Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections in men remain under-researched despite their critical role in disease transmission and the increasing incidence of HPV-related cancers. This study investigates the clinical and molecular characteristics of anogenital HPV infections in men, emphasizing genotype prevalence, diagnostic methods, and lesion variability. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted on 70 men aged 18-65 years with clinically diagnosed anogenital HPV infection. Lesions were characterized by morphology and location. HPV DNA was analyzed using INNO-LiPA (INNOvative Line Probe Assay), Hybrid Capture II (HC II), and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays to determine genotype distribution. Associations between clinical features and HPV genotypes were assessed using multivariate statistical analyses. RESULTS Lesions varied in morphology, with verrucous (52.86%) and papular (30%) types being the most common. Localization patterns showed predominance on the penis radix (34.29%) and shaft (27.14%). Molecular testing revealed HPV DNA in 88.57% of the cases using INNO-LiPA, compared to 45% and 40% with HC II and PCR, respectively. Low-risk (LR) genotypes, particularly HPV6, dominated single infections, comprising 68.57% of the cases, while high-risk (HR) genotypes accounted for 20%. Mixed LR and HR infections were observed in 14.29% of the lesions, with greater diversity noted in distal genital regions. Notably, condyloma plana and lesions on the inner prepuce exhibited a higher prevalence of HR and mixed infections. Age and lesion duration showed trends toward older patients and longer disease duration in cases involving perianal and extragenital condylomas, though these findings were not statistically significant. No direct correlation between lesion type or localization and specific genotypes was identified, underscoring the heterogeneity of HPV clinical manifestations in men. CONCLUSIONS Anogenital HPV infections in men exhibit significant heterogeneity in lesion morphology, localization, and genotype distribution. HR HPV genotypes were detected in a notable proportion of benign lesions, underscoring their potential role in disease progression. INNO-LiPA proved superior in diagnostic accuracy, highlighting the need for standardized and cost-effective diagnostic approaches for men. Further research is crucial to elucidate HPV's clinical impact in men and inform prevention and treatment strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Men's involvement in and support for women's decision-making concerning human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is crucial. However, the support provided by men to promote HPV vaccination among women, as a crucial part of intimate relationships has received limited attention. This study examined the behaviors and willingness of young Chinese adult men to support HPV vaccination in women and explored potential factors influencing supportive behaviors and willingness. METHODS From December 2020 to January 2021, a cross-sectional study was conducted among 1014 young men from eight universities in Zhejiang Province, China. The survey questionnaire assessed behaviors and willingness to support HPV vaccination, HPV-related knowledge, information seeking for male HPV vaccination, attitudes toward women's vaccination benefits, and sociodemographic variables. Multivariable logistic regression analyses adjusting for all covariates were used to identify factors associated with supportive behaviors and willingness. RESULTS Only 48.4% of respondents reported having acquired and shared information about HPV vaccination with loved ones, whereas 41.3% recommended HPV vaccination. Approximately 80% of the participants without supportive behaviors reported a willingness to support the vaccination. Positive attitudes toward the benefits of women's HPV vaccination, active seeking of information on male HPV vaccination, and relevant sociodemographic and health-related variables were associated with vaccination-supportive behaviors or willingness. CONCLUSIONS Young men expressed a relatively low level of support for female HPV vaccination. Promoting active information seeking regarding HPV vaccination among men and emphasizing the benefits of HPV vaccination for women could potentially foster more supportive behaviors. Targeted health education should include men to promote their involvement in shared decision-making regarding female HPV vaccinations.

Abstract
Background and Aims Increasing attention is being paid to the role of human papillomavirus (HPV) in men and specifically reproduction. Growing evidence suggests an association between HPV infection with many adverse effects including the impairment of semen parameters, the increase of blastocyst apoptosis, the reduction of endometrial implantation of trophoblastic cells, as well as the increase rate of miscarriages and spontaneous preterm birth. Methods We systematically searched PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, CINHAL, PsycINFO, and ERIC from inception to 2nd of July 2024, for studies that investigated the association between HPV infection with sperm parameters and fertility outcomes. The meta-analysis was conducted on mean data and standard deviations. Results We included 25 studies with a total of 6942 patients. Sperm morphology was lower in HPV positive groups versus HPV negative control groups (SMD = -0.52 95% CI -0.84; -0.21; p = 0.001). Sperm motility was also significantly lower in HPV positive groups when compared to HPV negative controls (SMD = -0.82 95% CI -1.07; -0.57; p = <0.001). Sperm volume, concentration, and pH were not significantly different between the two groups. The other 15 studies included in the systematic review for which it was not possible to conduct a meta-analysis showed strong associations between HPV infection and impairment of sperm parameters, reduced couple fertility and increased risk of pregnancy loss. Conclusions The current evidence highlights the link between HPV infection and sperm parameters, male fertility and reproductive outcomes, which has the potential to lead to a decreased couple fertility, increased risk of pregnancy loss, re-infection and increased treatment costs.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide. It is caused by the HPV, a DNA virus that infects epithelial cells in various mucous membranes and skin surfaces. HPV can be categorised into high-risk and low-risk types based on their association with the development of certain cancers. High-risk HPV types, such as HPV-16 and HPV-18, are known to be oncogenic and are strongly associated with the development of cervical, anal, vaginal, vulvar, penile, and oropharyngeal cancers. These types of HPV can persist in the body for an extended period and, in some cases, lead to the formation of precancerous lesions that may progress to cancer if left untreated. Low-risk HPV types, such as HPV-6 and HPV-11, are not typically associated with cancer but can cause benign conditions like genital warts. Genital warts are characterised by the growth of small, cauliflower-like bumps on the genital and anal areas. Although not life-threatening, they can cause discomfort and psychological distress. HPV is primarily transmitted through sexual contact, including vaginal, anal, and oral sex. It can also be transmitted through non-penetrative sexual activities that involve skin-to-skin contact. In addition to sexual transmission, vertical transmission from mother to child during childbirth is possible but relatively rare. Prevention of HPV infection includes vaccination and safe sexual practices. HPV vaccines, such as Gardasil and Cervarix, are highly effective in preventing infection with the most common high-risk HPV types. These vaccines are typically administered to adolescents and young adults before they become sexually active. Safe sexual practices, such as consistent and correct condom use and limiting the number of sexual partners, can also reduce the risk of HPV transmission. Diagnosis of HPV infection can be challenging because the infection is often asymptomatic, especially in men. In women, HPV testing can be done through cervical screening programs, which involve the collection of cervical cells for analysis. Abnormal results may lead to further diagnostic procedures, such as colposcopy or biopsy, to detect precancerous or cancerous changes. Overall, HPV infection is a prevalent sexually transmitted infection with significant implications for public health. Vaccination, regular screening, and early treatment of precancerous lesions are key strategies to reduce the burden of HPV-related diseases and their associated complications. Education and awareness about HPV and its prevention are crucial in promoting optimal sexual health. This study aimed to carry out a literature review considering several aspects involving HPV infection: Global distribution, prevalence, biology, host interactions, cancer development, prevention, therapeutics, coinfection with other viruses, coinfection with bacteria, association with head and neck squamous cell carcinomas, and association with anal cancer.

Abstract
Anal human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has a high prevalence in men who have sex with men (MSM), resulting in an increased risk for anal cancer. The present work aimed to identify factors associated with HPV in a prospective cohort of HPV-vaccinated MSM using a random forest (RF) approach. This observational study enrolled MSM patients admitted to an Italian (sexually transmitted infection) STI-AIDS Unit. For each patient, rectal swabs for 28 different HPV genotype detection were collected. Two RF algorithms were applied to evaluate predictors that were most associated with HPV. The cohort included 135 MSM, 49% of whom were HIV-positive with a median age of 39 years. In model 1 (baseline information), age, age sexual debut, HIV, number of lifetime sex partners, STIs, were most associated with the HPV. In model 2 (follow-up information), age, age sexual debut, HIV, STI class, and follow-up. The RF algorithm exhibited good performances with 61% and 83% accuracy for models 1 and 2, respectively. Traditional risk factors for anal HPV infection, such as drug use, receptive anal intercourse, and multiple sexual partner, were found to have low importance in predicting HPV status. The present results suggest the need to focus on HPV prevention campaigns.

Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remain a major global health challenge, with an escalating impact on mortality despite advancements in managing conventional risk factors. This review investigates the intricate relationship between human papillomavirus (HPV) and CVD, shedding light on a novel aspect of cardiovascular health. Despite significant progress in understanding and managing traditional CVD risk factors, a substantial proportion of CVD cases lack these conventional markers. Recent research has unveiled HPV, a prevalent sexually transmitted infection, as a potential unconventional risk factor for CVD. This review delves into the underlying mechanisms linking HPV to CVD pathogenesis. HPV's influence on vascular endothelium and induction of systemic inflammation are key contributors. Additionally, HPV disrupts host lipid metabolism, further exacerbating the development of atherosclerosis. The link between HPV and CAD is not merely correlative; it encompasses a complex interplay of virological, immunological, and metabolic factors. Understanding the connection between HPV and CVD holds transformative potential. Insights from this review not only underscore the significance of considering HPV as a crucial risk factor but also advocate for targeted HPV screening and vaccination strategies to mitigate CVD risks. This multidisciplinary exploration bridges the gap between infectious diseases and cardiovascular health, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach to combating the global burden of cardiovascular disease. Further research and clinical guidelines in this realm are essential to harness the full scope of preventive and therapeutic interventions, ultimately shaping a healthier cardiovascular landscape.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is an international public health crisis, affecting several hundred thousand women annually. While not universally protective due to other risk factors, many such cases are preventable with vaccination against high-risk serotypes of the human papilloma virus (HPV 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 53, 58). Advanced-stage and recurrent cervical cancers are typically lethal and have been the focus in recent years of the integration of immune checkpoint inhibitors (CPIs) to improve survival. We have consolidated information regarding the role of the immune system in both disease progression and disease clearance with the aid of targeted therapies and immunotherapeutic agents. Additionally, we have characterized the treatment modalities currently indicated as the standard of care-such as bevacizumab and the immune CPIs-and those recently approved or in development, including Tivdak, Vigil, and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cells.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The epidemiology of human papillomavirus (HPV) in women has been well documented. Less is known about the epidemiology of HPV in men. We aim to provide updated global and regional pooled overall, type-specific, and age-specific prevalence estimates of genital HPV infection in men. METHODS We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the prevalence of genital HPV infection in the general male population. We searched Embase, Ovid MEDLINE, and the Global Index Medicus for studies published between Jan 1, 1995, and June 1, 2022. Inclusion criteria were population-based surveys in men aged 15 years or older or HPV prevalence studies with a sample size of at least 50 men with no HPV-related pathology or known risk factors for HPV infection that collected samples from anogenital sites and used PCR or hybrid capture 2 techniques for HPV DNA detection. Exclusion criteria were studies conducted among populations at increased risk of HPV infection, exclusively conducted among circumcised men, and based on urine or semen samples. We screened identified reports and extracted summary-level data from those that were eligible. Data were extracted by two researchers independently and reviewed by a third, and discrepancies were resolved by consensus. We extracted only data on mucosal α-genus HPVs. Global and regional age-specific prevalences for any HPV, high-risk (HR)-HPV, and individual HPV types were estimated using random-effects models for meta-analysis and grouped by UN Sustainable Development Goals geographical classification. FINDINGS We identified 5685 publications from database searches, of which 65 studies (comprising 44 769 men) were included from 35 countries. The global pooled prevalence was 31% (95% CI 27-35) for any HPV and 21% (18-24) for HR-HPV. HPV-16 was the most prevalent HPV genotype (5%, 95% CI 4-7) followed by HPV-6 (4%, 3-5). HPV prevalence was high in young adults, reaching a maximum between the ages of 25 years and 29 years, and stabilised or slightly decreased thereafter. Pooled prevalence estimates were similar for the UN Sustainable Development Goal geographical regions of Europe and Northern America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Australia and New Zealand (Oceania). The estimates for Eastern and South-Eastern Asia were half that of the other regions. INTERPRETATION Almost one in three men worldwide are infected with at least one genital HPV type and around one in five men are infected with one or more HR-HPV types. Our findings show that HPV prevalence is high in men over the age of 15 years and support that sexually active men, regardless of age, are an important reservoir of HPV genital infection. These estimates emphasise the importance of incorporating men in comprehensive HPV prevention strategies to reduce HPV-related morbidity and mortality in men and ultimately achieve elimination of cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. Abstract
Background This first in human study was designed as an open label clinical trial to assess safety and tolerability of Serum Institute of India Pvt. Ltd. (SIIPL) quadrivalent HPV (qHPV) vaccine. Methods A total of 48 healthy male and female (24 each) adult volunteers were administered a 0.5 ml single dose of SIIPL qHPV vaccine intramuscularly, and were followed for one month for safety outcomes viz., immediate, solicited, unsolicited and serious adverse events. Results 47 subjects completed the study in compliance with protocol. One subject had pain immediately after immunization which was recovered without treatment. None of the participants experienced any other local or systemic solicited AEs and serious AE. Conclusion qHPV vaccine manufactured by SIIPL was found to be safe and well tolerable in adults. Further clinical development should continue to assess safety and immunogenicity, in the target population following recommended 2 and 3-dose schedule.Clinical Trial Registration - CTRI/2017/02/007785.

Abstract
Purpose This study aims to analyze the distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes and the associations of demographic characteristics with HPV infection among women with condyloma acuminatum (CA) in Henan Province of China. Methods From January 2019 to October 2022, 702 women with CA were sampled for HPV subtypes and surveyed by questionnaire at Henan Provincial People's Hospital. The HPV genotype was tested by flow-through hybridization after polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results The location of warts was mainly vulva. The age of the subjects was mainly distributed in the 20-29-year-old, followed by 30-39-year-old. The most common subtypes were HPV 6 (43.59%), 11 (24.93%), 16 (11.82%), 52 (7.83%), 58 (7.55%), 51 (7.26%), 61 (5.70%), 39 (5.56%), 18 (5.13%), and 54 (4.70%), our results also suggested that HPV 6 and 11 were the dominant genotypes in each age group. The infection of low-risk HPV (LR-HPV) (74.50%) and single HPV (47.01%) were the main categories. In terms of educational level, women with senior high school or above were inclined to infect single and pure-LR HPV. Unmarried status, sometimes or never condom use increased the chances of multiple, pure high-risk (HR) and mixed HPV infections. Women with multiple sex partners were more likely to cause multiple and mixed HPV infections. Conclusion Our experimental data on the prevalence and subtype distribution of HPV in women with CA could provide valuable reference for preventing CA in Henan Province. The application of the nine-valent vaccine provides a broad prospect for female CA prevention.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is associated with precancerous lesions and cancer of the genital tract both in women and men. The high incidence of cervical cancer worldwide focused the research on this infection mainly in women and to a lesser extent in men. In this review, we summarized epidemiological, immunological, and diagnostic data associated with HPV and cancer in men. We presented an overview of the main characteristics of HPV and infection in men that are associated with different types of cancer but also associated with male infertility. Men are considered important vectors of HPV transmission to women; therefore, identifying the sexual and social behavioral risk factors associated with HPV infection in men is critical to understand the etiology of the disease. It is also essential to describe how the immune response develops in men during HPV infection or when vaccinated, since this knowledge could help to control the viral transmission to women, decreasing the incidence of cervical cancer, but also could reduce other HPV-associated cancers among men who have sex with men (MSM). Finally, we summarized the methods used over time to detect and genotype HPV genomes, as well as some diagnostic tests that use cellular and viral biomarkers that were identified in HPV-related cancers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most common sexually transmitted viral infection in the world. HPV vaccination adherence rates in men are generally lower than in women. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess adherence to HPV vaccination in young working-age males (18-30 years old). METHODS A systematic review was performed using three databases: PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). RESULTS After duplicate removal, the initial search resulted in 478 eligible papers. With the exclusion of 425 papers after screening the abstracts, full texts of 53 articles were reviewed. Subsequently, 45 were excluded. Among the eight studies included, four (50%) examined the vaccination adherence in young adults through data registered in nationwide insurance or private companies' databases, three (37.5%) in young adults in different settings through data collected from surveys and questionnaires, and one (12.5%) an HPV vaccination campaign in a family medicine residency practice. CONCLUSION Adherence to HPV vaccination in men of working age (18-30 years) does not appear to be adequate (pooled prevalence 11%). In order to achieve a higher level of compliance, it is important to place an emphasis on vaccination campaigns in schools as well as in the workplace, after consultation with and approval from local, regional, and federal public health agencies.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV), commonly documented as the cause of warts, has gained much interest recently due to its possible links to several types of cancer. HPV infection is discussed in this review from multiple angles, including its virology, epidemiology, etiology, immunology, clinical symptoms, and treatment. Recent breakthroughs in molecular biology have led to the development of new methods for detecting and treating HPV in tissue. There is no cure for HPV, and although vaccines are available to prevent infection with the most common HPV viruses, their utilization is limited. Destruction and excision are the primary treatment modalities. This review sheds light on the epidemiology, molecular pathogenesis, the association of several other pathogens with HPV, the latest treatment strategies available to treat the same, and an overview of the progress made and the obstacles still to be overcome in the fight against HPV infection.

Abstract
The present guidelines aim to provide comprehensive information on genital condyloma acuminata, including the epidemiology, clinical features, diagnosis and management. The guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of genital condyloma acuminata in adults in Asia, including patients with HIV co-infection. METHODOLOGY A PubMed search was performed, using the keywords "condyloma acuminata", "anal wart", "anogenital wart", "genital wart" and "genital HPV". A total of 3031 results were found in publications during last six years. A careful review of the titles and abstracts was done to find all the studies pertaining to epidemiology, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of condyloma acuminata. DIAGNOSIS Various diagnostic procedures described are: 1. PCR (LE: 2b). 2. Serology (LE: 2b). 3. In-situ hybridization (LE: 3). PREVENTION 1. Vaccination (LE: 1a): Quadrivalent vaccine reduced the frequency of anogenital warts in both vaccinated and unvaccinated contacts. According to the update Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations, the following protocol is recommended: (a). HPV vaccination at age 11 or 12 years for both males and females. (b). Catch-up vaccination for all persons through age 26 years. (c). Shared clinical decision-making regarding potential HPV vaccination for persons aged 27-45 years, who are at risk of new HPV infection. 2. Male circumcision (LE: 2a): conflicting evidence. HIV AND CONDYLOMA ACUMINATA In HIV-affected individuals, the course of HPV is more aggressive, with a greater risk of treatment resistance, increased chances of intraepithelial neoplasia as well as cancers. Abstract
Malignancies are found between the first three reasons of mortality in pediatric and adult kidney transplant recipients, who overall have disproportionately higher rates of cancer compared to the general population, including human papillomavirus (HPV)-related genital, anal and oropharynx region cancers. Therefore, preventing HPV in this patient population is extremely important. HPV-vaccine was demonstrated to prevent HPV infection in individuals with intact immune systems. In addition, recent data reported less precancerous HPV lesions and cervical cancers with use of HPV vaccine. Since HPV is a sexually transmitted virus that is typically acquired shortly after the onset of sexual activity, it is best to administer the HPV vaccine immunization prior to the onset of sexual activity. This article reviews the epidemiology and pathophysiology of the HPV infection, as well as its role in the development of HPV-related pre-cancerous lesions and cancers in both general population and kidney transplant recipients. The focus is on the most effective primary prophylactic strategy, which is the HPV vaccination. The particularities of HPV vaccination strategies in kidney transplant recipients are compared to the general population. In addition, the article analyzes the various causes of suboptimal HPV immunization rates in kidney transplant candidates and recipients and discusses vaccination optimization strategies that can be applied during childhood and adolescence to reduce the burden of HPV-related disease states and cancer among adult kidney transplant recipients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Social question-and-answer (Q&A) sites have become an important venue for individuals to obtain and share human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine knowledge. OBJECTIVE This study aims to examine how different features of an HPV vaccine-related answer are associated with users' response behaviors on social Q&A websites. METHODS A total of 2953 answers and 270 corresponding questions regarding the HPV vaccine were collected from a leading Chinese social Q&A platform, Zhihu. Three types of key features, including content, context, and contributor, were extracted and coded. Negative binomial regression models were used to examine their impact on the vote and comment count of an HPV vaccine-related answer. RESULTS The findings showed that both content length and vividness were positively related to the response behaviors of HPV vaccine-related answers. In addition, compared with answers under the question theme benefits and risks, answers under the question theme vaccination experience received fewer votes and answers under the theme news opinions received more votes but fewer comments. The effects of characteristics of contributors were also supported, suggesting that answers from a male contributor with more followers and no professional identity would attract more votes and comments from community members. The significant interaction effect between content and context features further showed that long and vivid answers about HPV vaccination experience were more likely to receive votes and comments of users than those about benefits and risks. CONCLUSIONS The study provides a complete picture of the underlying mechanism behind response behaviors of users toward HPV vaccine-related answers on social Q&A websites. The results help health community organizers develop better strategies for building and maintaining a vibrant web-based community for communicating HPV vaccine knowledge.

Abstract
External anogenital warts (EGW) are primarily associated with the low-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes 6 and 11, though coinfection with other low-risk and oncogenic high-risk HPV genotypes also occurs. Although there have been many studies on HPV-associated disease, the prevalence of HPV genotypes associated with EGW is not well characterized. The objective of our retrospective study was to determine the prevalence of HPV genotypes among patients diagnosed with EGW in the south-west of Hungary. Archived formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues from 94 patients were processed in our study. HPV genotypes were determined, applying HPV Direct Flow CHIP test. The overall prevalence of HPV DNA in the EGW samples was 100%, yielding 131 infections among the 94 samples. Of these cases, 72.3% were mono while 27.6% were multi-infections. Out of the 131 infections, the cumulative prevalence of HPV 6 and 11 was 71%. A total of 98.9% of the samples were carrying at least one of these genotypes, while 19.1% of the cases occurred with at least one high-risk genotype. Data from our study could provide invaluable information concerning the prevalence of HPV types among patients with EGW, enabling improved assessment of the actual and future efficacy of vaccination programs, vaccine development, and forecast changes in infection patterns.

Abstract
Introduction: This study assesses whether women with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) risk behavior have higher Papanicolaou (Pap), human papillomavirus (HPV), and HIV testing, and whether the level of selected variables associated with HIV risk behavior correlate with greater testing. Association between HIV risk situations and HPV vaccination is also evaluated. Methods: A cross-sectional assessment was performed in women at age 18 years and older completing the 2018 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey. Independent variables considered and adjusted for, included age, race/ethnicity, marital status, education, annual household income, smoking status, and health care status. Results: Prevalence of a Pap test in the past 3 years was 66.2%, of HPV test in the past 5 years was 40.2%, and of HIV test ever was 41.9%. HIV risk situations applied to 4.9% women (15.2% in ages 18-24, 7.2% in 25-44, 1.9% in 45-64, and 0.6% in 65 years and older). Adjusted odds (95% confidence interval) of a Pap, HPV, or HIV test according to HIV risk behavior status were 1.5 (1.3-1.8), 1.6 (1.4-1.8), and 2.6 (2.3-2.9), respectively. The positive association between HIV risk behavior and Pap testing depends on marital status. HIV risk behavior significantly correlates with several variables, which, in turn, correlate with testing. There was no association between HIV risk behavior and HPV vaccination. Conclusions: Women with HIV risk behavior are more likely to pursue Pap, HPV, and HIV testing. The significant positive associations are largest for HIV testing and smallest for Pap testing, after adjustment for the selected variables. HIV risk behavior is not associated with HPV vaccination.

Abstract
Infertility is an important health problem that affects up to 16% of couples worldwide. Male infertility is responsible for about 50% of the cases, and the various causes of male infertility may be classified in pre-testicular (for example hypothalamic diseases), testicular, and post-testicular (for example obstructive pathologies of seminal ducts) causes. Sexually transmitted infections (STI) are increasingly widely accepted by researchers and clinicians as etiological factors of male infertility. In particular, several recent reports have documented the presence of HPV in seminal fluid and observed that sperm infection can also be present in sexually active asymptomatic male and infertile patients. In this review, we aimed to perform a systematic review of the whole body of literature exploring the impact of HPV infection in natural and assisted fertility outcomes, from both an experimental and a clinical point of view. Starting from in-vitro studies in animals up to in-vivo studies in humans, we aimed to study and evaluate the weight of this infection as a possible cause of idiopathic infertility in males with any known cause of conception failure.

Abstract
A major challenge in human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine programs is the universal gender-neutral recommendation, as well as estimation of its long-term effect. The objective of this study is to predict the added benefit of male vaccination, especially in men who have sex with men (MSM), and to analyze the impact of the program on society. We propose a mathematical model of the HPV infection based on a network paradigm. Data from Spain allowed constructing the sexual network. HPV force of infection was taken from literature. Different scenarios using variable vaccine coverage in both males and females were studied. Strong herd immunity is shown in the heterosexual population, with an important decrease of HPV 6/11 infections both in men and in unvaccinated women with an only-women vaccination at 14 years of age. No impact of this program occurred in the infection incidence in MSM. This group would only benefit from a vaccination program that includes males. However, the impact at short term would be lower than in heterosexual men. The protection of MSM can only be achieved by direct vaccination of males. This may have important consequences for public health.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In 2018, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration extended the licensure for human papillomavirus vaccination to include everyone aged 27-45 years. In 2019, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices issued a recommendation that adults aged 27-45 years and their providers engage in shared clinical decision making about human papillomavirus vaccination. In addition, in 2019, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices reiterated that all previously unvaccinated individuals receive catch-up vaccination through age 26 years. This study estimates the pre-recommendation prevalence of human papillomavirus vaccination and factors associated with vaccination in 2 age groups (19-26 years [young adults] and 27-45 years [mid-adults]), forming a baseline to monitor future coverage among U.S. adults. METHODS The final sample included 9,744 individuals (2,522 young adults and 7,222 mid-adults) who participated in the 2017 National Health Interview Survey. The main outcomes were receipt of 1 or more human papillomavirus vaccination and whether the participant had been vaccinated as an adult. Demographic characteristics and healthcare factors were included as covariates in statistical analyses. RESULTS Population estimate of receiving 1 or more human papillomavirus vaccine doses among young adults was 36.3% (female: 51.5%, male: 21.2%; p<0.001) and 9.7% for mid-adults (females: 15.8%, males: 3.2%; p<0.001). In the best-fit model, age was inversely associated with vaccination for mid-adults (female: OR=0.84, 95% CI=0.81, 0.86; male: OR=0.86; 95% CI=0.82, 0.90) and male young adults (OR=0.79, 95% CI=0.71, 0.88). Of the entire vaccinated sample aged 19-45 years, 26.6% had received their first vaccination as an adult (95% CI=23.9, 29.4). CONCLUSIONS These data emphasize the continued need for vaccinating adolescents aged 11-12 years given that few adults were vaccinated against human papillomavirus.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Persistent anal high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection is a major risk factor for anal cancer among MSM and transgender women (TGW). We aimed to estimate incidence, clearance, and persistence of anal HR-HPV in HIV-positive and HIV-negative MSM and TGW, and to assess factors for HR-HPV persistence. DESIGN Prospective cohort study. METHODS MSM and TGW aged at least 18 years, were enrolled from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, then followed up 6-monthly for 12 months. Anal swabs were collected at every visit for HR-HPV genotypes to define anal HR-HPV incidence, clearance, and persistence. Logistic regression was used to evaluate factors associated with HR-HPV persistence. RESULTS Three hundred and twenty-five MSM and TGW were included in this study, of whom 72.3% were HIV-positive. The incidence of anal HR-HPV persistence was higher in HIV-positive than HIV-negative MSM participants (28.4/1000 vs. 13.9/1000 person-months). HIV-positive participants had HR-HPV lower clearance rate than HIV-negative participants (OR 0.3; 95% CI 0.1-0.7). The overall persistence of HR-HPV was 39.9% in HIV-positive and 22.8% HIV-negative participants. HPV-16 was the most persistent HR-HPV in both HIV-positive and HIV-negative participants. HIV infection (aOR 2.87; 95% CI 1.47-5.61), living in Kuala Lumpur (aOR 4.99; 95% CI 2.22-11.19) and Bali (aOR 3.39; 95% CI 1.07-10.75), being employed/freelance (aOR 3.99; 95% CI 1.48-10.77), and not being circumcised (aOR 2.29; 95% CI 1.07-4.88) were independently associated with anal HR-HPV persistence. CONCLUSION HIV-positive MSM and TGW had higher risk of persistent anal HR-HPV infection. Prevention program should be made available and prioritized for HIV-positive MSM and TGW where resources are limited.

Abstract
Nearly all cases of cervical cancer are attributable to human papillomavirus (HPV), making it a significant women's health issue. Though there have been advances in the prevention of HPV via vaccination, significant barriers continue to suppress vaccination rates for girls. Delaying vaccination until after sexual debut increases a woman's chance of HPV infection, but there has been no quantification of this risk in the literature. The present study sought to address this gap via secondary data analysis with 173 female participants from the 2015-2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey dataset. Results indicate that women in the sample who received the HPV vaccine after their sexual debut were 2.63 times more likely than women who receive the vaccine before their sexual debut to report an HPV diagnosis. These results have clear public and sexual health implications.

Abstract
Background We aimed to assess whether sexual exposure may explain all incident anal human papillomavirus (HPV) detections among men who have sex with men (MSM). Methods A longitudinal study among MSM was conducted between 2010 and 2013 with visits every 6 months and up to 24 months of follow-up. Risk-factor questionnaires, blood samples, and anal and penile self-swabs were collected at each visit. Self-swabs were used for detection and genotyping of HPV by the broad spectrum L1 based SPF10 PCR DNA/enzyme immunoassay LiPA25 system. Serum samples were tested for high-risk HPV (hrHPV) antibodies. Incident anal HPV detection rates among sexually non-, low, and highly exposed MSM were compared. Factors associated with incident anal hrHPV detection were assessed using multivariable Cox regression. Results Seven hundred fourteen men (median age, 40 years; 39% human immunodeficiency virus [HIV] infected) were included in the analysis. Incident anal detections of all hrHPV types were observed among both sexually nonexposed and exposed MSM. In multivariable analyses, being highly sexually exposed, being HIV infected, and having a penile HPV infection were positively associated with incident anal HPV detection; those reporting more sex partners had a nonsignificantly increased risk of HPV detection. Conclusions Incident anal hrHPV detection is common among recently nonexposed MSM, suggesting that a reactivated latent HPV infection instead of an incident infection may underlie incident HPV detection.

Abstract
HIV infection may increase the risk of persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and complications. Male adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with perinatally-acquired HIV (PHIV) and without HIV in Thailand were matched by age and lifetime number of sexual partners. HPV infection at oral, anal, penile, and scrotal sites was detected by polymerase chain reaction. A total of 49 PHIV and 47 HIV-uninfected male AYAs (median age 18 [17–20] years) were enrolled (June 2013–September 2014). Overall, 18 were men who have sex with men (MSM) (12% of PHIV, 26% of HIV-uninfected AYAs; P = 0.12). Among the PHIV, the median (interquartile range) CD4 cell count was 573 (434–747) cells/mm3and 69% had HIV RNA <40 copies/ml. The prevalence of any HPV infection was 61% in PHIV and 49% in HIV-uninfected AYAs ( P = 0.23) and that of high-risk HPV was 33% in PHIV and 28% in HIV-uninfected AYAs ( P = 0.59). Among those with HPV, 55% had any high-risk HPV type and 28% had HPV-16 and/or HPV-18. In multivariate models, smoking (OR 6.10, 95% CI, 1.19–31.35, P = 0.01) and prior history of STI symptoms (OR 5.01, 95% CI, 1.63–15.40, P = 0.004) were associated with high-risk HPV infection. HPV vaccination in early adolescence presents a valuable but missed prevention opportunity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study was undertaken to determine the distribution of type-specific human papillomavirus (HPV) in external anogenital warts, and the correlation with clinical presentation of warts and demographic data of patients. METHODS Genital warts specimens were obtained from 129 men and 27 women attending a dermatology clinic, who had been advised surgical excision. The tissues were fixed and screened for HPV DNA by using real-time PCR. HPV genotype was determined by PCR-based sequencing. RESULTS Sixteen different HPV genotypes were detected, comprising 4 oncogenic HPV genotypes (16, 18, 33, 38), 2 low-risk HPV types (LR) (6, 81), HPV 9, and other types associated with common warts (1a, 2, 4, 7, 27b, 27, 57b, 57c, 65). Oncogenic HPV types were found in 34.62% of patients, LR HPV types in 14.4%, HPV 9 in 0.64%, and common warts type in 50.6%. The prevalence of HPV infection with a single type was 88.4, 9.0% for two types, and 2.6% for three types. Multiple logistic regression model showed that age, gender, nationality, number of warts, size of each wart, and positive history of wart in sexual partner, were not predictors of HPV type. However, patients with anogenital warts of one to six months duration were three times more likely to have oncogenic HPV infection compared to those with less than one month. CONCLUSIONS This study shows that oncogenic HPV types are detected in around 35% of patients with genital warts, and are prevalent in warts of one to six months duration.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Although human papillomavirus (HPV) routine vaccination programmes have been implemented around the world and recommendations have been expanded to include other high-risk individuals, current recommendations often differ between countries in Europe, as well as worldwide. AIM To find and summarise the best available evidence of HPV vaccination in high-risk patients aiding clinicians and public health workers in the day-to-day vaccine decisions relating to HPV in Spain. METHODS We conducted a systematic review of the immunogenicity, safety and efficacy/effectiveness of HPV vaccination in high-risk populations between January 2006 and June 2016. HPV vaccination recommendations were established with levels of evidence according to the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system. RESULTS A strong recommendation about HPV vaccination was made in the following groups: HIV infected patients aged 9-26 years; men who have sex with men aged 9-26 years; women with precancerous cervical lesions; patients with congenital bone marrow failure syndrome; women who have received a solid organ transplant or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation aged 9-26 years; and patients diagnosed with recurrent respiratory papillomatosis. CONCLUSIONS Data concerning non-routine HPV vaccination in populations with a high risk of HPV infection and associated lesions were scarce. We have developed a document to evaluate and establish evidence-based guidelines on HPV vaccination in high-risk populations in Spain, based on best available scientific evidence.

Abstract
We sought to understand young men who have sex with men (YMSM) perspectives and preferred features for a mobile health (mHealth) tool designed to facilitate human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. YMSM were recruited on a popular social/sexual networking app to participate in online focus groups. Discussions were designed to elicit what the men would want in a mHealth tool specific for sexual health and HPV. Demographic data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and focus group data were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Forty-eight YMSM participated. Mean age was 23.4 years, and 70.0% reported their race as Black. Qualitative themes included general HPV knowledge and awareness, current patterns in technology use, desired app qualities, and desired app content. Youth described varying levels of HPV knowledge, utilized apps to engage socially, and for travel, banking, gaming, news and entertainment, and few used apps to facilitate personal health or engage with healthcare systems. Participants desired credible, relatable, secure, and easy to use interfaces that provided sexual health and HPV information in a positive context. They described ways to creatively engage and directly connect youth to health providers. We identified a culturally relevant youth driven approach to facilitate HPV vaccination and sexual health among YMSM.

Abstract
Introduction: Genital infection with papilloma virus is the most common sexually-transmitted disease (STD). It is recommended that individuals who have a sexual risk factor, should be screened for syphilis, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and hepatitis B and C. However, this strategy is often not carried out in Iran. In the present study, patients with genital warts were screened for syphilis, HIV, and hepatitis B and C. Methods: We evaluated 311 patients with anogenital warts visiting dermatology clinics from June 2016 to June 2017. In addition, demographic data were collected using a pre-designed questionnaire. Patients who presented to Sina Hospital, Tabriz, Iran, were examined for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C, urethral and vaginal discharge, and history of painful genital lesions, while patients presenting to Bahar Behavioral Disease Counseling Center of Tabriz were examined only for HIV. Data were analyzed using chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests via SPSS software. Results: Out of 263 cases with genital warts presenting to Sina Hospital, 1, 1, and 2 cases were positive for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B, respectively. At the same time, one of the patients presenting to Bahar Center showed HIV infection. Conclusion: We found two HIV-positive, two hepatitis B virus (HBV)-positive, and one syphilis cases in 311 patients with genital warts, so it is recommended to assess these tests routinely in high-risk individuals with genital warts, including multi-partner and addicted patients.

Abstract
High-risk human papillomavirus (HPV)-driven cancers represent a major health concern worldwide. Despite the constant effort to develop and promote vaccination against HPVs, there is still a high percentage of non-vaccinated population. Furthermore, secondary prevention programs are not ubiquitous worldwide and not widely followed. Metastatic disease is the cause of the great majority of cancer-associated deaths, making it essential to determine its underlying mechanisms and to identify actionable anti-metastatic targets. Within certain types of cancer (e.g., head and neck), HPV-positive tumors show different dissemination patterns when compared with their HPV-negative counterparts, implicating HPV-related factors in the metastatic process. Among the many groups of biomolecules dysregulated by HPV, microRNAs have recently emerged as key regulators of carcinogenesis, able to control complex processes like cancer metastization. In this review, we present recent data on the role of microRNAs in the metastization of HPV-related cancers and on their possible clinical relevance as biomarkers of metastatic disease and/or as therapeutic targets.

Abstract
Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is common among men who have sex with men (MSM), especially among Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-infected MSM. The prevalence of HPV among MSM, accounts for the higher incidence of HPV-related cancer observed in this population. It is well known that targeted HPV vaccination is an effective way to prevent HPV infection; an intervention which could be beneficial for a high-risk group such as MSM. The current study aimed to assess the attitudes towards and acceptability of the HPV vaccine among MSM in in Urumqi, China. Methods: A total of 253 HIV-uninfected and 205 HIV-infected MSM (in Urumqi, China participated in the current cross-sectional study. Information on HPV-related knowledge, willingness to be vaccinated as well as demographic data were collected through a self-administered survey. A logistic regression model was applied to determine the predictors of HPV vaccine acceptability among the population. Results: The survey results indicated that only 218 (47.6%) of MSM questioned were aware of the term HPV, nevertheless, once awareness was established the prevalence of acceptability of free HPV vaccine was recorded at 96.7% of the total MSM sample. However, HIV-uninfected and HIV-infected MSM demonstrated significantly different attitudes in regard to their acceptability of free HPV vaccination (94.9% vs. 99.0%, p < 0.001) as well as their willingness to pay for the HPV vaccination (64.8% vs. 80.5%, p < 0.001), with the HIV-infected group being significantly more receptive towards HPV immunization. A multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that local residency, employment status, hepatitis B vaccination status, previous awareness of HPV and HIV status were independent predictors of the participants’ willingness to pay for HPV vaccination. Conclusions: Participants in the current study demonstrated poor knowledge of HPV but the majority of MSM were willing to accept HPV vaccine after consultation; with HIV-infected MSM displaying higher acceptability towards a potential HPV vaccination than HIV-uninfected MSM. MSM who were previously aware of HPV were more likely to be willing to pay for HPV vaccine.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Men who have sex with men require special attention for human papillomavirus vaccination given elevated infection risks and the development of, in particular, anal cancer. OBJECTIVE Our purpose was to review the cost effectiveness of human papillomavirus vaccination for both currently vaccine-eligible and non-eligible individuals, particularly the men-who-have-sex-with-men population, and synthesize the available evidence. METHODS We systematically searched for published articles in two main databases (PubMed and EMBASE). Screening and data extraction were performed by two independent reviewers. The risk of bias was assessed using a validated instrument (Bias in Economic Evaluation, ECOBIAS). Methodological aspects, study results, and sensitivity analyses were extracted and synthesized to generate a consistent overview of the cost effectiveness of human papillomavirus vaccination in the men-who-have-sex-with-men population. RESULTS From 770 identified articles, four met the inclusion criteria. Across the studies, human papillomavirus vaccination showed incremental cost-effectiveness ratios ranging from dominant to US$96,146 and US$14,000 to US$18,200 for tertiary prevention and primary prevention, respectively. The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio seemed most sensitive to vaccine efficacy, vaccine costs, and the incidence of anal cancer in the selected target populations. CONCLUSION This review presents the human papillomavirus vaccine, both as a primary and adjuvant (tertiary) vaccination, as a potentially cost-effective strategy for preventing mainly-but not limited to only-anal cancer in men-who-have-sex-with-men populations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Genital warts and human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated cancers in men can be substantially reduced through HPV vaccination; yet, globally, HPV vaccine uptake among boys remains low. This meta-ethnography synthesizes qualitative studies to understand, in-depth, HPV vaccine acceptability and decision-making among adolescent boys and/or their parents. METHODS A systematic search identified qualitative studies examining HPV vaccines from the perspectives of boys and/or boys' parents. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) 32-item checklist was used to assess quality of reporting. Using meta-ethnographic techniques, we conducted a structured and iterative process of data analysis, coded original studies, and then developed descriptive and analytic themes to synthesize the findings. RESULTS Review of 15 eligible studies (n = 3362 parents, n = 39 boys) revealed multilevel factors that influence HPV vaccine acceptability and decision-making among adolescent boys and their parents: (1) individual, e.g., low HPV vaccine knowledge/awareness, (2) interpersonal, e.g., key relationships between parents, sons, and healthcare providers (HCP), (3) community/societal, e.g., parental duty to protect, and (4) systemic, e.g., HPV vaccine messaging. Parents generally accepted adolescent boys' sexuality and the need for vaccination, motivated by wanting to protect their sons from HPV and HPV-associated cancers, and valued HCP-initiated discussion and recommendation. Acceptability was mitigated by low awareness/knowledge of HPV vaccines and low perceived benefits for boys, lack of HCP-initiated discussion, out-of-pocket costs, multiple doses, stigma, and mixed messages about HPV. CONCLUSIONS Multilevel factors influence HPV vaccine acceptability and decision-making among parents and their adolescent sons. Providing clear and unambiguous messages about HPV vaccines-for whom (boys and girls), for what (genital warts and cancers in men), and when (before sexual debut)-through increased HCP-initiated discussion and targeted public health campaigns may support HPV vaccine uptake among boys. Future research should consistently disaggregate findings by sex of child and parent, and explore effective messaging tailored for boys and parents.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection among men who have sex with men (MSM). Study on prevalence and risk factors of anal HPV infection among HIV-negative MSM in Northwestern China was rare. METHODS We performed a cross-sectional study of HPV prevalence using anal swab specimens among HIV-negative MSM in Urumqi city of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China between April 1st and October 30th in 2016. Prevalence of any anal HPV infection, high-risk and low-risk HPV infection was estimated. Risk factors associated with any anal HPV infection was analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression models. RESULTS Among 538 potential participants, 500(92.9%) were recruited in this study. The genotyping results of anal HPV infection were available for all. Of them, 259 (51.8%), 190 (38.0%) and 141(28.2%) were positive for at least one of the targeted 37 HPV genotypes, high-risk HPV genotypes, and any low-risk HPV genotypes. The most prevalent anal HPV genotype was HPV 6(11.8%), followed by HPV 16(11.2%), HPV 11(10.8%), HPV 51(7.0%) and HPV 18(5.4%).Among those infected with at least one of the targeted 37 anal HPV genotypes, 75(29.0%), 155(59.8%) and 191(73.7%) were infected with 2-valent, quadrivalent and 9-valent HPV vaccine-covered genotypes. Receptive anal intercourse in the past year was the only predictor of any anal HPV infection in multivariate logistic regression model. CONCLUSION Prevalence of any anal HPV infection and high-risk HPV infection among HIV-negative MSM in Urumqi city of Xinjiang is high. The majority of genotypes detected in our study were covered by quadrivalent and 9-valent HPV vaccines. Regular anal exams and early HPV vaccination among MSM may be considered in future HPV prevention programs in Xinjiang, China.

Abstract
Many men who have sex with men (MSM) do not disclose their same sex behaviors to healthcare providers (HCPs). We used a series of logistic regression models to explore a conceptual framework that first identified predictors of disclosure to HCPs among young MSM (YMSM), and subsequently examined young men's disclosure of male-male sexual behaviors to HCPs as a mediator between sociodemographic and behavioral factors and three distinct health outcomes [HIV testing, sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination]. We determined the predictors of disclosure to HCPs among YMSM and examined the relationship between disclosure and the receipt of appropriate healthcare services. Data were collected online through a US national sample of 1750 YMSM (ages 18-29 years) using a social and sexual networking website for MSM. Sexual history, STI/HIV screening history, sexual health, and patient-provider communication were analyzed in the logistic regression models. Participants were predominantly white (75.2%) and gay/homosexual (76.7%) with at least some college education (82.7%). Young men's disclosure of male-male sexual behaviors to HCPs was associated with the receipt of all healthcare outcomes in our model. Disclosure was a stronger mediator in HPV vaccination than in HIV and STI testing. Disclosure to non-HCP friends and family, HCP visit in the past year, and previous STI diagnosis were the strongest predictors of disclosure. Young men's disclosure of male-male sexual behaviors to HCPs is integral to the receipt of appropriate healthcare services among YMSM. HPV vaccination is more dependent on provider-level interaction with patients than HIV/STI testing.

Abstract
AIM Potential screening modalities for early diagnosis of squamous cell anal cancer (SCC) in HIV patients include digital anorectal examination (DARE), anal Papanicolaou testing (Pap test), human papilloma virus (HPV) co-testing, and high-resolution anoscopy. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the results of a five-year screening program for SCC in HIV patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS We conducted a retrospective study on 204 HIV patients who underwent a screening program for SCC from October 2010 to January 2015. All patients were screened by DARE, anal Pap test, including HPV test and cytology, and high-resolution video-proctoscopy (HR-VPS) with and without acetic acid 3%. Depending on macroscopic appearance and biopsies, patients underwent observation or treatment. Median follow-up was 36 months. RESULTS Cytologic abnormalities (Cyt+) for high-risk HPV genotypes were recorded in 34% of patients. HR-VPS was positive in 59 patients (29%), of whom 13 patients (22%) were positive for warts; the rest have typical features of anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN). Sixteen (8%) patients had AIN (AIN I-III) and underwent wide local excision, ablation, or imiquimod. Absence of progression was recorded. Fourteen patients (7%) had SCC: eight (57%) with no evidence of recurrence, two (14%) had recurrence, and four (29%) died from metastatic disease. CONCLUSIONS Our data demonstrated a successful screening program in preventing SCC in HIV patients. We demonstrate the advantages of progression towards SCC. Moreover, we used a new screening tool, the HR-VPS, a low-cost and manageable instrument to collect patients' long-term data.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We describe the development and validation of measures of human papillomavirus (HPV)/HPV vaccination knowledge, fear/anxiety about vaccination, involvement in HPV vaccine decision-making, and self-efficacy with regard to getting the vaccine, designed to evaluate the efficacy of an intervention to affect these domains (collectively termed the HAVIQ: HPV Adolescent Vaccine Intervention Questionnaire). STUDY DESIGN Literature search, cognitive interviews and cross-sectional survey. METHODS A literature search identified existing items that were modified for the present measures. Experts reviewed draft measures for face and content validity. Cognitive interviews with adolescents were also used to assess content validity. Adolescents completed the measures and an internal reliability analysis of each measure was performed. RESULTS The four experts concurred that the measures had face validity. Cognitive interviews identified items requiring refinement. Content validity was examined with ten experts and was deemed acceptable. There were 1800 adolescents who completed the measures; Cronbach's alpha was >0.6 for three of the four measures. The four final measures are brief, comprising 25 items in total. CONCLUSIONS The measures are robustly developed and validity-tested. The HAVIQ may be used in research settings to evaluate adolescents' knowledge and experiences of the process of HPV vaccination in a school-based vaccination programme.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) is a major public health concern affecting both females and males. HPV is associated with cervical, anal, head and neck cancers. About 99% of all cervical cancers are related to HPV. HPV vaccines, Gardasil, Cervarix, and Gardasil 9 are used in the primary prevention of HPV related cancers. Gardasil and Gardasil 9 are available for use in both females and males ages 9 to 26, while Cervarix is available for females ages 9 to 25. Gardasil 9 was approved by the FDA for prevention against additional HPV types. Despite the availability of this preventative measure against cervical cancer, the rate of HPV vaccination in the United States remains lower than that of other industrialized nations. The purpose of this study is to elucidate mechanisms to help increase the HPV vaccination rate by using education as a tool; by simplifying the president report so that lay person can understand the information presented in the report. Through the quantitative examination of the data from the states with the lowest and highest vaccination rates, using SPSS statistical analysis; we analyzed several factors involved with the low uptake of the vaccines. The results collected show that socioeconomic status, misconceptions about HPV, and misconceptions about the safety of the vaccines were identified as possible obstacles to the effective uptake of HPV vaccinations. The proposals made by the President's Cancer Panel to accelerate the uptake of vaccines include, increasing coverage of the vaccines through government-sponsored programs, and the Affordable Care Act; increasing accessibility to vaccines through pharmacies, schools, and clinics; and disseminating more information on HPV to healthcare providers, parents, caregivers, and patients. Allowing greater accessibility to the vaccines for all populations regardless of income, education, and eliminating misconceptions of the vaccines would play a significant role in eliminating cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is a disparity in HPV vaccination rates in particular among young men who have sex with men (YMSM) and until very recently there has been a dearth of research examining factors related to HPV vaccination for YMSM. The purpose of this study was to elicit YMSM's beliefs about HPV and the HPV vaccine as well as describe perceived barriers and facilitators of vaccine initiation and completion. METHODS A qualitative, descriptive study that utilized a focus group design was conducted among an urban and racially diverse sample of YMSM. Questionnaire data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and focus group data were analyzed using content analysis. FINDINGS 34 YMSM with a mean age of 20.8years participated. The sample was diverse, with the largest proportion of youth identifying as Black (35.4%). Over 90% reported having an annual exam each year, 61.8% reported obtaining a flu vaccine during the past year, and 58.8% reported initiating the HPV vaccine 3-dose series. Themes identified included low HPV knowledge and awareness, positive vaccine beliefs, perceived stigmas, and HPV vaccine facilitators. Participants identified 3 ways health providers/ researchers could facilitate vaccination: creative use of mobile technology, bundling vaccination with other health services, and increasing HPV and HPV vaccine awareness. CONCLUSIONS Our findings point to some clear avenues to pursue in research and practice to improve HPV vaccination rates among YMSM, including increased use of mobile health strategies, making HPV vaccination a co-occurring part of other health-related services (e.g., HIV testing), and providing information on the relevance of HPV and HPV vaccination to YMSM.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The incidence of anal cancer is on the rise among HIV-infected men who have sex with men (MSM). Given the increasing availability of screening, this study explored anal cancer screening awareness and behaviors among MSM infected with HIV. METHODS In-depth interviews were conducted with 58 MSM infected with HIV. RESULTS Other than 2 participants treated for anal cancer and 3 treated for precancerous anal lesions, the majority of participants had never heard of anal cancer. Men reported lack of awareness and recommendations from their health care professionals as the greatest barriers to screening. Upon learning about their risk for anal cancer and the availability of screening, the men were eager to discuss screening with their physicians. Participants provided numerous recommendations for future interventions, including training health care professionals to promote screening, disseminating information pertaining to anal cancer through social networks, and creating media campaigns to raise awareness about the need to screen for this type of cancer. CONCLUSIONS Future intervention work should focus on ensuring that health care professionals, particularly among HIV/primary care specialists, promote screening for anal dysplasia. It is critical that intervention methods use a community-based approach to raise awareness about the need to screen for anal cancer, especially among MSM infected with HIV.

Abstract
This study determined the prevalence and risk factors for genital human papillomavirus (HPV) detection among men who deny ever engaging in penetrative sex. A questionnaire was administered to 4123 men from a cohort study of HPV natural history. Genital exfoliated cells were collected and genotyped for 36 HPV types. Eighty-eight men were classified as virgins. Log-binomial regression models identified factors associated with genital HPV detection. The prevalence of any and high-risk HPV types among 88 male virgins was 25.0% and 18.2%, respectively. Age and smoking status were associated with HPV detection. Further studies are needed to better understand the risk for HPV infection among male virgins.

Abstract
PURPOSE There has been increasing interest in understanding the natural history of HPV and the diseases that it causes in men. HPV infection is strongly associated with penile cancer, lack of neonatal circumcision and phimosis. We investigated the incidence of HPV infection in asymptomatic men and patients with phimosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS We assessed 110 asymptomatic men and 30 patients who underwent circumcision due to phimosis. DNA was extracted from swabbed samples collected from asymptomatic men and from foreskin samples collected at circumcision. Polymerase chain reaction using consensus primers for detecting HPV-MY09/11 was performed to detect generic HPV DNA. HPV genotyping was done by polymerase chain reaction amplification with primers for the E6 gene DNA sequences HPV6, HPV11, HPV16, HPV18, HPV31, HPV33, HPV35, HPV45 and HPV58. RESULTS HPV was present in 46.66% of patients with phimosis, of whom 50% had high risk HPV genotypes. Of asymptomatic cases 16.36% were HPV positive but only 1 sample showed high risk HPV. We detected a significantly high rate of HPV genital infection in patients presenting with phimosis compared with asymptomatic men (p = 0.00167). The prevalence of high risk HPV genotypes in patients with phimosis was also statistically significant (p = 0.0004). CONCLUSIONS We found a robust association between phimosis and the genital HPV prevalence in men and a significant frequency of high risk HPV. Other studies are needed to investigate the occurrence of factors that can increase the incidence of penile carcinoma and determine its impact on female genital infection in cervical cancer.

Abstract
Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common viral sexually-transmitted infection. Despite HPV infection is associated with several malignant disorders including penile and anal cancers, little is known about the epidemiology of HPV infection in males, particularly in developing countries. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of HPV infection and its genotype distribution among Iranian males. Patients and Methods: Between March 2009 and April 2014, a total number of 483 males, referred to Iran University of Medical Sciences-affiliated sexually transmitted infections (STI) clinics, were enrolled in this study. Following DNA extraction, HPV detection and genotyping were performed using INNO-LiPA HPV Genotyping Extra assay. To analyze the association of HPV infection and age, the logistic regression was employed. Results: No statistical association between HPV infection and age was observed (P = 0.469). Furthermore, there was no statistically significant correlation between HR HPV infection and age (P = 0.330). Conclusions: In this investigation, the prevalence of HPV infection was relatively substantial. Totally, 17 different HPV genotypes were detected and the most frequently detected genotypes were HPV6, HPV11, HPV16, HPV18 and HPV52, respectively. The data from this study is essential for planning future public health strategies including HPV vaccination programs.

Abstract
African American adolescent males who have sex with males (MSMs) have a high prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) that has been directly linked to lack of access to primary care providers and reluctance to disclose their sexuality. The human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common STD with more than 40 different serotypes and can lead to anal/genital warts as well as oral and genital cancers. The HPV vaccine if taken prior to an adolescent becoming sexually active serves a prophylactic function. The HPV vaccine is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for girls and boys; however, HPV vaccination rates among adolescents within different minority and underserved communities have been disappointing even though these groups are disproportionately infected with the HPV virus and certain male-specific cancers. Little is known about the uptake of the vaccine among African American MSMs and thus the aim of this study. This qualitative study is based on the health belief model and assessed participants' level of awareness of HPV, the HPV vaccine, and HPV-related illnesses among 24 African American male adolescents between 16 and 18 years old who self identify as MSMs. As part of a larger study, two focus groups were conducted for African American MSMs. Participants failed to understand their potential risk for HPV given the higher rates of STD infection experienced by MSMs. They expressed very little knowledge of the HPV vaccine and are also not aware of the complications of HPV virus infection. However, they were very eager to know more about the virus and the vaccine. This study demonstrates the need for the development of health communication intervention and more research targeting African American MSMs and also the need for policy change towards making the HPV vaccine routine for males especially adolescents at no cost.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Little is known about the correlates of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination or willingness to be vaccinated in urban, minority adolescents. METHODS Using responses to the 2013 Youth Risk Behavior Survey in Philadelphia, a random sample of high schools provided weighted data representing 20,941 9th to 12th graders. Stratified by either having had or willingness to have the vaccine, bivariate analysis with sexual behavior, preventive health behaviors, mental health, substance use, and demographic characteristics were examined and then multivariable regression models were developed to estimate significant correlates. RESULTS Respondents were 52.3% female, 84.4% non-White, and 65.9% ≥16 years; 43% reported having had the HPV vaccine, and of those not vaccinated, 66% reported willingness to be vaccinated. Logistic regression models indicate that females (odds ratio [OR] = 3.12, p < .01) and those reporting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing (OR = 2.10, p < .01) were more likely to be vaccinated. Those reporting condom use during last intercourse (OR = 0.40; p = .05) and current marijuana use (OR = 0.37; p = .03) were less likely to indicate willingness to be vaccinated. CONCLUSIONS Important areas for intervention include addressing misconceptions or feelings of "immunity," especially for those using condoms. Understanding the correlation between HIV testing and HPV vaccination is also an important intervention opportunity for schools hoping to increase adolescent vaccination rates.

Abstract
ABSTRACT The quadrivalent HPV vaccine (HPV4) is safe and highly efficacious, and can significantly reduce the burden of HPV-related genital warts and cancers among men, in addition to promoting herd immunity. Nevertheless, HPV4 coverage among boys remains low in most settings. Research to date has focused predominantly on HPV vaccination of girls to prevent cervical cancer. Most countries with publicly funded healthcare where HPV4 is licensed cover the costs of HPV vaccination programs for girls only. We critically review the evidence for extending publicly funded HPV vaccination programs to boys in addition to girls. After an overview of research on HPV prevalence and associated cancers among men, we review cost–effectiveness studies, benefits of universal versus targeted vaccination approaches and multifaceted health equity concerns, along with directions in vaccine delivery programs and intervention research to promote HPV vaccine uptake for boys. Comprehensive evaluation of the systematic exclusion of boys from publicly financed HPV vaccination programs is warranted given tremendous public health implications of new infections and subsequent cancers that could have otherwise been averted.
