgroup was higher in the lopinavir/ritonavir arm than in the elvitegravir/cobicistat arm (33% versus 15%, respectively, P = 0.04). Poor adherence was significantly higher in the lopinavir/ritonavir arm versus the elvitegravir/cobicistat arm (47% versus 9%, respectively, P < 0.0001). Adverse events were reported by 73 patients (59%), and were significantly more common in the lopinavir/ritonavir arm (90% versus 49%, P = 0.0001). A seroconversion was observed in the elvitegravir/cobicistat arm in a patient with multiple exposures before and after PEP. Conclusions A higher PEP non-completion, poor adherence and adverse events were observed in patients allocated to the lopinavir/ritonavir arm, suggesting that STR elvitegravir/cobicistat is a well-tolerated antiretroviral for PEP.

Abstract
The philosopher Javier Sádaba (Portugalete, 1940) is the author of an extensive work in the field of bioethics. It is a procedural bioethics (based on the agreement between the participants, not on absolute truths), casuistry (is based on the analysis of specific problem cases), social (evaluates the context in decision-making), gradual (considers other species, is not "narcissistically human"), and secular (autonomous with respect to religion). Sádaba has also opted for an affirmative bioethics, which seeks to improve the living conditions of humans (in medicine, the quality of life). This is difficult to construct because, for the philosopher, the duty and to establish limits are infinitely easier to elaborate than the specific good and to pursue happiness. In its application to medicine, Sádaba's bioethics focuses on avoiding unnecessary suffering, because suffering does not contribute anything positive and hinders happiness. Likewise, he strives to extract the best of science and open the doors to everything that can bring improvements for the human being, but without ceasing to mention responsibility, because man is capable of the best and the worst. From this perspective, the author is faced with the bioethical issues, leaving the greatest possible margin to freedom of choice.

Abstract
Anaerobic membrane bioreactors have attracted increasing interest in the field of wastewater treatment. However, significant amounts of organic matter, nitrogen and sulphide in the effluent may limit its reuse. A photosynthetic bacteria-based membrane bioreactor is proposed for the further treatment of this effluent. A pilot-scale unit was run outdoor for over 900h to assess the process performance at short hydraulic retention time. After an initial biomass development, simultaneous removal of soluble organic matter and nitrogen was achieved (65% and 39%, respectively). In addition, a significant concentration of sulphate was detected in the permeate, revealing an evident sulphide oxidation. Despite the accumulation of biopolymer clusters in the biological suspension, membrane fouling was effectively mitigated by air-aided backwashing, allowing a sustainable operation. Several strains of bacteria were identified including the photoheterotrophic bacteria Rhodopseudomonas sp. and the nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria Chryseobacterium sp.

Abstract
Biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles complex-1 (BLOC-1) is a protein complex involved in the formation of endosomal tubular structures that mediates the sorting of protein cargoes to specialised compartments. In this study, we present insights into the metabolic consequences caused by BLOC-1 deficiency in pallid mice, which carry a null mutation in the Bloc1s6 gene encoding an essential component of this complex. The metabolome of the hippocampus of pallid mice was analysed using an untargeted, liquid chromatography-coupled mass spectrometric approach. After data pre-treatment, statistical analysis and pathway enrichment, we have identified 28 metabolites that showed statistically significant changes between pallid and wild-type control. These metabolites included amino acids, nucleobase-containing compounds and lysophospholipids. Interestingly, pallid mice displayed increased hippocampal levels of the neurotransmitters glutamate and N-acetyl-aspartyl-glutamic acid (NAAG) and their precursor glutamine. Expression of the sodium-coupled neutral amino acid transporter 1 (SNAT1), which transports glutamine into neurons, was also upregulated. Conversely, levels of the neurotransmitter precursors phenylalanine and tryptophan were decreased. Interestingly, many of these changes could be mapped to overlapping metabolic pathways. The observed metabolic alterations are likely to affect neurotransmission and neuronal homeostasis and in turn could mediate the memory and behavioural impairments observed in BLOC-1-deficient mice.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION A lot of evidence has demonstrated the importance of different cytokines in acute renal rejection. Previous studies have examined the presence or absence of interleukin (IL)-10 in related immunopathologic rejection grafts as well as other interleukins. Studies in human transplantation show elevated levels of IL-10 and gamma interferon (INF-γ) in inflammation and rejection. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to demonstrate the lack of association of elevated urinary levels of IL-10 and IFN in the presence of active inflammation. METHODS An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study conducted in transplant recipients at 12 months of follow-up after renal transplantation. In those who were held biopsy after renal transplantation at one year follow-up, or allograft dysfunction, we also measured IL-10 and INF-γ in the urine. The following were considered as variables: age, body mass index (BMI), gender, transplant type, creatinine, chronic kidney disease epidemiology collaboration equation, (CKD-EPI), modification of diet in renal disease study equation (MDRD), Banff classification, and levels of IL-10 and INF-γ. Statistical analysis was performed calculating a sample size of 25 patients, with an alpha bias of 0.05%, yielding measures of central tendency and determining no association between levels of IL-10 and INF-γ with the presence of rejection using SPSS 21.0 program. RESULTS A total of 50 patients, 34 (68%) males, 16 (32%) females, with an average 31.7 ± 9.9 years, weight of 64.91 ± 13.84 kg, size 1.60 ± 0.10 m and 24.97 ± 4.07 BMI were included,39 (78%) living donor and 11 (22%) cadaveric. Twenty-six (52%) showed inflammation in the biopsy and 24 (48%) showed none. Mean creatinine was 1.81 ± 1.5, and the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was 55.27 ± 22.46, 65.76 ± 26.7. (MDRD and CKD-EPI, respectively). No statistical difference was found in the levels of IL-10 and IFN-γ using analysis of variance. (ANOVA; P = .467 and P = .063, respectively) Based on Banff, the inflammation on biopsy score was 2.78 ± 2.84. There was statistical significance (P < .05) with respect to the Cr and eGFR by different equations. There were no significant interactions between cytokine levels and more than 1 factor. (as indicated by P < .2). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS No significant differences were observed in the level of interleukins in patients with and without inflammation, denoting an adequate immunosuppression in most of these patients. Determination of inflammatory cytokines in urine could be used as a determinant of a good immunosuppression status, rather than as an early marker of rejection.
